Pros: We wanted to be able to relax and unwind at our first destination in Australia, this was definitely the place, the pool was very relaxing and the sunrise on the marina side was breathtaking. They had our room ready and allowed us to check in early. They also had complementary champagne and chocolates upon arrival. They also upgraded our room to a higher level so we had a better view of the bay. The location is with in walking distance to everything, including the ferries at the marina. All in all one of the best parts of our stay was the staff, they were all so welcoming, accommodating and extremely pleasant (esp Kelly and Luke!). I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: pool furniture showed some signs of wear.

Cons: This hotel is not representative of the Shangri-La group, and I struggle to see how it maitains a 5-star rating. The showerdid not drain properly, grit between the shower tiles is black in places, the fan is chipped, carpet stained, phone's "quick dial" buttons did not work, and the room is old and dated and sparsely furnished.

Pros: Amazing location walking distance from the harbor with many shops and restaurants within the same complex. Luxurious and modern rooms without feeling pretentious.
Cons: Breakfast service was $20 and most of the buffet choices were unappetizing; the omelettes and French toast prepared on request by the chef were pretty good but overall there are likely better options around Cairns. The pool was really nice but closed unusually at 8pm.

Pros: We were perfectly situated to see the beach, sunrise and sunset. Their cookies were especially a nice touch, warm & delicious. Beds were comfortable, towels were large and the coffee bar was perfect (when we finally found the mugs). Parking was more than reasonable compared to Sydney & Melbourne and close enough we were able to walk to the fleet terminal for our GBR trip. The vine room was well situation & staff. Lovely surrounding in an exceptional location.
Cons: On site restaurant was expensive and required to eat food onsite. Wish we could have packed our food for our GBR trip since it was such an early launch.

Pros: Not much had a bad experience
Cons: First walked in back sliding door handle fell off and wasn't screwed in properly, stains on carpet, aircon didn't work even had maintenance come and didn't do anything to fix it, front desk didn't transfer us to another room, fridge wouldn't stay cold and the bench and doors were water damaged and the chip board was crumbling off wasn't worth my money and wouldn't recommend stating and didn't get compensation or money back for our poor stay as my partners returning home present

Cons: There is no way this is a 4-star hotel. My room was disgusting. The rooms was so outdated. The bed were clearly old and sunken in. The minute I pulled back the covers, there was a bug crawling around. I found several more little ants all over the dresser and a large cockroach. There is clearly an infestation problem. The bathrooms were so outdated and had mold in the grout. It took me 10 minutes of being in my room to decide I was leaving and staying somewhere else. It looked nothing like the pictures and was really disappointing.

Pros: Location location location...within walking distance of the lovely waterfront with all the restaurants. The Concierge, Junko, was excellent putting together tours for us. The view from the 14 level was spectacular.
Cons: The buffet breakfast that came with the room was more than a "little tired." It was fast asleep. The pancakes and waffles were mealy and inedible. The so-called sausages were mini-hot dogs. The "to order" section was grossly understaffed so lines were long waiting for eggs to order.

All the vents and doors were sooo dirty We stayed in a two bedroom condo which could have been wonderful expect the furnishings were so old and made everything feel so unclean. Plus 6 nights and no new towels etc. wifi slow or non If privately own condos they shouldn't rent people's who aren't updated as $200 per night and it was 2 star only

Pros: The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the location is ok. The view is pretty good as well.
Cons: Evidently the room had just been "refreshed" however the bathroom was extremely dated with cheap metal fittings that reminded me of my early days in the Army. The layout of the room was bizarre to say the least so much so that you would have to turn your head 90 degrees to watch the TV from the bed. The air conditioning is pre-set to 25 degrees Celsius which in the wet season is not sufficient and the room is hot, this is not an acclimatization issue as we are from North Queensland and we found it oppressive to the point we had to have both the fan and air conditioning on at the same time to be comfortable.
