Breakfast on the roof provided a great view, overlooking the city of Rome.
I was on the second floor, so I could hear some noise from the street below. Not always a bad thing.
A hotel that has a ton of potential - invest, invest, invest
The location is amazing and it's indeed a charming property. Back in the day the hotel had its glory, where I envision upper class Italian families attended exclusive events, foreign heads of state and diplomats were all previous occupants and probably being able to have a drink at the hotel, one was required to wear a tuxedo. Today, those days are long gone. The hotel requires some serious investment to bring it back to what I envision as it's former glory. Tare down the interior and rebuild it from the inside and make sure to reflect the hotel's history. Of course don't forget the installation of chillers and new windows. Bathrooms require complete gutting out and rebuilding. The hotel has a lot of potential and it could become part of the luxury collection. If the owner can't afford paying for the renovation, then I think he needs to bring in a strategic partner because the hotel's current condition can't generate profit.
If I am to be honest, I didn't like how the hotel has lost its glory. How it has been used, abused and milked for profit without giving back to it. To the owners, I would suggest for the next few years lower your margin of profit and reinvest in the hotel because that might prolong its survival.
Great rooftop views of Rome
Overall good hotel in prime location in the city.
Location, location, location. Good stuff. Spectacular breakfast bar on the roof with a view of all Rome. Clean, nice.
Interntet was not working. It was connecting, but not working. Spent fortune on international data before realized.
The location was really convenient for me – centrally located and a convenient walk to most of the attractions (even the Vatican or Colosseum are only about a 20 minute walk away) The included breakfast was decent and couldn't have been served in a better location than the rooftop garden with a good view of the city in most directions.
The WiFi is an extra charge unless you book directly on their website and it was so slow and unreliable that it's not worth paying for. They had the classic signs of a hotel skimping on a professional installation: many different network names and while many of them reported excellent signal strength, the access points would usually reject connection attempts; after retrying enough times to connect the best speed I saw was about as fast as a 2G cellular connection and you'd be logged out a couple of times an hour. Until they hire a professional to fix their network, skip the frustration and go out and enjoy the city instead. Any cafe, bar, restaurant, etc. advertising free WiFi will give you something tasty for your money along with better service.
