Great for couples or families
The staff is very helpful. From 5-8 pm is like a happy hour. The bar / lounge area is very popular at night. I also liked the desk to work at.
The bathroom could have been better supplied. It was a 5 minute walk from 2 metro stations. A bus stop was closer.

There is little to like, so save your money and go to a three star hotel instead -- many are better than this one. Yes, the rooms are large and clean, but everything inside is fairly old, and the place has no style or grace at all. Neither does the neigbourhood, really, and it is surely the ugliest few blocks in central Madrid, even if it is close to the major tourist sites. Not recommended at all.
Even on a cold day outside (5 C) the inside of the room was like an airless oven, easily 25 C, and there is no way to turn down the temperature or open a window to the fresh outside air, because all the windows actually open to an interior courtyard that is just as hot and stifling. You won't sleep well.

Great location between Plaza Mayor and Atocha train station. Staff was very helpful with recommendations. Room was big and clean. Free wireless internet.
Bed was a bit hard, room was hot (A/C was not available), and noisy at night (downside of central location).
