Pros: Excellent location and food! Friendly staff. Only the rooms in the main building are up to date and comfortable. The other two or three buildings have older/old-fashioned rooms. All still comfortable and clean but relatively expensive if you are given one of those. You then really pay for the outstanding location of the hotel.
Cons: Strange smell in the lower floor / restaurant level. Couldn’t figure out what that was. Perhaps cleaning products or the kitchen.

Pros: The hotel sits up over lake Geneva, affording beautiful views of Port Ouchy and Lausanne. The hotel staff was professional, courteous, and spoke English well. The room was average size by American standards, and was comfortably appointed and quiet. The restaurant served a decent buffet breakfast, and dinner was excellent. In the morning and evening they would open the large windows allowing the cool breeze to waft in, providing a nice enticement to stay longer for drinks! The Cathedral Notra Dam of Lausanne is an easy walk from here, as is old town. The bus stop is just down the hill a bit from the hotel, making it quite easy to get around. The hotel even gave us free bus passes for our entire stay, which was a nice bonus!

Pros: I see this as a good mid-market hotel: I liked the design and feel of the room (less so the reception area). Breakfast selection was very good for a hotel of this type.
Cons: Not much that I didn't like apart from the fact that the bed was a single bed. In fairness I had only booked a single room, so I can't technically complain, but I feel in this day and age double beds should be the norm, even for single guests - particularly so in a modern hotel.

Pros: I stayed at the Movenpick because of the location (next to Lake Lemain, also called Lake Geneva). My room was reasonable in size (not large by US standards, but large by European standards) and had a beautiful view over the lake with the snow capped mountains behind. Absolutely worth paying the extra for the view! The breakfast buffet is very expensive, but you can order a la carte and it's much more affordable. There's a very good fitness center in the hotel (one of the best hotel fitness centers in my experience) with a sauna in it. The hotel has three restaurants, and the chef is very good (same kitchen for all three restaurants, just different atmosphere), and have a fine wine selection. Walking near Lake Lemain is one of the reasons to stay at this hotel. Enjoy!
Cons: When ordering a la carte for breakfast, the waitstaff are often slow to the point of it being a problem.
