Will not go there again
Nice view of falls. Room looked nice.
no hot water for hot tub. Drain was broken. Plastic nozzle fell off jet. Staff never followed up or fixed the problem
The views from our room of the Horseshoe Falls and nightly fireworks couldn't be better. The location is close to everything and within a short walk to restaurants and all the falls activities as well as Clifton Park. The room was clean, free coffee in the morning, and the staff was very helpful, kind, and professional.
Terrible customer service, misadvertisement and no wifi
Ok, very shady description! Overlooking the falls? That's a joke! You'll be overlooking a motel driveway that doesn't even have wifi. Very shady description, they make you believe you're getting a nice hotel room then put you in a motel next door yet charge you a hotel price.
No wife, paid hotel price-- was sent to a motel next door
It wasn't worth the money at all. The room was dark, felt dirty. There were stains on the pillows, and had to kill a couple of bugs. Bathroom was dingy and dirty feeling. The place was overall very tired looking.
Friendly staff, nice location , quiet room except the air conditioner
Noisy air conditioner
Good location and nice environment
Restaurants and places nearby
Attitude of the personnel and so negative and not very helpful at all!!!
View. Since there were no leaves on trees yet, the view of the falls was good.
No refrigerator in room, no microwave, additional fee for parking, then no room in hotel lot to park. Ice machines only on odd floors of hotel. Staff unresponsive to concerns. Tourist trap, nothing included, everything required an 'upgrade'. Obviously not looking for repeat business.
walking distance to city amenities and the Falls a plus. The view from the room was amazing. Entrance lovely.
The costs were exorbitant for off season, middle of the week. The room should have had a micro wave, fridge, luggage rack for that money. Parking fee was ridiculous ($25) and a surprise for an outdoor parking space. We were given someone else's parking card initially. Armchair seat cushion in room sagged. Why is there paper on the hallway windows? Stairwells were dirty and crude. A continental breakfast should be included for that cost. The room had a tired, dated appearance in contrast to the main entrance.
If your room is on the higher floors, the view of the Horseshoe Falls is fantastic.
Parking is expensive.
Not coming back
The location to the falls and walking distance to our favorite restaurants is fantastic. The staff was friendly and efficient.
It appears there was a old two story hotel and the added the high rise later. We stayed in the out dated part of the hotel. The room smelled musty and old. It was a disappointing experience.
One of the only things that this hotel had in its "pros" column was the closeness to Niagara Falls, and the fact that we were able to check in 2 hours early.
Where do I begin? Once we checked in in the chlorine-scented lobby, we loaded our luggage in the elevator to head to our room. Because the hotel only has one spot for guest elevators, we spent the next 4-5 minutes walking the long and winding hallways to locate our room. Once in our room, we noticed the strange set up for the bathroom: toilet and shower/tub in a closed room, sink exposed in the main living area shielded only by a small wall. Moving into the bed/living room, our "view of the Niagara" was awfully green; apparently the trees hadn't been trimmed in a while. We called to the front desk to see if we could switch rooms. While the staff member was friendly, he informed us that because we booked a room with 2 double beds, he could do nothing for our concerning our "view." Since we drove 6+ hours to see Niagara Falls, we needed a place to park our vehicle while we explored. Fortunately, the hotel has a good sized parking lot that they allow guests to utilize...for a small fee of $25 per day. My next trip to Niagara, I will most likely splurge and book one of the nicer hotels neighboring Oak Hotel.
Be aware of the motel section of that section
I only liked the location
1. Be aware that this hotel has motel like section with doors open to the outside. 2. Also, house keeping was banging on the door and window at 9am with the DO NOT DISTURBE sign on the door. 3. The beds they had in the room were full size not queen.
The Oakes is conviniently located in Niagara right by the falls as well as close to casino and other facilities
The hotel was definitely not good value for money. The hallways in the courtyard section are very dingy. The room was not confortable and it almost felt like I was staying in an inn. Would not stay here again.
We enjoyed the room, being so close to the casino and so close to the falls was very conveniet.
The water pipes make a lot of noise. woke me up in the morning.
The view of the Falls and the close proximity to the casino.
this hotel close to the falls and close to the casino and good for shopping too.
The nice location and the beautiful view of the falls
The beds were not very comfortable
Not alot I was disappointed in my room the pool hot tub and the staff working the desk, not the weekend away I was expecting for our 25th anniversary we were both disappointed and wanted to leave early
I had to ask for another room because the one I had was so musty and dampness on carpet I could not breath with my asma, they moved us to another room and it was good but the person at desk was rude to me when I complained to her about my room and I paid good money and it was our 25th anniversary so I did not want a musty room
The location was excellent. Close to the Falls, Casino and restaurants.
The room seemed rather sparsely decorated. There was only 1 chair next to the window. We dragged over the office-type chair from the desk so that we both could sit together and look out. There was a wad of hair on the floor in the tub section of the bathroom and in the sink area. It made the whole room seem not properly cleaned. Being on the 3rd floor did not provide a very good view of the water.
Front desk staff was not gracious/welcoming. Lack of restaurant/bar was an inconvenience.
Close proximity to everything
Cobwebs in the corners, no faceclothes, extremely poor room makeup during stay
beautiful view of the horseshoe falls
Oakes hotel association with Applebee's restaurant which we found totally unsatisfactory in food, quality and service.
