Baltimore hotels near Jewish Museum of Maryland

Cons: To preface this review, I stayed at the Wyndham for a total of 6 nights. The WIFI worked about half the time, which was detrimental because I was in Baltimore to take intensive courses at JHU and couldn't do my homework in the room. The staff blamed it on the windy weather, but it was such a huge inconvenience. My keycard also failed to work more than half the time, which was another annoyance. The front desk also overcharged me for "incidentals," a total of $115. They charge $50/day up to 2 days, which should only have come up to $100, so where did that extra $15 come from? They were pleasant enough about it, and corrected it accordingly, but I warn future guests to double check their transactions. Also, the fridge in the room wouldn't get cold even though it was plugged in, and the microwave emitted a scary burning smell when used. Finally, I stopped by IN PERSON the day before my check-in to request an extension of my check-out time from 11am to 2pm, and they happily obliged. Then, the night before my check-out date, I called down to the front desk to confirm and they claimed that they were overbooked and can only extend my check-out time to 12pm. When I let them know I made the request prior to check-in, no one seemed to know what I was talking about. They were kind enough to offer to store my luggage, but again, an inconvenience. Overall, my stay was mediocre due to the faulty amenities, but the staff was gracious and polite about everything. Still, I don't think I would stay here again.

Cons: The reception was rude, we wanted to get food in the middle of the night but there was no one in the building working to suggest any thing to us.

Cons: Parking can be an issue; they have valet service (for between $20-$35) that I recommend to anyone not familiar with the neighborhood (we had lived around the corner years before, so knew how to find good parking sports). Additionally, we were staying during an extremely cold (below average temperatures) weekend, and found everything to be a little chilly. On top, we found that the bed was made with only three small pillows and a thin blanket (fine for one person, but there were two of us). When we asked for an extra blanket and pillows later that night, the front desk sadly informed us that they had run out due to a high demand of requests. While they were very sorry, it does seem strange that they had dressed the bed in so few pillows and blankets to begin with, though I understand the need to go for a more minimalist approach in order to conserve energy, etc (and do respect that).

Cons: When the desk clerk could not locate information on my reservation, she told me to have a seat nearby while she looked for my reservation elsewhere. When she still couldn't find it, she shouted to me across the lobby that her GM said she can't let me into a room until she got the payment details from Kayak and that I had to call Kayak to resolve the issue. I guess asking me to step up to the desk to discuss my situation or calling Kayak herself was too much trouble. While I called Kayak customer service to attempt to resolve the issue, other guests arrived to check in. As a result, the only clerk working the front desk was busy and could not speak with the Kayak representative I had on my cell phone and they had to call the clerk at the hotel a while later to attempt to resolve the issue. While I sat at the lobby waiting for Kayak to call the desk clerk, a hotel valet came to the front desk and used the phone there to loudly order food for himself and the desk clerk from a local restaurant. And then he proceeded to argue with the restaurant about it giving a discount to hotel employees. Not only was this inappropriate business to conduct at the front desk, but I'm left wondering why the front desk clerk has time to tell the valet what she wants to eat, but she can't call Kayak to attempt to resolve the issue with my room. Once the desk clerk spoke with someone from Kayak, she again shouted to me across the lobby about the status of the issue. She said they needed to fax her the information again. After waiting another 5-10 minutes, I approached the desk and asked if she had received the information she needed yet. She said no and walked away from me to FINALLY check the fax machine. Lo and behold, the information she needed was there and she checked me into my room with barely a perfunctory apology for the delay. She also made sure to tell me the issue was that the Kayak third party service provider handling my reservation had the wrong fax number for the hotel so the issue was really someone else's fault. I guess this hotel is nice enough for the price if you don't have any issues with which you need any customer service. But if there is the slightest issue, or you just stick around the lobby for a little while, you'll see that the staff really doesn't seem to have much training on professionalism. I was pretty disappointed by the experience.

Cons: Horrible customer service! Tons of attitude and talking back. I stayed there for 5 nights, and my room wasn't cleaned at all 2 days out of those. The front desk lady told me in the end of the day that it wasn't her job to clean, that all the cleaning stuff was out for the day, and that there was no manager I could talk to on premises. She told me to just suck it up and wait till the next day (I am not exaggerating !). When I asked her if cleaning services were supposed to be included in my daily room charges, she said yes. Then there was the ongoing issue with them not replenishing toiletries at all even so that was also included in the daily room charges. All and all, this could of been a great hotel if all the front desk staff was replaced or retrained

Cons: Bedding was great whne we arrived, but we did find leftover food in the fridge from the previous guests which made us a little wary of using the tub because we weren't sure how thorough the cleaning was

Cons: The bed was way too hard for my personal preference and comfort. Shower could have used a little updating, but the pressure and temperature were perfect.

Cons: Hotel is old and well-worn - in desperate need of a rehab. Despite the Joie de Vivre name, the desk clerk on our arrival was decidedly not happy. We booked a two-bed room and got a king with a too-short foldaway cot, and on one of the coldest days of the year they did not have any spare blankets, so we were given three sheets instead. For $80 a night it would have been ok - for twice that, it was a ripoff.

Cons: There was street construction all night, starting at midnight until the next morning when. We checked out. We called for earplugs but the hotel didn’t offer. We barely slept and when I spoke to the manager he had nothing to offer further than an apology for our disturbance. The restaurant has a good view. The food was just ok.

Cons: prices in bars could have been better

Cons: Had to pay for internet. No bottled water in room. Dangerously slippery shower. For $300+ per night these should not be issues.

Cons: Our room desperately needs new mattresses. 11018 as soon as you walked in you could tell because of the lumps. Everything else was wonderful.

Cons: After paying over 300 hundred a night, they ofer you a view upgrade for an extra 40 a night, which is fine is a beautiful view of the harbor, but you have to pay an extra 30 dollars a day to park your car. And when I ask the offer me the internet for free but since the person that checked me in was not there they tried to backed out of it saying that there was no way they could give it to me for free because it was 15 more a day. The people at front desk were very, very rude. Except when you are checking in and they are trying to sell you something.

Cons: We returned home from dinner one night to find a card that had been slipped under our door, soliciting clients for an escort service. I also selected online not to have room cleaning for the first day but house keeping still showed up and woke us up.

Cons: This time -- if seemed a little off. I got to my room and there was an overwhelming chemical smell. I didn't know if the room was just renovated (it was very nice, but it didn't seem that way) or they were trying to cover something up. Maybe I should have requested another room, but I was beat, so I did not. Secondly, in what must be an attempt to be "cutting edge", they give each bed three very small pillows. Really, they were the size of throw pillows that you put on your couch. I don't know if their research tells them that people's heads are getting smaller or something, but I just could not get comfortable. When I first saw the room, I thought they forgot sleeping pillows on both beds. Then I looked in the closet for the normal sized ones -- no luck. As sleeping is the #1 reason people stay in hotels, this is kind of a bummer. Very hard for me to get to sleep each night. Third, at breakfast in the morning they have a very nice buffet. it is expensive (about $22-23 + tip), but that is the going rate at nice hotels. But one of the mornings I stayed there, even though it wasn't terribly busy, they were very undermanned at the restaurant. I pretty much had to "steal" coffee and cream etc from other tables, as I could not get service (after waiting 15 minutes to be seated). I'm glad it was a buffet, or I'd still be waiting for that breakfast. I left a good tip of course, as that is a management problem and not the employees' fault. Maybe I'm being hard on the hotel, but it is expensive to stay there, and I know they can do much better, as they have done so many times in the past.

Cons: Some of the furniture was pretty old but I really don't need anything fancy to put my clothes into.

Cons: After I made the reservation, I was informed the pool and hot tub were closed for the week for repair. It was the main reason I chose this hotel. In fairness the hotel did take my 56 dollar parking fee off and the manager did email me offering to upgrade my room my next visit. Problem is, I'll never go to Baltimore again, city is run down and can't walk 10 feet without getting bombarded by a homeless person asking for money.

Cons: The carpet in the rooms need updating although there were 2 double beds there was plenty of room for Queen beds.

Cons: The toilet was either running or not flushing for the entirety of our stay. Had maintenance come up 4 times within 2 days. Asked for a later checkout time for our troubles the 4th time I called. They gave us an extra hour. It was running again when we left.

Cons: Parking a little pricey but that's the way it is anywhere downtown Baltimore. Valet feature is worth it.

Cons: Some repairs needed, esp. in bathrooms and pool area. Pool closed at 10 PM. A fridge was in the room but no minibar/snacks. The smoke alarm flashed all night (brightly).

Cons: When we arrived there was no valet parking available. The hotel parking lot said full but we pulled in anyway & found plenty of spots. ( we think they put full sign up to discourage people going to baseball game from parking in lot ) Parking too expensive : $30 per day

Cons: Not having a trash can by the little kitchen area, but I am a neat freak,

Cons: Our room backed up to elevator, could hear that all night.

Cons: Just that we were in a room near the elevator which isn't ideal when you are trying to put little ones to bed early, but that is an easy fix of just requesting a room away from there.

Cons: Unfortunately there was road construction outside the hotel and only being on the fifth floor, it was easy to hear.

Cons: I called the hotel to make the reservation because we needed a walk-in shower. My husband had knee surgery and would have difficulty stepping over the edge of a tub. We were told this room would have a walk-in tub. It did not. We managed but I was disappointed because we paid more for this room to get that feature. Water in the tub was very hard to regulate...either blistering hot or ice cold. It was very hard to find the spot that made the water "warm". No safe for valuables.

Cons: Not really the hotels fault, but we smelled marijuana every time we got off of the elevator to get to our room. It was very strong and we were supposed to be on a 100% non smoking floor.

Cons: We got in late and the room I reserved wasn't available. We had to get a double, and then the staff wasn't sure if the crib for our baby would fit. Never would have been a problem if the original room was available. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely terrible. Everything was cold or half cooked. Staff was arguing in the dining room about who was getting how much of a tip, who was working hardest, etc. Customers were waiting and looking around. I can't emphasize how terrible breakfast was, and it was not cheap either.

Cons: The sheets reeked of bleach and the room smelled of carpet deodorizer.

Cons: Cleaning lady was rude, front desk attendees told us latest checkout was 1:00 before being charged. Cleaning lady came by at 12:30 telling us it was past checkout time, when I told her we had til 1:00 at the latest she had an attitude. When we were checking out she was at the front desk complaining about us. If I'm late that's my problem, the cleaning lady should have had better manners. Not servant manners, but more welcoming.

Cons: Thin walls with lots of noise and doors that slammed shut. The coffee was horrible, undrinkable.

Cons: Continental breakfast would be a nice touch! The doors slam shut and it is unnerving when I am trying to unwind.

Cons: I loved just about everything about this hotel with one minor flaw: my floor smelt strongly of weed. Not sure if that was another guest or what but it definitely stuck out to me. Overall, regarding the things the hotel themselves could control, it was fantastic.

Cons: The walls are thin, I could hear everything in the hall & next door. They actually leave a pair of ear plugs on the night table. I stayed on the 6th flr and the hallway lighting wasn’t bright. There is no ice machine & microwave on the 6th flr
