The bed was nice.
The staff was nice but we was told that breakfast was from 6:30am-10am and we went downstairs about 945am and was told technically breakfast was over at 930. Then our room was cold because we couldn’t get our thermostat to switch from cool to heat.
Loved the pool and hot tub. Also enjoyed the food.
My room wasn't totally clean and I didn't like the dirty dishes that were always in the hall.
Amazing Weekend Away
The hotel is in a great location and upon entering all you see is a grand lobby decorated completely for Christmas. The checkin/check out process was incredibly easy and the staff was friendly. Even got a free upgrade on the room since we were there for only a night which was a huge and wonderful surprise. The room itself was clean and modern and the bed made me want to stay forever. The hotel offered complementary drinks at night which was a nice surprise and the morning breakfast was such a great experience as compared to other hotel's "breakfasts". Overall I would come back to this hotel every time I come to Portland.
My favorite hotel in the world
I love the location, the staff, the old world charm, how accommodating everyone is.
I'm not sure I love the new modern furniture in the lobby area.
Location close to everything!
They charge you for wifi , why!?!?!
Surroundings and in street access only, high stree
Room was great, after changing rooms. Initial room not as described and had to show desk clerk reservation copy from email on phone. Res promised room with a view on top floor. Given previous floor level with view of parking garage. Said were given last available room with view. Had a great view of the city looking towards the river. Breakfast was great! Although the "cooked to order" ad description should of said "buffet" with optional "made to order" omelette. I did, and it was good.
Having to use Valet parking. Rather a forced choice, because of logistics, then end up in public parking area anyway. Location was horrible. Maybe for some tastes is ok. Rough inner city, area. Not a place for going for walks or taking a young family. Sorry, we love Embassy Suites, but won't return to this one. Again, hotel inside was great. The surroundings not so much.
Not what you pay for
Clean good complimentary breakfast and drinks
Had to pay $10 for wifi $30 a night parking cable in room kept cutting out for our 2 night stay
Great, friendly staff. Excellent value for the money. The included drinks in the evening and full breakfast in the morning are a big bonus. I have stayed here before and will again.
Great place for money
Breakfast and cocktail hour was great addition to the hotel and added value to the stay for price. Wish guest treated staff better by tipping for being served and cleaning tables was surprised that we were the only ones I could see that tipped everyone for what they did. I was ashamed that people don't appriciate nice friendly staff that are willing to help.
Pool was a little colder then I was expecting for everyone wish it was a little warmer. Elevator were so long wait but I guess that what you get when it a historic hotel.
Lack of cost effective or variety menu selections in steakhouse
Type of hotel
The hotel is nice and in a good location
I only gave this place three stars because the windows are only single pain which made our room very noisy. Lots of street noise and loud music from the club down the street. We went there to hang out down town but would also appreciate a good night sleep. Also the rate on kayak was the same as I could get just booking direct with the hotel.
I had a good experience.
I liked the location... I could see voodoo doughnuts from my room. We only waited for 4 minutes to get one :-) . The staff was awesome and the managers reception is a brilliant idea.
Loved the location near to the Saturday/Sunday Market and to lots of restaurants accessible by foot. Door staff were very helpful. Gorgeous old building, too.
Wasn't crazy about the complimentary breakfast being held in the basement! Also, it would have been nice if the pool area had separate change rooms/showers, etc.
the stay was enjoyable
children running in hallway was a pain in the neck, they were loud
Good location within the city that is close to shopping areas, communication lines, etc. , excellent food service, comfortable room, short distance to the conference center, etc.
I am absolutely disappointed with the payment procedures. I paid $1304.51 with my Visa card when I checked out, yet $2050 were blocked in advance and this sum is still blocked at the card that I used to pay with and about $1300 are still blocked at another card that I used to reserve the room on line. Would you be happy if over $3300 are blocked at your cards for days after the actual payment is done?
