It’s a great old building and staffed with excellent people. At triple the cost of most hotels are we getting triple the returns on our money? Hard to answer.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! The hotel is in the heart of downtown Victoria so we were able to walk almost everywhere.
We got a knock on our door after 9pm for turn down service which normally wouldn't be a problem but our children were sleeping at the time.
Beautiful Hotel and Treated Beautifully
We spent Christmas there and they provided us with a stocking on our door for Christmas Day. The staff was extremely helpful at every opportunity, and very responsive to our needs.
My only smallest complaint would be the expense. The hotel is very expensive, but the service largely drives that expense and it really made for a wonderful experience for me and my wife.
Beds were nice and comfortable, Bartenders were great and had suggestions to get value for your money.
Price was excessive compared to other hotels in the area. Considering the price, wifi was not included.
I have a problem with the ATM but they did not help me at all. They only said that the ATM is not of the hotel ,but I think they have to be more helpful in this cases.
Location and views are fantastic. I love these old-style character hotels.
Not up to the standards of other Fairmont Hotels we've stayed in. They messed up our meal reservations and even messed up the correction, so we never did eat there. Some staff really didn't seem to know what they were doing or could even answer or questions properly and never offered to find anything our or get back to us.
Nice but not as special as people say
The rooms are really beautiful.
The facility is under complete renovation. It wasn't as grand as you'd expect. Although the rooms are super nice, I think for the price there are a million better deals to be had. It's slightly over hyped in my opinion.
We loved it!
Great venue and staff!
Had an awesome time at the Empress for our 20th Anniversary. The people everywhere were super helpful and friendly. The location was excellent and within walking distance to so many fun things.
The afternoon tea was enjoyable but definely over priced.
I loved the huge comfortable bed, so much that I didn't want to leave it.. The staff were all helpful and polite which I like a lot...
There was no cold water provided in the room...
Go for a Fairmont Gold room
We booked a Fairmont Gold room based on another recommendation and boy was it worth it. The private lounge is spectacular, the concierges were all extraordinary (and made a big difference helping us maximize our 2 nights in Victoria) and the food and drink (including a fully-stocked honor bar) were fabulous. We felt like royalty.
High Tea at the Empress, the concierge was very helpful helping me book Helijet and bus service into and out of Victoria.
The hotel is well placed by the harbour in Victoria and public areas are very splendid.
The bedroom was appaling, bearing in mind what we were paying. It was tiny, no aircon, empty mini bar and badly in need of a refurb. Steer well clear of this rip-off!
The hotel was lovely. You couldn't ask for a more impressive setting on the harbour, the hustle & bustle of all of the activities in the City are at your fingertips. The staff was extremely delightful. Upon check-in we mentioned we were celebrating a special occassion and were upgraded to a lovely 1 bedroom suite.
