The piped music
Fantastic food, great service, lovely friendly people who had time to chat. it was the little things that made the difference. the grounds were delightful. Nothing was too much trouble
There was a molehill on the far lawn (about 150 metres away) only joking! Not sure about having to make our own toast in the morning.....
It was very welcoming, the bar was cosy and the evening meals were very good
Tired decor in places. The en suite bathroom probably needed updating.
Very relaxing and luxurious place in a wonderful country setting, with beautiful grounds. The food was sublime.
Not really, but as we are tea fans, it was a tad disappointing to see that tea bags were the norm, rather than tea leaves!
The food & service was very good/excellent and very quiet. Parking arrangements were good. The country side around the hotel was magnificant.
I am a large person, 6ft 4incs tall and 18 1/2 stone in weight, so what I say must be taken bearing this in mind. The space to be occupied by the Loo was adequate if the Loo had been centralised in the space availablle. However it was not cetralised and I could not properly sit on the Loo. My sholders were too large for the space.
We felt thoroughly pampered from the moment we arrived. Restaurant waiters were greeted us as we descended the stairs to the restaurant and tended to our every wish. The food at dinner was amazing - we spent as much on dinner as we had on the room, but it was exquisite.
Given the cost and the pampering of the previous night, we felt less well looked after at breakfast - we had to make our own toast to go with our kippers. We were quite surprised about this as so much care was taken in every other respect to make us feel looked after.
the surrounding area and gardens, the staff were wonderful - very friendly and helpful
warm welcome comfortable bed good food flexible service
very pricey tea served on our arrival
Everything! Especially the attention to detail, All the staff were excellent and couldn.t do enough for you. Food excellent and the wine list superb, A wonderful experience.
W could have done with somewhere to dry wet golf clothes other than our room. But this was a very minor problem.e
Great attention to detail. Tastefully decorated rooms and public spaces. Lovely grounds. Nice touches like being able to borrow from a very extensive cd collection and a more limited dvd collection for use in the room, fresh fruit in the room etc. Very attentive staff. Room was always tidied and bed made whilst we were at breakfast so you always returned to a freshly made up room. Room was always checked every time we went out. Interesting menu with a good choice of food all very nicely prepared and presented.
For a 5* hotel who pride themselves on attention to detail just 3 things irked us. In amongst the very tasteful furnishings there is too much of a smattering of ikea - for example occasional tables and lamps in the lounge, glasses and jugs in the restaurant and rooms. In the restaurant the blinds and curtains are not closed at night and as a significant part of the restaurant is an extension with lots of views of the gardens (great at breakfast)this means that the blank black windows in the evenings now that it is autumn make the restaurant feel cold - not helped as well by the fact that the radiators in the restaurant were also not on. Although the rooms are regularly checked and tidied the dark brown carpet in the room was not vaccuumed for the entire time that we were there meaning that by the final day of our stay it was covered in very obvious fluff rather taking the edge off the feel of the room.
