Cons: Keys stopped working every day and it takes a very long time to get from the room tothe front desk to get new ones. I also was unable to make my first night due to a change in our flight that was beyond my control and although I called more than 24 hours before arrival they would not refund my first night stay. I would not suggest pre paying. I have worked in hotels so I know there are always ways staff can make it up to you - free breakfast, bottles of wine, discounts on future stays etc. Nothing was done

Pros: The location is very central making it easy to get anywhere. breakfast is in a gorgeous winter garden-type room and the selection is very diverse. Staff were always helpful and accomodating.
Cons: I was on the first floor and there didn't seem to be a staircase that I could take to go one flight of stairs. It was annoying always having to wait for the elevator (which was insanely crowded) for such a tiny distance. Also, no gym which I expect in a hotel of this size and class.

Pros: It's right in the center of things and I had no problem walking to most of the hotspots in the city which was awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great design of the place as the rooms are pretty stunning. Would def recommend to others

Cons: When I first arrived my initial contact with a hotel was with less than welcoming. I didnt feel welcome at all and she seemed more interested in getting me off her back so she could smoke a cigarette than actually helping me. After getting food and walking around a bit I came back and was helped by another lady who was so sweet and gracious. I'm still giving this hotel an excellent review because I dont want to spoil it over one bad encounter.. The rest of the staff I encountered throughout my stay was excellent.

Pros: The hotel staff were very friendly and responsive. We were upgraded to a nice room. The breakfast was fantastic, probably the best we had had in a long time. The location is perfect for any visitor and Amsterdam is one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Also to note, people in Amsterdam (including all the hotel staff) were extremely friendly and ready to help. Loved it!

Pros: The location is great, opposite Centraal Railway station and you avoid the added cost and hassle of catching a cab to your hotel. Most tourist spots are within walking distance. Staff was great, they let us check in early and check out late which helped us a great deal.

Pros: I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Daniel helped my friends and I not only with our luggage, but with advice on getting around the city, recommendations for restaurants, and sightseeing. Overall great experience, and upon my return to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here and hope to get assistance from Daniel!

Pros: Other than the location, this place really was just so-so. Most Marriott Courtyards are cleaner, more comfortable, and have much better service. For the price, however, it wasn't a bad deal and proximity to both Amsterdam Centraal and many tourist attractions made up for the lack of aesthetic appeal and customer service.
Cons: Breakfast was not included and would be an addition $30/person. At that price, it should include a packed bong and tickets to the Van Gogh museum. Rooms were terribly outdated and not in a quaint Dutch way, but in an oddly 80's post-apocalyptic manner that made me question why I wasn't staying at a hostel. Our shower didn't even have a door or a curtain. 5 stars!? Are you kidding me? Europe must max out on a 10 star scale.

Cons: Unfortunately the hotel is next door to a city music facility and there were extremely loud pounding rave concerts from 9 pm until 6 am the next day. Despite being 15 floors above, the super loud base beat still penetrated the room until 6 am. Nothing the hotel could do but would advise avoiding Friday and Saturday nights if possible. Very close to a tram station for transportation to Centraal Station. Buy the 24 or 36 hour tram pass and once you learn the routes hop on and off at your pleasure.

Pros: This hotel is very close to everything. Conveniently located near Centraal station- the tourist and transport hub. Segway, bike shop and bike parking at hotel is a plus. Hotel itself is very modern- spacious, and boutique-like with friendly multi-lingual staff. Fitness and spa center are superb compared to 4 or 5 star hotels we've stayed in this summer elsewhere in Europe. Excellent restaurant menu. Main asset: the staff.
Cons: Internet service was intermittent during the week (hotel gave us credit back though). Cruise ship blares horn in the morning. Restaurant service could use some help.

Having to keep riding the ferry was a bit much but if you factor that into your commute you should be good. Currently there is a ton of construction on all sides which hindered me finding it the first time but once I found the bridge I was good.

Pros: This was my first trip there, and I loved the Generator almost the most. It had a great atmosphere, and everyone I encountered there was very nice. The cafe is fantastic, and a great place to hang out if you have work to do.
Cons: The rooms WERE a bit small, but for the average traveler/backpacker they are totally sufficient. I happened to have quite a bit of luggage with me (it's what happens when I'm traveling for business), and I felt like a total inconvenience to my roommates (even though they swore I was fine). My ONLY complaint with the experience at Generator is that the shower drain was quite clogged, and the shower stall would be filled with water by the second minute.

Pros: The building itself was lovely, very gothic with a cozy feel. The breakfast was excellent, make sure you get it included in your original price. The spa was nice and the staff was extremely helpful. We rented bikes from the hotel for a day and they were very good rides, better than our bikes at home! The mini bar is stocked daily and is FREE! We kept drinking our mini wines in the double bath tub every night. Great location, across the canal from central station. A great choice for our honeymoon stay.
Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

Pros: The building is an antique that seems to recently been rejuvenated. It's important to keep this in mind when coming here, because the place is not a modern hotel, and so some modern things may be missing. For example, the elevators could be quite awkward and I cannot imagine how the floors are handicap accessible. That said, the bathrooms were brand new and quite nice. And finally, they throw in a full, FREE mini-bar.

We couldn't open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Pros: Great location. Quiet area with easy access to the center of the city. I would definitely stay here again. Very cool Hotel-Boat...Botel :)
Cons: The last ferry from Central Station leaves at 23:45 and the first one leaves to Central Station at 07:00. But there was a free shuttle 5-7 min to/from the 24 hour shuttle. Had 2 single beds that could not be moved together.

Pros: The boat is in a really cool wharf area. There's some really cool bars and restaurant just outisde. If you don't plan to stay inside, the boat is ideal for travelers on a budget.
Cons: Pretty straight forward, you're staying on an old cruise boat. Nothing fancy but a room and a shower.

Pros: Shuttle service from the ferry after midnight.
Cons: The internet was so slow, I couldn't post videos (they always timed out) and single pictures could take 15-30 minutes.

Pros: The ferry will drop you off very near Amstel Botel, so if you walked all around the city, it will not be tiring to get to your hotel.
Cons: The room was very basic and smelled like urine. It was not a pleasant stay at all. The front desk is not much help either.
Located in Amsterdam City Centre, this hotel is within a 5-minute walk of Rembrandt Square and Flower Market. Amsterdam Museum and Amsterdam Dungeon are also within 10 minutes. Rembrandtplein Stop is only a 2-minute walk and Keizersgracht Stop (4) is 5 minutes.

Pros: I really liked my bedroom and the view ti the "Rembrandt Square" It has an antique romantic vibe and the stuff is really nice. bed was comfortable. unfortunately did not try the 10 euro breakfast that was until 10 or 11 AM i think.
Cons: There is no easy way to get your luggage to the room, you have to carry it up the stairs and if you are at the last floor, its 4X15~ stairs. This may be a small issue for women with big suitcases.
