Cons:

American Company would not rent to American with his official temporary drivers license from State of Texas because my real one was taken in Miami. Even though I’m also a Hertz Gold Member and most car companies store digital versions of drivers license in their systems! I even had digital copy!

This was a great experience! Great, clean car with all the room and amenities (usb plug and more) we needed. We were comfortable. The car made our vacation go so much smoother.

Cons:

The rental counter is a bit far from the airport, so be prepared to spend a bit more time on pickup then with other companies. Otherwise, good experience.

Cons:

My flights were delayed so they gave my booked car away. They had no other car options either. Even though I entered all my contact information in while booking the car they said they had received no contact information through kayak. Very disappointing experience.

Pros:

Very new and clean car. Smooth administration. Just perfect.

Cons:

At the drop-off we had to give the keys to a guy in the car park with a little thrifty sticker on his shirt. We did not get any confirmation that we gave the car back nor that is was still in perfect conditions. It felt a bit weird afterward that we had nothing in your hands to proof that we brought the car back without any damage.

Get at least windscreen cover otherwise they’ll take $1000 and send maybe refund the excess of cost. Be careful they don’t have windscreen cover on the cars apparently like most people have their own insurance which includes a windscreen a year so let’s see.

The price given to me online was not the price I was charged for and when I called the 800 number, the customer service office was closed. I feel I was charged more money because I was in a rush to catch my flight- Poor business practice by Budget. When I picked up the car, the service representatives had me sign that the car was not damaged before even receiving the keys. I asked if there was damage, could I come back and fill out the form to reflect that, and they said "yes"... but the second I received my keys they shut the gates and left for the day. I asked why the price on the document they gave me was different than what I received online and they told me I'd only be charged the additional amount if I returned the car with less than a full tank of gas. The car was returned full and I was still charged more money than quoted online.

When other rental car companies quoted me it was an all inclusive cost, it wasn't clearly noted that the car was a manual and the price didn't include insurance. So when I actually picked up the car they gouged me on both of those and the quotes price was more than doubled. I had somewhere to be and didn't have much of a choice. Feel like they knew that and really took advantage with the price.

Budget NZ have overcharged my Credit Card by $300 and not even sent an invoice to justify their charges. What a joke - supposed to be a premium provider...they didnt give me the car paid for (it was a crappy hybrid) and the car stank like a previous renter had spilled Dum Sum in the boot! Dissapointing Budget total rip off and fraudulent charges without substantiation!

Auckland store looked fairly run down, boxes and stuff everywhere. Not as professional looking as competitors. The car received was quite an old Toyota without basic modern amenities such as Bluetooth connectivity. Staff were friendly

Good value for money but not enough staff. There were quite a few people waiting to collect cars or be shuttled back to the airport and only one staff member attending everybody. If you allow enough time there shouldn't be a problem

Initially, I was concerned based on some of the negative comments but decided to proceed as the positive comments from other travellers rated their experience as great and I booked online. Closer to our departure date, Yesaway confirmed via email the vehicle booking with instructions upon landing. The rental base was at Mangere, about a 5-10min drive from Auckland international airport. Our vehicle model (RAV 4 Automatic) was not brand new (I already knew this from other travellers comments) but the vehicle interior was very clean, it was spacious, it worked perfectly and got us from point A to point B without any issues for our 5 passengers. Yesaway had marked on the paperwork all the little scratches, marks and little nicks on the outside of the vehicle prior to our picking up the vehicle (which saved us time from doing it) and we did a cursory look over. We did not experience any problems with the paperwork on pickup or drop off. We filled up the vehicle before dropping it off; and we were taken to the airport by shuttle. The service by the Yesaway consultants on pickup and dropoff was courteous. I recommend using Yesaway, Auckland Airport and will do so on our next visit.

staffs needs more training, they gave me wrong information caused me waisted 1.5 hours and extra Uber ride between 2 drop off locations.

Cons:

The online disclosure were not clare. I booked one way trip from Auckland to Christchurch for total 7 days. The disclosure shows I can take the rental car from north island to south island by ferry. However, I was told I can not take the car on ferry when I got to counter picking up the car...

The AVIS agent at the Auckland airport was not friendly. She had a very harsh tone, was annoyed to be communicating with a customer, and was very peeved that we did not arrive at the exact hour our reservation was set for (no matter that we were just arriving from an international flight). The car itself was great. The customer service, not so much.

After much searching we found the car we had been looking for - an 8-seater to carry six of us and our baggage. We were extremely happy with the Hyundai Imax that was provided for us which was in top running condition. It also met our requirement of pickup at Auckland and drop off at Christchurch with a trans-shipment over the ferry at Wellington. The rates were the most competitive and the vehicle was a new one, having done just over 30,000 kms. It had a fuel efficiency of approx 10 km to a litre. Even the last row seat was comfortable and the vehicle had a good ride comfort. The boot was spacious and adequate for six suitcases and an equal number of handbags. One small issue nagged us though once in a while - the left side rear door would at times not open from the inside even though the child-lock was not in the on position. Overall, a very happy and comfortable experience.

Excellent once you got there but they only have one shuttle bus that operates on a loop and if you just miss it you have a 45 minute wait. Friendly staff, quick pick up and drop process, car was about three years old but perfect for our needs.

Avoid at all costs. Gave us a car with windshields wipers that were broken. We contacted branch manager Rachel and was promised a phone call twice. Rachel received the message but decided customer safety was not her concern and did not return my call or email for the past 3 business days and counting. You would think that a car that is not road-safe during rainy season would be a priority to her but it is not. We also waited an hour for our car rental. Pickup was for noon and we didn't leave until past 1. I was the first from my group to arrive and yet one of the last to get my car. They told me it would be a 10 minute wait but it was much longer than that. Car provided was in poor condition and unsafe to drive. Their response to poor reviews is always the same. They ask you to email them but then don't actually resolve the issue.

At pick up I was told the windscreen had chips in the bottoms corner. I commented that I did not expect to be held accountable for any further propagation of the chips. On our final drive back to wellington the chip turned into a crack. We notified the team on arrival back to Wellington what had happened. We are now being charged for the damage which was clearly not our fault and indication that we had not been given a roadworthy vehicle. I will be disputing the charges for the damage and am extremely disappointed that I will be wasting time and effort doing this. Very unhappy customer.

Good Value . These are not brand new cars and have cosmetic flaws. But, as such, they provide excellent value. We rented a Prius which saved us a great deal on gas, but had scratches and a dent in the back bumper which didn't matter at all to us.

Fortunately a local lady saw us wandering around and asked why, called Auto Union for us, and walked us to where we needed to be!
