Cons: The traffic noise was very loud throughout the night

Cons: The price of the rooms is high

Cons: We did order coffee by the poolside that took quite awhile for room service to get to us, after waiting for about half an hour at the pool bar, we were charged about $17 for a small French press. It didn't seem worth the wait or price for a couple cups of coffee, and discouraged us from ordering room service the rest of the trip. But a small hickup in an overall amazing stay at the Belmond.

Cons: Repeated air conditioning problems in our room.

Cons: Our room was recently renovated. Due to the cold, fresh air wasn't an option so we were overwhelmed w fumes. They were able to move us and saved the trip. Great 2nd room.

Cons: The hotel is dated and worn out. The rooms are small and very old. The bathroom is only large enough for one person and the plumbing is ancient. The hotel is overpriced for what you get. The manager was not at all accommodating when we didn't get the type of room we booked. I would never stay at this hotel again.

Cons: They upgraded our room because they didn't have the original room we booked upon arrival. We were staying 5 days. after two days they kicked us out of the upgraded room and moved us to a room half the size saying that the room they upgraded us to was already booked beyond our current stay. This put a damper on the remainder of our stay at the hotel due to the room being a little too small for two people Also the other guest in the hotel that had business meetings were very rude and arrogant and continually blocked the top of the stairways coming up to the main lobby.

Cons: Lack of air flow in the bathroom.

Cons: Older small bathroom A/C that made loud noises randomly. This is not a modern hotel...but that's not all bad.

Cons: The hotel is very noisy at night due to screaming and honking of horns on the main road-and I was on the 7th floor. I wish the hotel had a free continental breakfast and that you did not have to walk a block to get to the hotel parking, which is the city garage.

Cons: January 5 was a cold night and the room was chilly with no extra blankets, and the thermostat didn't seem to help. The cost for parking in the adjacent garage seems a bit excessive two half days and one night $17. Kind of like the golf course with $5 green fees and $50 golf balls.

Cons: Broken closet door in entry hall would swing into the path of the room door. There didn’t appear to be a vent in the bathroom. The 2 person elevator policy does not work when you’re at 100% capacity and it is busy.

Cons: Small bathrooms. Comfortable but not luxurious. With two double beds in the room, you couldn't open the bathroom door fully. That was pretty ridiculous to have to enter sideways.

Cons: The only thing I would have like to have was better mattress.

Cons: Housekeeping staff tried entering our room at 8:30 am (check outs not until 11, and we had previously requested a late checkout of noon). She knocked one time, lightly. We didn’t even get a chance to get up from bed, get decent and answer the door before she was already entering. This is not ok. Also, upon arrival the front desk staff and manager were conversations amongst themselves, not even greeting us or talking to us. Just amongst each other and getting us checked in. No welcome words or conversation. Like we were an inconvenience to their conversation.

Cons: Checking in did not go well. We arrived at 1:30 and were told the room was not ready and we should come back in an hour. We came back at 3:30 and the room was still not ready. Then when we got to our room, they lost our bag tag and it took over an hour to bring our bags to the room. We also didn't get the king size bed, but instead two doubles. They weren't very apologetic about it all either. They charged me $0.50 for a call to the 1-877 help number for wifi issues. Parking wasn't great either.

Cons: Difficult to check in as no place to park.....rooms small for price.....no refrigerator......limited counter space in bathroom

Cons: While the location is excellent, and the hotel lobby & courtyard are visually appealing, the rooms leave much to be desired. Even with a balcony view, the room was a bit dark and dreary. Our tub did not drain for several hours after each use (but was fixed by a friendly staff member a few hours after I called the problem in. They gave us a room down the hall to use in the meantime). The sink handle in the new room broke and the water ran constantly. The walls are thin and you can hear all conversations. The guest service is hit or miss. We had great interactions with some of the staff who were both pleasant and accommodating, and other experiences with staff who were quite the opposite. Overall, I’d choose this hotel again for location alone, but if you’re going to spend a lot of time in your room, your money would be best spent elsewhere.

Cons: What I did NOT like was once a person booked through Kayak, the hotel would not help you with your room. I called the hotel prior to arrival to make sure I had a king sized bed as I requested but the hotel refused to assist me since I did not book directly with them. So although I again requested a king size bed for my wife and I, and for our married friends as well, through the Kayak booking agency - neither of us had a king sized bed but instead two double beds! And the beds were like marshmallows so you sink in them. While that may be fun for some but many of us like support under our backs. I informed the hotel of my displeasure and request for change; I was "yes'd" but received no change. So I now assume that the most undesireable rooms are avaialble on Kayak because it would lead to toomuch aggravation for the hotel to try to get the normal rate for them.

Cons: Would have preferred a fridge in room but not totally necessary. We had a great time so really nothing negative!

Cons: The bathroom doors are sliding & did not give the feeling of full privacy. The room was not spacious but very comfortable.

Cons: I hated the sliding door to the bathroom. It didn't offer much privacy but I find many boutique hotels favor them these days.

Cons: Poor staff. Tried to charge me $100 for 8 place settings for the extra suite we paid for. We had paid for 5 rooms and a parlor suite and told front desk three times we needed place settings. We told no problem before I booked and the morning of the event. Then a hour before the event the banquet manager personally comes to the room and says he needs $100 before he can bring up the dishes.

Cons: The bathroom was a bit snug. Price was high, but comparable for other hotels in the historic area.

Cons: Rooms are on the small side as are the bathrooms. Our room was on the second floor and all we could see was scaffolding outside our window. The valet staff was a little inattentive.

Cons: The rooms are extremely small, which is typical in older hotels. Our room location was awful, which I didn't realize until it was too late (our kids were in bed and falling asleep). We were right next to the elevator bay, and we could hear people coming and going (very LOUDLY) all night long. Also, if you are given a room adjacent to King Street and you are staying over a weekend, you might want to switch to the other side of the hotel. There was a huge party (at the art museum, I think) and the DJ music was vibrating our room until past 10 p.m. This won't be a problem for you if you are out late and without kids, but it was a rough night for us.

Cons: paper coffee cups in room, walls were a little thin. the couple next to us were loud at all hours of the night. did not enjoy hearing them having sex!

Cons: Our room, a Deluxe King Bed room, was very tight on space, especially the bathroom. There was no vanity - just a pedestal sink - so there was nowhere to put any toiletries in the bathroom. The toilet was so close to the sink that part of the toilet tank was under the sink, which made it very difficult to reach the toilet tissue which was mounted on the wall between the sink and toilet. The bathroom was so small that the bathmat couldn’t lay flat on the floor.

Cons: Broken luggage racks (2) in room, shower water backs up in tub, immediately three inches to stand in while showering

Cons: Restaurant and Bar in hotel I would not recommend Service poor, house wine limited and poor, do not waste your time there are excellent places right out the door No mooring coffee available in the lobby or at the bar. Was told it would be set up by 6am, but both days nothing between 530-700am

Cons: The ventilation in the room was poor. The bathroom smelled like cigarettes likely coming from a neighboring room or one below. The mattresses are worn out and requiring the guest to remember to schedule house keeping the night before doesn’t seem like much of a service. It was also disappointing to find out that the only place to park at the hotel was the parking garage behind the hotel which runs you about $20 per day and isn’t comped by the hotel. Overall the hotel seems very elegant when you enter the lobby, but other than the main floor everything else is worn out and in need of an update. The value of the suite level room didn’t match the price paid.

Cons: Beds are tiny, had double queen room and they are just a size bigger than a twin.

Cons: The thermostat was hard to adjust, it was either to hot or too cold. Some staff were a lot more helpful and knowledgeable than others. Depends who you get. We had issues with trying to change the reservation and it took a couple calls to get someone that was able to explain to us.

Cons: The carpet in the living room was wet and the room smelled like wet carpet.

One thing that the hotel does not tell you is that the parking building charges you two dollars an hour in which you would think that the parking is free concerting you have paid to say there. But we asked around and found out that the parking there is not linked with the hotel. They should try to work something out at who ever stays at the hotel shouldn’t have to pay or pay a minimum to park there

Cons: THe halls were under construction. They appear to have needed the renovation. Room was nice but it is small. We were not in it much so it was fine. If you are in the room a lot, this is a challenge.

Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were a joke. They were tiny and lumpy. The room could have been better maintained. One of the drawer pulls came loose. One day we didn't have enough towels. They usually provide 3 or 4, but we only had 2. I use 2 towels when I shower (one for hair and one for body). I didn't realize there were not enough towels. My husband got out of the shower and didn't have a towel! I had to give him one of my wet towels. When I told the girl at the front desk, she didn't even apologize. She just made a note to provide us with extra towels. We didn't want EXTRA towels. We just wanted the normal number. The AC was VERY loud! I had to turn up the TV every time it turned on.

Cons: Room was smoky. Air conditioner would not cool the room lower than 70F even after it was inspected. Daily room cleaning was highly variable but consistently poor. Feels extremely dated. Terrible value.
