Great Value, Great Stay
I did a lot of research to find a hotel at a fair price that is still safe and clean. The Vertigo Hotel gave us an awesome stay. We upgraded to a suite of some sort, still only paid $150/night. FREE Wi-Fi. Warm comfy robes, huge shower. Upgrade to a suite!! Well worth it. Located in Lower Nob Hill. Close Night life. We took a Lyft ride and went out dancing at The Raven in SF. Came home to a safe place to sleep. Loved it!
The lobby is under construction, so no Ice machine.
From the moment we checked into the Hotel Vertigo the staff were friendly and helpful. We were offered excellent advice on touring SF for our three night visit. Location was perfect with walking distance to Union Square. There were lots of restaurants nearby for a meal in the evenings after returning from a busy day of site seeing. No complaints.
Really liked the retro design. Nicely appointed, comfortable rooms. Liked pretty much everything about it! Hotel has a convenient central location. Liked the light switches that would turn on and off automatically. Staff was great and always ready to help us out - when we wanted to heat up some leftovers they took care of it for us within minutes!
Just a few minor things... the fitness centre was nice and new, but needed better air circulation. Were unexpectedly charged $1 per phone call made with a 1-800 calling card.
There really wasn't anything appealing about the hotel once there. Staff were sharp and unfriendly, lack of any sort of hotel facilities, location further from centre than led to believe overall hugely overpriced and innaccurately described.
The room we stayed in was apparantly renovated, I would hate to see the unrenovayted rooms!! Description of hotel innacurrate, tacky design and little/no facilities. Poor quality in detail of finishes, money spent on look of reception but not in the corridors or rooms. For the same price we were able to transfer to Parc 55 which was 4 stars and in a totally different league in terms of standard and location. It had the feel of a level above a hostel, but no further!
The staff was great, the room very comfortable, and the price was exceptional.
I would like to have had coffee in my room.
