1. Reserved a small suv, got a small hatchback that couldn’t even fit our two suitcases. 2. Exterior of car was filthy 3. Warning lights going off in French the entire time. Low tire pressure, brake system failure, post collision warning. All in French. Unnecessarily stressful rental experience. Not pleasant.
Car was new. Advanced info on what equipment the car had. The first car didn’t have car play so had to upgrade at a cost. This info would have been good to have prior to pickup.
When we arrived to pick up the car arranged for by Kayak the size of the car available at the lot was inadequate to economy as booked with kayak (we were offered minuscule Fiat Panda instead of reserved Peugeot 308 or equal). No other cars were available in the economy size on the lot. I was left to upgrade to a "40 euro/day" to DS3 compact SUV. The 40/day charge turned out to be 22.16 + 33.33 (stated as customer requested upgrade) + 20% tax. My final bill was 385.63 vs 185.65. The car was great with great mileage and features. The Fiat Panda would be unsafe and inapropriate for the mileage and speed we needed to be driving at. The transaction leaves me not overly impressed by KAYAK's coordination and guarantees of price and quality.
