Was downgraded rooms after using an upgrade. Poor greeting on arrival. Attempts at upsell on arrival.
It was a really clean and nice hotel. It was at a great location near the beach. Was able to walk to everything. Got a free upgrade when I checked in. Would go back again!
Free breakfast - omelette lady was fantastic (great personality / fast / great cook).
Hotel is very dated, smells heavily of artificial air freshener, way overpriced (I used 50,000 Marriott points - same as the Ritz on the beach in Santa Barbara?!) - unfortunately the entire area is this way - high demand / low supply of rooms so lots of lousy accommodations for high prices. Expect to pay $500+ for a decent room (not here).
Room was spacious and service was good. Convenient location.
Room needs to be renovated. Carpet and furniture are tired and don’t feel clean. Bathroom is old and mediocre. Ventilation is poor. Disappointed overall in quality of room.
Marriott review - Monterey
Service at the bar/Starbucks location
Very slow food service, old school floors, wallpaper, & pop corn ceilings.
Monterey Marriott offers scenic comfort right in the heart of downtown Monterey Bay, California. Along with the perk of the Marriott brand, the hotel also offers an unmatched location for tourists and business travelers.
The hotel is connected via sky-bridge to the Monterey Convention Center, in the heart of downtown, and within walking distance to many art galleries, restaurants, shops, and stunning homes. The oceanfront trails and beaches are an easy walk away, as is popular Fisherman’s Wharf. Guests can easily explore popular attractions, including Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Carmel Valley, and Historic Downtown Monterey. Cannery Row and Pebble Beach are also nearby offering legendary golf courses, fine dining, family fun, upscale shopping, and a hopping nightlife.
While staying at the hotel, guests can enjoy a sparkling outdoor pool, jacuzzi, and 24-hour fitness center. There is also a full-service spa on-site with a relaxing treatment list. The two on-site restaurants offer a delectable menu, and a lobby coffee bar fulfills caffeine needs. The business center, valet parking, and convenient downtown location across from the conference center are ideal for business travelers. Guests can also enjoy versatile event space for weddings, meetings and social engagements.
Accommodations are airy and come in a variety of sizes ranging from guestrooms to suites which fit all needs of travelers. The beautifully appointed deluxe amenities include high-speed WiFi, Smart TVs with Netflix, and striking views of the city and bay. It’s a classy, comfortable place to ret after a long day of business or exploring in Monterey Bay.
