Cons: They took a card for incidentals which they charged $10. For what????? We got nothing while there. Arrived 9:30 pm and left early. No extra charge was necessary - they should have to say what they charged for. Tried to get free internet. They wanted a fee for internet and I declined. The free internet didn't work - all sites were blocked. NOT good for a business trip.

Cons: The madatory inconvenient valet parking that was not disclosed until I physically pulled in. Totally my trip not worth whIle for the get away I planned. The renovation made hotel stay beyond unpleasant and unconfortable. The upchage for absolutely everything considering what wasn't available due to renovating was undesirable. I would not come back there again for these reasons and will definitely share my experience to my friends and business travalers. I think anyone staying there during this "renovation" should be compensated in someway for the checking into that. I'm sure they also were not told the condition of the establishment and was as surprised as I was at arrival and check in.

Pros: The staff was nice and things looked clean. Breakfast was great. While we were there, some kids over flowed the orange juice drip tray and the staff was on it to clean it up. You could tell they were a little upset but they worked together to get it cleaned up.

Cons: The whatever million dollar renovation the website lists - was not enough million. The photos provided on hotel websites are excellent but not a true testament to the hotel condition. There was mold in the shower (multiple places) and mold on the window frames (multiple places). The tubs were not resurfaced correctly and are rusty and peeling. The towels were frayed. The wall coverings already have I don’t even know what on them. Our outer bedding was not clean. Beds should be true queen. Overall the cleanliness and attention to renovation detail was just not there. The recent renovation description on site would suggest the hotel is more elevated than what it truly is. We chose this hotel for the Sheraton name and reputation- while the price tag definitely met- everything else did not. It’s an old hotel. & still feels like an old hotel regardless of the new coat of lipstick. Parking is area standard, but overpriced. Hotel breakfast on google summary and maybe on hotels.com states that it’s included- it’s not but a very overpriced $17pp. The pool and spa are appreciatively partially indoors & heated, but again - the photos make it look like a really nice elevated “oasis.” And it’s not. We spent more money to stay at this hotel vs another closer to crown center thinking we were staying at an elevated and updated hotel- and were disappointed. There are newer more affordable priced options downtown.

When we checked in room was very small, we've stayed here several times so we know the room sizes, & warm. Turned the air down & left for the evening. When we returned thought it was still warm, turned air to 60. Woke during night because it was warm. When I looked out window next morning realized the window was open several inches, causing the warm & humid room!! Room was never vacuumed during stay, linens were grayish not white, I have pictures. Remote didn't work. All in all I was very disappointed since I was the one to reserve the rooms for a reunion. We stayed here in 2009 and everything was wonderful, not this time. I felt this was a Sheraton!

Pros: The staff was very pleasant to us during out stay, we were on our honeymoon. They even gave us wine and some comped drink tickets to the hotel bar. Overall the facilities were great and we would probably stay their again.
Cons: We had called down to get some plates and silverware to use to eat some of our leftovers from dinner, 45 minutes later I had to call down again since we still hadn't received anything, they were then delivered by two security guards not even hotel staff. When our room was finally available, they just thrust the keys at us and didn't direct us to our room or let us know when check out time was. The next morning, the phone rang and it was the staff asking if we still needed our car. We were sleeping and hadn't called for our car and they just kind of said oh ok and hung up. Then here comes housekeeping banging on the door while we're still in our pajamas. The room was nice but the bathroom door is a sliding door and is so close to the bed that you can hear every little noise coming from the bathroom. No bathroom privacy if you're not alone in the room. The hotel has been restored nicely but service needs some work.

Cons: We got there at midnight. The staff doesn't care about you personally as a customer. The room we received was dirty and smelled of smoke. This was at Midnight!!!! We went back to the desk, got another room. It was ok. Except 30 minutes later another couple was trying to get into our room. That room was double booked. The girl at the front desk did not seem to care about anything. We could not get a receipt for the first of a two night stay. I cancelled the second night the next morning. I was not going to stay there. If we left our car, I would have to pay $5 to park my car. There is no valet service. It is a hotel parking lot. Would NEVER stay here again!

Pros: The hotel has serious potential to be beautiful if someone would take care of it. Hotels.com went above and beyond to make sure that our negative experience didn't ruin our road trip.
Cons: The manager was beyond rude; he swore when speaking to me on the phone and pretended a manager was unavailable when he later told me he was standing there the whole time. All I wanted to do was make sure he wouldn't charge me for the nights that I wasn't staying. The hotel was dirty, visible crud and wrappers on the floors and walls of the hallways and our room, and the very strong smell of cigarette smoke and mildew. The carpet in our room was wavy from water damage and the beds were as hard as boards. There was no mini-fridge or microwave in the room. Two out of three elevators weren't working, the pool and hot tub were closed and so was the restaurant they were supposed to have. I just can't get over how rude the manager was or that he would lie to customers. Hotels.com did everything right though.

Pros: We loved the location. It was near the airport and featured a park and stay. We stayed one night and felt that the room was okay. Nothing too special but nothing really wrong with it either. It's really one of those hotels where you get exactly what you pay for. It was quiet, didn't really hear anything at all and we do appreciate that. The pool was decent. I loved the park and stay feature. We paid $4 a day to park at the hotel rather than parking at the airport for a much bigger price. The shuttles were nice and when we got back to the city and the shuttle came straight to the airport and picked us back up and delivered us back to the hotel and our car.
Cons: We were really bummed that the hot tub wasn't working AT ALL. It was colder than the pool actually. And there wasn't even a sign or anything to let us know it was broken. This hotel was okay for one night. We aren't sure we would stay there for longer though.

Seems like the owner would rather keep every dime he makes instead of making the hotel a nice, clean and relaxing place for the guests. Also, my room was on the ground floor and guests coming and going could see in my room as there was not a closable curtain

Cons: The room included a sleep number bed, which they didnt tell us. It wasn't actually working or plugged in, so we just thought the mattress was rock hard. When we asked for a different room, we were told they would fix the bed. After a day out, we came back to find the bed still unplugged and rock hard. The pool heater was broken and the hot tub had not been cleaned. Two people were actually smoking inside the hallway of the building. When we complained a second time that it was not fixed, we were yelled at by the building manager. We chose to go elsewhere for our third night. I've never had such poor customer service in my entire life. I would avoid this hotel even if the room were free.

Cons: Hotel smell terrible, it could be health hazard. The room was in professional clean. First room I have the bed sheet had spots on, it was too nasty to sleep on. The receptionist was will to chant us new room. Second room the trash was not empty, smell of old wet paint was so strong, the tv was the old version unlike the picture they shown and the remote wasn't working. Even though we didn't pay much to stay but this is not even worth to stay. The breakfast was unsanitary, I was afraid to eat anything from there. Stay away if you don't want to get sick.

Cons: This hotel was disgusting! Yes, it is under renovation so the lobby and all of the floors are in disarray, but everything is filthy. I had to walk around stained mattresses that were just laying in the hallway, old furniture stacked in the hallway, old broken drywall everywhere. This hotel has no business renting rooms while this kind of construction is goes on. I didn't feel safe and decided not to stay the night. Will never attempt to stay here again.

This hotel is trying to skimp on every penny and could care less about service. The beds were rock hard. I could go on, I don't usually leave reviews for places, but this was terrible. They said they had new management again it would be nice to know this information before we book. Wish i couls get a refund....

Pros: The price, we paid $52 per night. We are college students so we are used to living with bare minimum. We thought it would be okay based on some of the reviews and the pictures. However, the pictures lied and the reviewer must have been lucky in their stay, we were not.
Cons: The room was nothing like the pictures. There was no easy way to get to the lobby so we had to take a long roundabout way. The room was old and outdated. The bathroom fan sounded like a garbage truck in our room and there were water stains on the ceiling. One of the lights didn't work and was falling apart. It rained one of the days and we had to listen to a loud persistent drip from the air conditioner all night and morning, even got up to see if it was leaking. They did not have a mini fridge or microwave, and the ice machine was broken and leaking all over the floor for multiple days. There was free breakfast but there was minimal selection and all the food was gone before 8am and they didn't bring out more. In addition, we were told there was free wifi, the wifi ended up not working in our room and my fiance had to go to the lobby to use it. Even in the cheapest of hotel stays there has always been shampoo and conditioner mini bottles, there were none, not the biggest thing but just thought it was strange.

Cons: The overall appearance of the property is very dirty, and very unkempt, and had a very bad smell! I was only able to stand being in the pool area for about 5min before I had to leave. Walking across the deck area, my foot almost went through a very rotted out section. My room smelled very strongly of bleach to the point it burned my eyes. As this was already my second room due to no working bathroom lights in the first one, I did not ask to change again. The sheets were stained, and the comforter was a bit worn. I noticed as I was leaving that there was spots of smeared blood on the door. Very disconcerting

Pros: The lobby was nice. It had a really cool courtyard with potential, but basically it was left to rot by the owners. The front desk guy had a lot of patience, but it appears he had a lot of practice. They had a hot tub that worked, and my kids swam in that because the pool was liquid ice (see below). My room was ckean and well organized.
Cons: The swimming pool was cold, i know what the last feelings of the titanic victims were cold. The restaurant in the hotel was decent, but expensive for what it was. My food sat out under a heat lamp forever, and the shrimp put on it were possibly edible, but I didnt take the chance.

Pros: stayed here for a concert weekend get-a-way. staff members were polite and helpful. upon checking in inquired with front desk about cab to sprint center, cab info was quick and accurate ( cab was less than $30 roundtrip), just as front desk had said it would be. hotel is within walking distance of dennys, mcdonalds, arbys, subway, c-store, and a burger king across the street, but the real find was Helens jad bar in the adjacent parking lot. bar is difficult to see from the road and all paring is in rear of building (as is the entrance). give this bar a try, happy hour drink specials were great, and the bartender Josh will treat you right. The hotel is located less then 5 miles from harrahs and Ameristar casinos which was also a plus. had originally booked for only one night, but staff were eager to upgrade our room for the second nights stay at a great Saturday night rate! Although there are some signs of age, wear, and tear, I would certainly recommend this hotel. the friendly staff, location, and the value made this a great stay for us

Shower looked great but the shower head only had two settings: like a garden hose and a mist. Elevator floors were sticky! Not enough restaurants open.

Stayed here to separate weeks and both times had leaky shower faucets and issues with noisy air conditioners. Also had to request special housekeeping to get rid of mildew smell in the shower. I wouldn't have booked the second week except that I couldn't get government travel rate in time to find someplace different.

Pros: Fantastic hotel, great experience. We were staying with our two young children, ages 4 and 7, and two teenagers, aged 18 and 19. They all loved it. They used the pool (we had a wedding) and said it was fantastic. Breakfast was a little confusing...not everything was together, but manageable. The food was great. Our room had two queen beds and a pull out sofa. The kids all used the bedroom and we stayed on the couch when we got back from the wedding.
Cons: The pull out couch was one of the most uncomfortable things i have ever slept on. We felt every spring in the "mattress", which was about 3 inches thick. I think the floor would have been a better option, but who wants to sleep on a hotel room floor? If not for the horrible mattress, would have given 5 stars.

Pros: Really enjoyed the stay! If you're looking to experience the nightlife of Kansas City, 816's location on Westport is perfect. I chose this hotel to experience the city as well as for a medical school interview. The shuttle was prompt and the driver very personable. The hotel is still going through some renovations. Cons: Check in wasnt very friendly or helpful. The amenities were explained to the people checking in before us but not to us. The room didn't have enough outlets and the bathroom was dated. But my biggest complaint was the tub. It wasn't clean and black sediments were coming up from the drain and also through the spout. We called the front desk and they came to clean it but it didn't solve the problem. This was frustrating because we were needing to use it to get ready and leave for an event.

Pros: This hotel is a great alternative to staying in hotels directly on the Plaza. I enjoyed the comfortable beds and free breakfast omelet bar that is included with each stay. The hotel's staff were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Be sure to ask them to match or beat any online rate for this hotel that you are able to find if you plan to stay several days. Parking is convenient and several restaurants are within walking distance, including the Westport Flea Market which has been chosen as KC's best burger restaurant each year for the last 30 years.

The water pressure in the shower was sad and house keeping tried coming in at seven am, which I later learned was because we had been checked out, even though I never checked us out. Over 10 people in 2 nights to include me had our VEHICLE WINDOWS smashed in the hotel parking lot. Cost me $245 to fix. GM did not seem to care as no staff gave us any warning and it happened to others just the night before. After all 7 of us spoke with him he offered no compensation for our room or support. I booked through 3rd party and he has no copy of my reservation and told me it was my problem not his, took me an hour to check in. Others staying were put in rooms under renovation or booked two beds and opened their door to find one and were told to deal with it. DO NOT STAY HERE! I have never written a review for a hotel but for Michael and the 816 - they earned it - spread the word!

Pros: We loved the service! The ladies at the front desk were so awesome!! Check in was fun! The omelet bar, while busy, was delicious and a bonus. This hotel is within walking distance to Westport. There's a great pizza place across the parking lot. If you don't want to walk back the shuttle service is free and friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay. :)

Pros: I absolutely appreciate how understanding the respectful the staff was to us and our needs. They alowed us to borrow cleaning supplies to keep our room clean with out having to pay extra for housekeeping. They understoood our financial situation and were as accommodating as they could be with in the rules.
Cons: Spme.of the other guests were not considerate of others, in that they would play loud music/tv all hours and slam doors and what not. The power went out 2 times during our stay 2 weeks, but that was out of their control.
