Pros: Hotel Plaza Athenee (HPA) is the definition of superlative luxury. As an American in Paris, to be welcomed into The HPA is, in a profound sense, to be welcomed into the heart of France . . . into Parisian luxury. I must, in truth, admit that I am a person of exacting standards (my professional life requires such standards). Thus, for me to state highly complimentary remarks about a hotel amounts to deeply resonant truth. And too, I am deeply aware that the world contains people who have great means and those who have little or no means. Given this as background, my fervent wish is that all persons could experience the luxurious delight of The Hotel Plaza Athenee.

Pros: Facilies were very nice and the location is very central. Very short walk to multiple train lines and metro. With one exception with an encounter with a bartender which was terrible, the staff was great. Most front door men are always hustling bags, giving directions and calling cabs. All spoke English.
Cons: Family's be aware of one minor quirk. The bathroom and shower doors are clear glass with a dulling switch. It just doesn't get real dull. It's still very see through for all members to see. However the rooms were very modern and clean.

Cons: There was no room for unpacking our clothes! stayed for one week and there was not a single drawer or shelf to store anything so after paying the rate of a 4 star hotel, we got the "confort" level of a 2 star hotel instead. The carpets were filthy and the matresses were soiled! The narrow hallways smelled and felt like a cheap cruiseship. We are very dissapointed with the quality of the rooms and the overall value of this hotel.

Pros: A very interesting business concept—somewhat hip/edgy, extremely functional room layout & design in tight quarters (for a double bed, one party has to crawl over the other to reach the other parts of the room), and very automated (raising/lowering day and night screening for the window, lighting levels, etc. all done using an iPad with a customized app). Breakfast & helpfulness of staff were excellent. Not much in the way of room cleanup between the nights we stayed there, but that may be something one has to specifically request.

Pros: I can honestly say that the staff at this hotel were the best I have ever met. Every one of them was friendly and helpful and after two nights it felt like we were leaving friends behind. Thank you to you all The hotel itself was very nice, clean and tidy. The breakfast room and outdoor area are lovely and the breakfast itself was a great mix of anything and everything you could wish for all cooked very well

Pros: We needed a place for 1 night stopping through Paris, on the way to London next day via eurostar. The room was small but not by Paris standards. The bed and shower were perfect. The staff was super helpful and nice. For the money it was the perfect place to crash for the night.

Cons: It was far from all historic places that we wanted to see and go in Paris so we had to take a bus or train at day time and taxi at night since I didn't feel safe walking in that area. If you are staying for few days I suggest to get a hotel close to area you are planning to vist but if you are planing to stay for a week or more this is a good place if you don't mind paying for taxi at night!

Pros: Good location for our purposes between 2 great metro/RER stations. (Gard du Nord & Gare de l'est) but a bit off the beaten path. Need to work on the lighting in the bathroom - hard to see for make-up and hair. Otherwise, room was great. My daughter and I had 2 twin beds and a corner room with small balcony facing the street - it was spacious and quiet on the 5th floor. Would stay here again. Spent little time at the hotel but it was quiet, comfortable and clean and the staff was very personable. Can't speak to the food as we did not eat at the hotel at all.

Pros: The hotel room was on the small side but very well equipped for the price! We especially enjoyed the multi-room speaker system with headphone jack plug that we used with our iPhone to play music, the rain shower with great water pressure, the windows that overlooked the courtyard that opened all the way up with a great breeze, the big closet that fit all our bags and clothes for our long trip, the mostly friendly staff that understood English well. The proximity to the metro stations was nice but we found Rue Magenta to be very sketchy with a lot of vagrants, loiterers and gypsy beggars.
Cons: We did not have a good experience with one of the night guards, we asked him to call us a taxi but when it was taking too long to arrive and we changed our minds he got very mad and almost began yelling at us. We had a dinner reservation to make on time and would have missed it if we waited for his cab to arrive. That's not the proper way to treat a guest at your hotel. Also the "spa" was disappointing, there was no privacy and other guests were walking in and out during our reservation time, including hotel staff interrupting the water bed massage midway asking if we had made an appointment. Yes we did make an appointment, please check your books instead of interrupting! So that experience was completely ruined.

The shower is extremely poorly designed so that every time you use them it floods the bathroom floor with water, this makes showering a chore and could easily be avoided with some small renovations. 2. This hotel is located in a somewhat dubious area, not what you would expect, given the price you are paying.

Pros: Staff was friendly, welcoming. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk as our room was not ready for check-in. We arrive to Paris earlier than the check-in time. We dropped off our luggage and went about our day. By the time we came back, it was great to know the staff brought our luggage to our room.

Cons: the staff, the cheap, tacky interior, the filthyness, the rude staff constantly smoking .. the loud noisy contruction all through the night, the paper thin walls to here the lowlifes staying in the area fight, the constant sounds of sirens and distress calls.. did i mention the rude staff. the bugs and spiders in the bathroom, the lazy housekeeping service.. the stink of musty furniture throughout the place. i wouldnt even consider the food after seeing the filthy environment

Pros: I needed an inexpensive hotel near Gare de Lyon, so I could catch an early morning train without too much hassle. The hotel is very good value for the money. The first floor of the hotel is currently being renovated. My room was small, but extremely clean and comfortable, fine for a single traveler. The reception was courteous and the hotel safe.

Pros: I was travelling solo with a broken ankle (not recommended) & the hotel both gave me a ground floor room to give easier access & also prioritised my room getting cleaned so that I was able to get in to rest before 2pm. Everyone was lovely & friendly & helped wherever they could. Also, the pillows are fantastic!
Cons: There was some minor damage in the bathroom but nothing serious, just the results of water! There aren’t really any facilities on site but this isn’t the sort of hotel you go to for that - it’s amazingly close to the Gare de Lyon & lots of good restaurants so it’s more of a stopover than a luxury stay kind of place.

Two guests arrived after us got much better rooms. Only difference we booked thru Expedia and other guests booked directly with Hotel.

Pros: Location was fantastic, extremely close to a metro station that you could take to pretty much wherever in Paris you wanted to go. Whilst the hotel was very luxurious (especially after a free upgrade to the executive suite) the immediate area around the hotel was rather grubby, with some intimidating homeless stationed not too far from the main entrances. The facilities were great, a nice looking gym on the 3rd floor, the pool was very nice albeit a little smaller than the photos make out. The restaurant was reasonably priced, and the food was decent. The hotel staff very friendly and spoke a variety to languages and I felt there was no real language barrier. The hotel room was very comfortable and clean and could not be faulted.
Cons: Surrounding area a little scary in contrast to the niceness of the hotel. Walls are rather thin, and could hear the surrounding guests quite clearly.

Pros: This was the worse hotel experience ever.
Cons: I am very displeased with the quality and service provided during my stay at this Ibis. To start, I booked this hotel because the description indicated “the new ibis room” to celebrate my eighth wedding anniversary. To my surprise it was completely the contrary. When we arrived at the hotel, I asked the receptionist to confirm my specific room requests (indicated above and below). The individual had us wait for about 30 minutes because allegedly his manager was confirming that the room was in order. When we arrived to the room, it was very displeasing to my wife and to myself for the following reasons: 1. The hallway floor had old carpet with noticeable large stains. Clearly not maintained. 2. The room itself was one of the worst maintained hotel room I have ever stayed. Old floor, walls, cabinets sidings and window paint were peeling off. The bathroom walls, bathtub and in sink all had mold. 3. There is no room service. I dialed more than 5 times to the receptionist with no response. 4. No iron available. It was a siege to validate the door card for access to the only room with an iron. One afternoon, I went to the receptionist three times because the receptionist was unable to successfully validate the card. I regret spending my anniversary under these harsh conditions and I will never again stay at this hotel nor will we ever recommend others to stay here as well. Further and for the above reasons, I would like to officially request compensation and your attention to remediate this situation and halt the false advertisement of a “new ibis room.”

Pros: The location and price! Also the people were all friendly so it's great if you want to meet new people. Free breakfast is also a plus. I had the luck of having a bathroom/shower inside a four people mix gendered room, which is very convenient. They also included safes inside the room.
Cons: The comfort level of the bed and the cleanliness here needs work. But you get what you paid for! Set your expectations appropriately and you'll be fine.

Pros: Comfortable bed, neat free breakfast( in the morning, this guy, I think it might be the manager or owner, was there to serve and accommodate us with the breakfast, I could tell he really cares about a good service, I really appreciate that), free combination small metal safe in the room for each peroson(good for storing passport, wallet or other small valuables), relatively good location, close to a small market(opens til pretty late)
Cons: No sink in the toilet (can't wash hands after using the toilet). The lighting in the room is not very inviting, also didn't find a individual bed head light. It took really long to check-in ( I stood there for 25+ minutes to be checked in)
