Pros:Very nice looking (marble, chandeliers, etc.), lots of amenities. Large rooms. In the heart of downtown. Good bar in the hotel lobby restaurant.
Cons:Not good value IMO. It was nice but there were several disappointing things in our short stay (see below) that I would have expected better considering the price. Service was prickly and unfriendly. The rooms were well appointed and large but I didn't find the value paying 3x for them. Pretentious... too fancy for me. Not a bad thing just know what you're getting. As an example, there's a harp player in the main lobby. One of the two bathroom sinks leaked at the handle and the sink didn't drain. It would have been obvious to housekeeping as there was standing water in the bowl but they didn't offer to fix it. I didn't complain because we were only there 2 nights and just used the other sink. Got coffee in the lobby restaurant...it was the worst coffee I've ever had. Smelled and tasted terrible. All of these things are relatively minor but for a huge price premium I expect a premium experience and didn't get it. I'll stay at a Double Tree or something comparable next time I'm in SLC.
