Pros: I have stayed at many hotels and resorts around the world. This place from the start treats you like you like you are the only one in the room :). The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was great especially the pasta and shrimp, the salmon wasn’t as fresh as I like but still it was good. The facilities were 4/5 and were state of the art. With the Sheraton club ithe benefits are so worth it. The staff can guide you to places you would like to visit. With google translate outside you should be ok as well. I do not speak much Spanish but the staff spoke English well enough for us to communicate

Pros: The view was outstanding and the staff were very attentive. The facility was nice, but there were a few issues with the conference rooms, electricity and water issues.
Cons: The rooms were just ok. The decor is very basic and one of my colleagues complained that she felt a bit claustrophobic in her room. We tried to hook up the computer to the tv via a cord-- and the hotel only has one remote control (for the entire hotel) that changes the inputs on the tv. The prices for the buffets/food were ridiculous. $35 for lunch plus 28% in taxes. This includes the 18% ITBIS and does not include tip.

Pros: The bedding super comfortable, fluffy and perfect quality. We were overwhelmed with the staff hospitality, from the bell person( Elias) to the reception( Ivan), room service, the pool attendant. Everyone went above and beyond. My daughter and I commented on our flight back about how our last day in Santo Domingo was outstanding due to the courtesy from the staff at the Sheraton.
Cons: Not a thing. Service above and beyond expectation.

Cons: Everything else. Abhorrent customer service. Unwillingness to find solutions. No water at times, detestable food, non-functioning amenities that appear listed in online booking sites. "He said she said" employees. I usually am not a nay-sayer nor do I often review anything I purchase online but felt compelled to do a small part in revealing the truth about this place I would definitely stay the night for $10 nowhere near the caliber nor service expected at close to $50. I support a new development here or new management.

Pros: If you leave you're overly Rosy expectations in the United States this is an awesome hotel. If you want to nitpick things go spend $200 a night somewhere. This is in a good area with a really cool cafe 40 meters away and it is a 15 minute walk from Conde Street which is very popular and full of shops. I also highly recommend Mandela Pub. It is an expat place and plays really good jazz and classic rock and is run/owned I think by a Spanish lady. The staff at the hotel was super friendly and generally worked hard to meet expectations. I only know 17 1/2 words in Spanish but fortunately can smile fluently in Spanish. There were a couple people who spoke English. The worst thing I could say it about it is that it took me three tries to get some towels when the cleaning lady didn't put any in the room after removing the ones in there. There is a good, very polite cook at breakfast making omelets to order and the breakfast is a good deal.

Pros: The room was clean, the shower was new and the hot water was incredible, the best of any Santo Domingo hotel we've stayed at. The front desk couldn't find our reservation, but checked my email reservation, the amount I paid online, and quickly checked us into our room. Air conditioning was good too.
Cons: The continental breakfast was limited to one item, I've never seen that in any hotel in this country. The hot tub should be removed from the list of accommodations, as I read a person put in March that the jacuzzi was broken, yet I assumed in a 6 month period it had been fixed. I was wrong, and my boyfriend and I were really looking forward to that aspect of the stay as our weekend getaway. There were a lot of mold spores on the shower tiles. Location might make some travelers from outside DR nervous, it's fairly dark and desolate at night,but we both live here so it wasn't an issue. It's good for a short walk to anything you want to see in Zona Colonial.
