The welcome was friendly, room was warm, breakfast awesome!
The crooner who was singing until 1045pm on Friday, my room was directly above him!
There was an attention to detail on arrival in the bedrooms, it was very welcoming and had a feeling of luxury about it. The bed was very comfortable and the bedlinen felt luxurious. The shower room was spotless and everything I needed was provided for. Although I had booked a single room I was given a room with a small double and this was a lovely surprise.
There was no soft lighting in the room so the ambience was a little spoiled by this, but it is not really a gripe, just something that could be improved. The television in the room did not have a great reception either. The room was very warm indeed so much so that I slept with the window open in November. Having said that, I would rather it was hot than too cold, but there was no means of turning the heat down so from the hotel's point of view, it seemed wrong to be wasting heating by letting it out of the window.
I liked its seafront location, proximity to the town centre and to the devonshire conference centre (mission worship - purpose of our visit) and the welcoming breakfast/restaurant room
this isn't a complaint - just an observation. Getting into my room with the card was difficult due to a broken lock. Staff were helpful but it seemed the difficulties with accessing the room were already known before our stay and perhaps action should have been taken earlier. Not wishing to complain though
Good location; friendly staff; comfortable bar and public areas. Good seview from room; clean bathroom.
Breakfast was basic - e.g. tinned tomatoes, watery mushrooms. Only an upright chair in the bedroom; TV had only 5 channels - no excuse for this in 2010. Noisy neighbour in the next room was somewhat trying.
Good value in the recession, enjoyed the stay and very pleasant
