Nice family atmosphere
friendly, efficient staff and excellent food - breakfast, high tea (up to 7pm) and bar snacks (up to 9pm) are are as good as you'll get. Formal a la carte menu very good but expensive. Reception staff and restaurant staff outstanding. Bar area very informal and enjoyable, relaxing with helpful, attentive staff. Bar prices (including meals) very good.
Stayed in a twin room with my son. Room clean and functional but dated with tiny TV. Bathroom very dated. Beds were small singles and very, very soft/squeaky mattresses - the beds would be the main reason I would think twice about returning. Also at £88/night B&B for a twin room I think the hotel is a bit overpriced - £75/night would be about right.
THe staff were excellent as was the food.
Leisure facilities for changing were poor as was the fact that there was no attendant overseeing the pool or 'mini' gym.
Every single member of staff was polite friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the facilities perfect. We felt relaxed and would definitely return.
We only stayed the one night and found it to be a nice clean and friendly hotel with staff only too happy to help you. We eat out in town but if we stay again we will eat in as the food looked great and the smells from the restaurant were mouth watering. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty fresh fruit and a large fry up if you wanted it.
We were woken up at just after 6:30 with a constant drumming noise that lasted around 20 mins, spoke to staff and was told they were having problems with heating system and they could not apologize enough and hoped it didn't spoil the stay. Have to say it did not as we have a young son who gets up at that time most mornings anyway. We were aware of the traffic noise when we first went to the room but what do you expect from a hotel in a town so no real problem.
