Pros: We were sent to another hotel after having prepaid. There was nothing to like.
Cons: We prepaid for our stay, and upon checking in at 3pm we’re told the hotel was full, but they booked us another room at a different hotel which we would have to walk back in the opposite direction with our bags. They volunteered to cover the city tax for us for the inconvenience, making a big deal about how generous that was of them), however, when we tried to check out of the new hotel, we were told we would still need to pay city tax. They called Hotel Estherea to see if they would honor their promise and they refused. It took multiple phone calls and a great deal of time and hassle before they would agree to honor their original promise. Far too much time and trouble to deal with from a hotel that I prepaid for. I had read a similar review before booking but thought maybe it was a one time thing. When I was actually there it felt like a regular routine they might be up to, taking prepayment for a room, then booking a room at another hotel at a lower rate and pocketing he difference. Stay away.

Pros: The restaurant is very good. Staff is acomodating. I booked the wrong night and when I got there they had three suits left (which were upgrades) and charged me a reasonable upgrade fee for all three rooms. There are privacy doors to the room halls that Agee great. No weirdos or other guests walking, or stumbling for that matter, outside your hotel door making noise and such. The rooms are well appointed in a minimalist sort of way. There is a music station and an espresso pod machine. Bed is very comfortable. More of a Western style bed.
Cons: The bathrooms in Amsterdam hotels are often cold and stark. While it was clean and the water pressure and linens were nice, the bathrooms are very basic without a luxurious feel. Not very well appointed; however in all my stays in Amsterdam, this is quite normal unless you are staying at a Western hotel chain like a SPG or Luxury Collection.

Pros: Cannot say enough about how great our stay was here! We extended our stay by a day we loved it so much. The prices were very reasonable. They checked us in 2 hrs early with zero hassle. All of the room supplies were included. While not exceedingly spacious, everything about the room and hotel oozed modern style. There was interesting literature on the shelves. The beds were clean and comfortable. In the lobby was a hip restaurant with delicious and affordable faire which we frequented almost every day, and at night became a popular bar until 1 am. There were many other places to eat, shop, or stroll past from the Hoxton's central location, but it was far enough removed from the main tourist areas to feel somewhat local. I would recommend this place to anyone except maybe those traveling with children, as I believe they had to "cheat" to fit us into a single room, and we are smaller than your average humans as it was.

Pros: Spectacular experience, I loved the vibe and design of the space. All finishes are high quality and products they give you in the room smell fabulous . Breakfast is also excellent. Cons: My single room was tiny. It was impossible to see the television from the bed. In the evening, the lobby turned into a very crowded and noisy nightlife venue. Because of the crowd, it was difficult to get in and out of the hotel. Would never stay here again.

Pros: The location is very central making it easy to get anywhere. breakfast is in a gorgeous winter garden-type room and the selection is very diverse. Staff were always helpful and accomodating.
Cons: I was on the first floor and there didn't seem to be a staircase that I could take to go one flight of stairs. It was annoying always having to wait for the elevator (which was insanely crowded) for such a tiny distance. Also, no gym which I expect in a hotel of this size and class.

Cons: Keys stopped working every day and it takes a very long time to get from the room tothe front desk to get new ones. I also was unable to make my first night due to a change in our flight that was beyond my control and although I called more than 24 hours before arrival they would not refund my first night stay. I would not suggest pre paying. I have worked in hotels so I know there are always ways staff can make it up to you - free breakfast, bottles of wine, discounts on future stays etc. Nothing was done

Pros: Good location. Our room had a kitchenette, which was basically just a fridge and some storage cabinets, and a stove top. (but no cookware).
Cons: Our room overlooked the lobby, hotel bar, and restaurant, so we heard everything that happened in the lobby. Hotel claims to have AC but it had been turned off for the year, even though it was unseasonably warm when we were there in October. We can live without AC but the windows don't open. Staff weren't wiling/able to move us to a different room when we asked. Wouldn't stay again, and wouldn't recommend.

Pros: Overall we had a pleasant stay, due to short notice travel we paid $250 per night whic is way too much for this hotel. The location was very convenient, walk to most tourists attractions and a tourist restaurants. The bedding was clean. Due to the urin smell in the bathroom the hotel gave us breakfast vouchers.
Cons: This hotel is rated at 4, it is 3 star at best. The interior itself is dated, you can tell they have tried improving it by panting and cleaning the carpets. It is obvious a remodel is in order to bring it up to 4 star standard. I believe most European hotel turn off the ability to run the AC in the winter. With the windows closed the room became rather stuffy, we slept with the window open on the 6th floor with ear plugs in since the partying went on till 4am. The toilet had a constant urin smell even after having the maid clean with bleach and leaving us an air freshener. Maintenance replaced the sink trap but still smelled. My wife called the front desk for a simple question and front desk clerk by the name of Alessio(male with a beard) was rude and condescending.

I didnt feel welcome at all and she seemed more interested in getting me off her back so she could smoke a cigarette than actually helping me. After getting food and walking around a bit I came back and was helped by another lady who was so sweet and gracious. Pros: The location is perfect for convenience to attractions of Amsterdam and places to eat. Amsterdam overall is so walkable and from this base it is easy to just set out & explore the city. The breakfast was ample and satisfying, plenty to choose from the buffet plus fresh preparations. It is also very close to a grocery store so you can easily get vittles & wine to consume in your room if you need to economize. My room was very small but I didn't need more and it suited my needs perfectly. Luxurious ensuite bathroom and good supply of hot water. Bed & pillows were comfortable & the duvet was cozy (my visit was in December).
Cons: Rembrandtplein is a touristy neighborhood that attracts a late-night crowd that can be rowdy & raucous well into the wee hours. Good thing that the windows are pretty thick. However the interior walls of the hotel are not so thick and if you have noisy young neighbors (as I did for the first two nights of my four-night stay) you will hear every note of their music. After enduring two nights of their nonsense I asked to be moved. The management was eager to oblige my request, but as it turned out the offenders were checking out that day, so I chose to remain where i was, and all was well after that.

Pros: The location of the hotel was central to the main tourist areas of Amsterdam.
Cons: The room was not very updated and located at the very bottom of the hotel. No elevator to go down and had to go down a few sets of stairs.

Pros: I must say the location was unbeatable for me. Very close to the Central train station and the bars around.
Cons: The staff was not much friendly. I woke up afternoon due to jetlagging. The housekeeping had left already to clean up the room and change the towels. They couldn't give me extra towel. Indicating "the towel is limited". The room was so small and the bed was small and not comfortable. I wouldn't stay there again!

Cons: Alert customer ( guest) assigned room may not have elevator access.....many stairs with heavy luggage and no assistance. Advertised as non smoking when in fact there was nonstop ( weed) smoking. Throat is still burnt out from it.

Cons: We arrive at the hotel after paying for a twin room to only be told there was no rooms available as it was fully booked and two 21year old males had to share a double bed. The room was unclean with a broken shower head. Hotel staff were unorganised; I put a deposit down on a plug converter which I was then told there’s nothing to show I’ve left a deposit. The manager doesn’t work weekends and nothing can be resolved without a manger which isn’t good for a weekend party. Yet to hear back from the email I sent.

Pros: The rooms were not large but a good size for a hotel in an older building. The breakfast was nice. Enjoyed the option to have fried eggs or omelettes cooked to order. Check in was quick and all staff were friendly and accommodating. This hotel is in the museum district but a 30 minute walk from the train station and the harbour.

Pros: I really liked my bedroom and the view ti the "Rembrandt Square" It has an antique romantic vibe and the stuff is really nice. bed was comfortable. unfortunately did not try the 10 euro breakfast that was until 10 or 11 AM i think.
Cons: There is no easy way to get your luggage to the room, you have to carry it up the stairs and if you are at the last floor, its 4X15~ stairs. This may be a small issue for women with big suitcases.

Cons: sheets looked like they hadn't been washed since '92, room stunk, and there was insane noise from the street. i don't mean people partying, i mean construction, sirens, screams, jackhammers, it sounded like someone was banging pots and pans around. be brave
