Tranquil location, close the beach and even had some deer nearby. It resembles staying at a cabin in the middle of a forest. Quite remarkable.
Room was extremely dated, thin walls and can hear people talking in the room next to ours. Bathroom needed a little TLC. Shower doors were rusted and old. Since we took my 3 and 5 year old a TV would have been great entertainment for them.
The grounds are beautiful and invite you to take long walks.
The walls are a bit thin and we were disturbed by our neighbors above us.
It's geared toward conferences
It was convenient to locations I was visiting. Beautiful lobby.
Breakfast was over at 9 so lazing about in the morning is not supported. Facilities are very old which means very nice great rooms, lobby, etc., but guest rooms had issues like pocket door was broken in our bathroom and fairly thin walls meaning the kids in the room above woke us up early.
It feels like going back in time a bit...
...in such a great way. Designed by Julia Morgan, the property has lovely character with wood interiors. Our room was in a building with ~8 rooms, and there was a common room that had games and puzzles which is nice because the rooms are small and there were four of us. When we got back from dinner out, there were logs and newspaper starters set up in the fireplace with matches on the mantle, making it super easy to start a cozy fire and play games. Fresh air, glimpses of the ocean, live music (mellow guitar) until 9PM....twas lovely.
There didn't seem to be a phone in the rooms, so getting more pillows seemed hard to figure out, so I just stuffed towels into pillowcases. Just good to know that going in.
The grounds and property were breathtaking
The room was small and dingy. We didn't expect much and it met our low expectations. We got breakfast with our travelzoo deal and I felt like I was back in my high school cafeteria. We don't expect luxury, but they could really up their game in terms of managing the property.
Our room had no TV, no microwave, no fridge, no phone, no pad and pen, basically it was just shelter.
It reminded us of the Yosemite Flair. Coming from Sweden it was just outstanding!
Great Location, Mediocre rooms.
Conference grounds were gorgeous, lots of little walking trails and directly across from the ocean.
My room had poor air circulation and was always way too hot. Blinds on the bathroom window did not close properly and the windows didn't have screens on them. There were also 2 or 3 lamp posts just outside my bedroom window, meaning I had to deal with lots of light pollution when trying to sleep. Site has open wi-fi, but it is unavailable in most conference rooms. Most food and services on site are decent, but rather overpriced.
Great option in Monterey
Stayed for one night. Loved the amazing location, how clean and spacious the room was, and the comfortable beds.
Didn't care much for the cafe employee, who was rude and forgetful.
I loved the grounds- they were beautiful
That we we're put in the wrong room at first but they corrected it
Fantastic location on Monterey coast, relaxed and quiet atmosphere, deer roaming on property
would like a/c in rooms, or fans at least
The location next to the Asilomar State Beach is outstanding! Yet just a 10 minute drive to Monterey and 20 minutes to Carmel.
That the nice wooden houses were scattered around a big tranquille naturegarden along the seaschore. Fine food. Free parking.
Dining at shared tables.
Our family loves Asilomar... It's beautiful. Have a hearty breakfast, go for a walk at the state beach, shoot a game for pool in the lodge and your just five minutes from Monterey Bay aquarium. Simple rooms, but the location is with a million.
Near the ocean wonderful walking trails. Lot of fun for families, and couples too.
The older rooms lack insulation and have small beds.
