Cons: The restaurant food took a terribly long time -- a total of 1.5 hours for our lunch to arrive. A group of four of us ordered lunch at 3:00pm when the restaurant was dead quiet. There were only five other guests in the restaurant. We ordered one appetizer and our entrees were two salads, one soup, and one burger. The wait time was horrendously long and the staff would not take the initiative to re-fill our water.

Pros: I have never stayed at a hotel that had such an amazing complimentary breakfast. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was wonderful.
Cons: It does not include a lounge for dancing. My husband and I wanted to dance a bit but not really go to a club. It would have been nice if the hotel had a lounge were we could sit and dance a bit.

Cons: When I arrived the hostess told me that my reservation was cancelled by the hotel because I modified my booking and they foud two reservations, one cancelled and one for one night: they deliberately cancelled the good reservation ! Then they reopened my reservation, after I was complaining, and they assign me a smelly room. There were a strong foul smell in the room, I guess from the toilet. I complain again and they changed the room to a normal one. I really don't like to arrive to an hotel late in the evening after a long trip and have this kind of problems !

Pros: Compared to the last time I stayed there, they really stepped up on the cleanliness. much better Also at the dinner party we attended I had a horrible headache and needed a coffee badly. the server Liam and Juan were very helpful and kind to get me the coffee and check back on me to see if I was better.

Also I could not pay for room service with a credit card nor cash, they wanted me to provide a 50.00 deposit to use room service and the difference would be returned at check out. I felt this was unacceptable for hotel of that quality.

Pros: The room was properly clean. Amenities are very good. The shower is very nice and the toilet room is modern and kept in good condition. Reception clerks were helpful and the wake-up call service was provided very well and timely.
Cons: The second reservation was charged higher by another travel agency which was provided by Kayak different to the one I used for the first night. and i was given a room without balcony. I ordered the same fish for dinner on the second reservation of my trip but it was not the same quality, it was a different fish, greasy, without the same sauce used on the fish on the first night. Security personnel are unfriendly. They are not securing a prison. This is a hotel. They can greet customers in a nicer way. Free shuttle drivers are pushy. They ask for tips as soon as we get off at the hotel. It happened on the first reservation I had. They should allow some areas for smokers. Many people still smoke all over the world. At least in the open air close to swimming pool bar.

We told the desk what happened and gave her a card with the cab drivers name on it and asked she call him. We told her our phones weren{t on the network yet and we spoke very limited Spanish. She spoke good English. She just pointed to a pay phone and said we would need a quarter. Bottom line on this we got the bag back but to me this is not acceptable. We are guests and they wouldn{t even do a phone call?

Pros: Booked there just because I needed to be close to the airport. When I travel I have to sleep in Panama one night and catch my flight the next morning and reading the reviews for the two hotels close to the airport I chose this one. The reviews were completely wrong.
Cons: First I requested a King being that my husband and I were traveling together, was given a double double and told that they didn't have another room. I made the reservation with enough time in advance. When we arrived to the room the bathroom toilet was completely backed up and the phone had been set up in a way that couldn't be used. Passed by the front desk and told them about and they said they would send someone to take a look and help us with those problems, no one ever showed up. We were so tired from the trip that my husband and I fell asleep in this disgusting room, woke up at 6:00 am and left. Needless to say, the experience was AWFUL

Pros: The hotel felt very grande when entering. Everything is marble and large which made the experience feel more high class. The staff was very nice the whole time. WORKOUT FACILITY: I was extremely impressed with the workout facility. A massive space with all new looking equipment. It was a pleasant surprise as I like to get a workout in every day on trips. BREAKFAST: I received 1 free breakfast pass for each day I stayed here. My wife had not received a pass so the staff was kind enough to move my second day pass to having two on the first day. We were checking out early so didn't need day 2 anyway. The restaurant view was *amazing* from the patio. Overlooking the whole waterway, it was one of the best view photos I took the whole trip. The food was better than most, nothing to complain about, but nothing mind blowing. And you shouldn't expect mind blowing with a free meal anyway. TAXI SERVICE: We booked a taxi with the staff downstairs to take a tour of the Panama Canal. It was $30 one way which is a little more expensive than a normal taxi, but it was worth the price. The driver even offered to wait up to 1.5 hours for us to finish the tour and drive us back for another $30. We elected not to do this and just find a cheaper taxi on the way back. We had plenty of space in their van, plus the driver was extremely kind and helped provide some info on Panama since we were new here. They also provided 2 bottles of water which is great in Panama. We also booked a taxi for one of our nights out. We were able to negotiate with the driver to bring it down to $20 for a trip to Old Town. I would HIGHLY recommend negotiating the taxi price no matter where you go or who it's with. It just felt like any taxi driver would say $30 regardless of where we were going. So negotiate! OVERALL PRICE: The price was about double of other Hilton brand hotels in the area but you could definitely tell the difference. I would say it was worth the price. However, if you're looking for a bargain, just stay at another Hilton brand hotel.
Cons: ROOM UPGRADE: I am a Hilton Gold member so I received an upgrade to a Junior Suite, however the room they provided was no where near a waterfront view and more tucked away near other buildings. Because of this we had to keep our windows closed the whole time because neighboring buildings could easily see into our room. Typically when you're upgraded the immediate choice is a waterfront view. The individual at the front desk didn't appear to know how to handle upgrades which is why I think we ended up where we did. I was slightly disappointed with that. Besides the view, the room was very nice. Much larger and more modern than any room I've stayed in before, which I liked. MINI BAR: The mini bar had a great selection but far too expensive to justify any item. An airplane bottle sized shot was $7-$8. It would have been nice if there was at least some complimentary snacks or bottled water especially being a Hilton Gold member. This is actually the first time we didn't receive anything complimentary while checking in. I got the feeling it was because the person at the front desk didn't know how to handle it.

Pros: Wow wow wow. From the moment the valet took our car we were greeted by the friendliest bellman Jonny who helped us get an early check in so our 1 year old daughter could nap. They upgraded is to a deluxe suite, gave us vouchers for drinks and even brought a guitar to our room. Unreal service. The food was amazing and the pools and views were spectacular. DO NOT LISTEN TO PEOPLE COMPLAINING. The hotel is 5 stars all the way.

Cons: Unfortunately when I booked my reservation, my confirmation email did not state that the hotel would request additional money of no less than $200 to place a hold on my credit card. The lady was friendly enough and placed only$100.00 on hold however when I returned back to the hotel, an additional $100.00 was authorized by the hotel without my permission. And unfortunately, when you call the U.S. number/toll free number their only suggestion is to incur international calling fees and call the hotel directly. Also I did not like how the hotel advertises a FREE SHUTTLE to and from the hotel, only to find out that the shuttle is for their corporate guests only. That information was very misleading and was a big factor in why we booked with this hotel. The shuttle cost is $32.00 roundrip per person. Also they ask you for your room number or make you write it on your receipts in just about everywhere you go...I.E. the bar for drinks, one of the hotels restaurants, the night club, and for breakfast in the morning. I suggest you get a statement of your charges during your stay. We were charged tip for drinks to our room and we tip our servers cash!!! Also, the bathroom in our room had a terrible sewage smell!! JUST BEWARE!! I WOULDN'T STAY HERE AGAIN!! It was too misleading for me! They don't tell you all this stuff when you're booking the room.

Pros: Rooms were beautiful. Hot water, 24-7 room service, English speaking staff, gorgeous scenery, beautiful sounds every morning from the birds and other wildlife. Also, the Gamboa Resort, which is in the middle of a national park, partners with Gamboa Tours. We went on a night safari on the first night and saw crocodiles, caimans, and a capybara! The next day, we took a speed boat through the canal to lake Gatun, where we saw howler monkeys, tamarin monkeys (which came onto the front of the boat!), and white-faced capuchin monkeys! The aerial tram was beautiful, as were the orchid nursery and butterfly habitat on the hotel grounds. Finally, we took a trip to Portabelo, which was about an hour and a half from the resort, and saw ruins from 1500 and the famous church with the Black Jesus statue. The Gamboa Resort is a great place to stay if you want to experience all of this.

Pros: This was our first visit to Gamboa and we loved the jungle tours, both arial tram and boat tours were vey enjoyable and had great staff. 'However the staff in the hotel and restuarant were very lazy, inattentive and seemed untrained and lack the needed hospitality and services that one would expect from a hotel like Gamboa Resort. Especially since they are part of a larger hotel group , including Westin. I have been a starwoods member for many years and this hotel does not live up to the reputation of other hotels in this same class.
Cons: When we checked in they never asked for a credit card for incidentals. The room was prepaid for. When we went to sign up for our air tram excursion, because there was not CC on file and could not bill to the room, the tour staff at the tour desk took cash for our canal tour of $85. gave us a reciept and two stickers to wear and we went on the tour. Our guide was Yasir sp? He would remember us as we were the only two at the end of the day and spent time with him. When we checked out the next day, the front desk said we owed 85. for the air tram. We explained what happened but he billed us anyway because there was no record of it. We would NOT have been able to go on the tour IF we did not pay and have ticket/sticker to enter. CLearly a mistake by the staff because they do not think ahead, take CC at check in for incidental, do not communicate with eachother . I had a conversation with the front desk but they just looked at me like they did not know what to do . Please refund my Amex for $85. the remaining difference on the total $103 charge an remain. We would like to return and try it again in the future and bring our guests, but do expect that this hotel needs extensive training for its staff and how to NOT make mistakes such as this one. thanks

Cons: I expected more activities and entertainment. We became bored relatively quickly. We expected to see more animals and be constantly reminded we were in the middle of the rainforest. Unfortunately, neither happened. The tourist desk staff were not as accommodatIng as I would have expected. The bathroom needed renovations but the shower head was new and worked well. The bed was comfortable. Being one of the few accommodations in the middle of the rainforest is a wonderful concept and I hope they expand this more. When they do, I hope to return.

The hotel and pool area were beautiful and there were plenty of things to see and do during our 4 day visit in Jan. for nature lovers who take advantage of the many trails leading from the property, as well as the guided rainforest and boat tours. Our only complaint was the limited choice of food, since the options outside the hotel are practically nonexistent in Gamboa. The hotel food was just okay. Thanks to this resort, people are able to have an extended experience in the best rainforest of Panama, instead of only day trips from Panama City.

This trip I was informed that they now charge $50 for an extra "guest", additionally you are required the walk of shame twice, at a busy reception to check-in your guest then again at the elevator, VERY EMBARRASSING... The A/C didn't work at the casino, lobby and my room. Additionally, on the 8th floor is a major mold problem. Summary the reason men stay here was because of convenience if they now are gonna charge and embarrass you. Go to any other clean hotel that charges the same $50 but at least the hotel nice.

The front desk tells you up front that there's a $50 charge to take girls up to your room and that is the only time they really look interested in helping you. The bar won't even serve you a drink once they see you tell the girls that you are there for business and not interested in their propositions. The bartender flat out refused to serve me a beer once he got a look from one of the pimps. Do not go there for business if you have to wake up early the next day!

The floor smelled like dirty feet and the air conditioner did not work. We moved to another floor that was "cooler" but the A/C still did not work to American standards.
