Pros: We had an absolutely fabulous holiday in great part due to the amazing team at the Auberge Sainte-Antoine. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The hotel is well located in the lower city with easy access to the river front and the funicular to upper town. Madame Quay arranged multiple events for our group with great success. The entire staff were always courteous and knowledgable. Make sure to take advantage of the Penache Restaurant on the property for breakfast and dinner. I will be back!!

Pros: The renovated room and view
Cons: We were first provided a non renovated room that was not clean, requires a lot of maintenance. Our AC didn't work, ceiling and the mirror lights didn't work. On the 2nd day we informed the desk while heading out in the morning. The issues were not rectified upon our return. We called again prior to leaving for dinner. Upon our return, we noticed the lights were fixed but the AC didn't work all night. Neither was any follow through from the hotel regarding the issues. No follow up call to the room to check on us. Not a luxury service. On the 3rd morning I called and asked for the manager and the AFOM said she would upgrade to renovated room and waive the $40 upcharge as if it was a favor. We had not slept the night before and gladly accepted the offer.

Pros: The hotel is in the best location for someone wanting to see different parts of Quebec City. The staff is very well trained and seems to try to exceed expectations. This is a gorgeous historic hotel that has been extensively renovated. The pool and spa, all the restaurants, etc. are at or above the standards of what you will find in more modern luxury hotels. Based on my experience, I would recommend staying in one of the traditional decor rooms (preferably beginning 62##).
Cons: Initially, we were offered an upgrade to one of the remodeled rooms, but we thought the window was very small and the room felt rather claustrophobic. So, we asked to be put back in the traditional decor, unrenovated rooms and found it to be much larger and comfortable with a double window and a great view. Of course, these two rooms (out of the 600 in the hotel) likely were not representative of all the remodeled/traditional room layouts. Just my experience.

If I had it to do again, I'd stay somewhere else and visit the Chateau. Unless you are loaded and the money means nothing to you, I'd suggest the same.

Pros: This hotel is stunningly beautiful from the outside, it feels like you're staying in a castle. Once inside, it's very charming. They have a really nice bar/lounge on the first floor, that serves great food and has couches and fireplaces in a circle around the bar. And wifi works in there. I would go there with my laptop and work sometimes. Upstairs the pool is huge and really nice, and has a rooftop view of the old city. And the gym facilities are modern and clean, with that same view while you're on the treadmill. Rooms are good. Not "super" luxurious as it's an older building, but definitely nice and clean, and quiet. And the staff is very friendly. I really enjoyed my stay.

An amazing location in QC - right near old Quebec and walking distance to everything you would want to see. Hotel is nicely decorated in lobby, and valet parking made things easier. Wasn't the most modern or fancy hotel but it had Quebec City charm and everything else you could want. No breakfast that I saw but the shops and restaurants are a step away from the front door!

Pros: It was a nice hotel, clean and adequate. For the price, I might have appreciated a bit bigger or a room or a few more 'extras.' The hotel was quite far from the winter carnival grounds so we had to take taxis.
Cons: The desk staff gave us some pretty questionable advice on what to do our first night in town...my idea of fun isn't taking a 30$ taxi ride to the suburbs to watch a parade for children, that no one else even attended. (for the record I am 28 and was visiting town with my 55 year old parents). They also neglected to open the extra cot for which we paid 30$, I hurt my hand in the process and we nearly couldn't get in the door because it was in the way.

Cons: We had breakfast at the restaurant and I had the lobster Benedict. The potatoes were stale and my eggs were full of egg shell. I let the waitress know and their solution was to discount 15%. The meal was over $20 and should have been removed. There was a snow storm the day of checkisses out so I informed the FD that we may need to stay. When I went to check out around 2 pm, flight was departing, she said there would be no additional charge. Then she said because they made a new reservation that they would charge me $50 plus tax. I think this is ridiculous. The hotel is well located with great views but is not modern or luxury but sterile. The food is over priced for the lack of quality of the food.

Cons: We specifically picked the Hilton for the view of the fireworks and the old city. We paid extra for it and were told when we got there that they had no more rooms left with that view?? Instead we were given probably the worst view in the hotel. The room was on the 4th floor looking over the heated pool.

Pros: We enjoyed five nights in a family suite at Hotel Palace Royal. We had our adult nephew with us, and this struck the right balance of family togetherness and privacy -- even having two TVs was a plus. The hotel's location was convenient to everything, yet our room was quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The room layouts are well thought-out, including the spacious two-part bathroom. The decor and furnishings are elegant. Everything met and exceeded our expectations. In a city of great restaurants, we actually had one of our best meals of the trip at Le Beffroi, the steakhouse in the hotel! The rain kept us in that night, but we did not regret it. It was a special occasion meal, and we rate the selections, service, atmosphere, and quality all very high -- in fact, along with being a very good experience, it was a very good value! Room service for breakfast (a time-saver) was also good quality, and surprisingly no more expensive than a comparable breakfast in a restaurant in town.
Cons: The pool is ideal for small children or adults who just want to get in and out, but it isn't suited for swimming laps. Rooms with balconies overlooking the pool might have some chlorine smell and noise.

Pros: Staff was very friendly, bilingual and helpful. We had a larger than typical room as it was handicapped accessible. The kids enjoyed the pull out sofa bed in the separate sitting area (separated by glass doors from the bedroom area) and the jetted tub. The location is very convenient to the Old City and The Citadel. Both areas are just a short 10-15 minute walk. There is also a bus station behind the hotel if you are in need of public transportation. There was a mini-fridge available for use which was spacious enough to hold the iPads and other gaming devices the kids use. There are plenty of mirrors in the bathroom as well as a magnifying mirror.
Cons: The parking garage has very narrow travel lanes with many tight turns. We had a minivan and ended up scraping into a wall due to the tight turn to enter the garage. The parking spots themselves are also very tight with a minivan. If you have anything larger than a small sedan, you may find the underground parking area a challenge to navigate. The maximum height is just slightly over 6 feet so that could also prove challenging to larger vehicles. The lighting in the bathroom is a bit dim. We appreciated that there was a safe available in the room but found it's placement high in the closet inconvenient for an average height woman (I had to stand on a chair). I can't imagine how a wheelchair bound person would ever be able to reach that high without assistance. Our room was on the same level as the pool and had a window facing the walkway. Unfortunately, we needed to keep the curtains closed for privacy as it was a busy area so this made our room dark for most of our stay.

Pros: The hotel is in an excellent location. Easy to walk to everything. The staff was friendly and had many suggestions on places to eat and visit. The room was well appointed and quite large.
Cons: We got to the hotel at 4:30 ( check-in is at 4:00 ) ..there was a long line that didn't move very fast. There was one group that did hold up one agent for a considerable time but it still was a lengthy wait to check in.

Pros: The rooms were on the smaller side however were very comfortable and clean. I surprise was a heated outdoor pool which was excellent. The staff were professional and covered all basics for need to know.
Cons: Nothing major at all. It was just the design of the building and having the so called lobby which is topically found on the ground floor to be on the 3 and next to the doors of the office tower within the same building. Nothing major in the least. Will return again.

We almost stayed an extra night! Everyone was extremely friendly and with our limited French we were able to easily get by (many people answered in English anyway).
Cons: Parking for a big pickup was difficult. It would be good for the front desk staff to still refer guests to the valet but to know if the guests have a big pickup to direct them to the 2 main places for parking. We were told down and to the *left* which took us to a very tight underground parkade for $24 for 24 hours; however, there was a nice open parking lot to the *right* which was $16 for 24 hours.

Pros: Bed was super comfortable and location was great- convenient walk to old town plus Plains of Abraham steps away so kids could run around. We also enjoyed a great brunch at the revolving restaurant in the hotel. We will be back.

Could use reupholstering, and pool was nice to have but water was a bit cloudy, and walk to dressing room chilly and used as a storage room. It was nice to have on a rainy day, but not super. Also, water a bit deep for kids, so combined with cloudiness, I was in particular alert.

Pros: We loved the pool area! We had a three year old daughter and she loved it. The location of the hotel was great and close to everything.
Cons: We got a room for 3 people. When we got there it was 2 double beds. I wish we had a choice as one queen bed would have been better (with a small child) instead of two double beds which was small for a couple.
