Cons: We were threatened with a 1,000 Euro fee for returning the car two hours late. Each representative we spoke with gave a different story. Then no such fee was charged, again without explanation. Never again!
Pros: In Bordeaux the 1st Lady with whom we discussed the deal seemed to be tricky and manipulative but the 2nd one who gave us the key and guided through a concrete car leease related details was excellent and very very helpful.
In Bordeaux we received amazing service: quick, efficient and very courtous.
Cons: When taking the car in Barcelona and discussing what is available things were not very clear in the beginning and seemed to be a bit tricky and overwhelming.
Very helpful Staff in both Bordeaux and Barcelona
Pros: I made a mistake in the date of pick up and had to rent for one day prior to my official pick up time and the staff did everything possible to help make the impact of that as minimal as possible and retain the integretily of my American reservation rate saving me what could have been a thousand dollars in added costs.

Cons: Due to flight and baggage delays, y the time we reached rental counter our car was gone. Agent found us a car but would not honor original price. Ended up spending almost double - $1,200 vs $600. Can Kayak help here, I've already sent my ckmpkaint directly to Budget and am awaiting their response.

Long check in and car not ready
Pros: Long queue at Bordeaux airport with a time consuming check in process. Even then the car was not available despite reserved time so had to wait. However they did finally give another car which was a grade up.

Hertz Bordeaux airport
Pros: Courteous employees at the desk and in the l to (they missed damage on the vehicle and corrected that and apologized)
Cons: Kayak stated $15/day for GPS, but Hertz charged Euro 30 (= $36); never received a receipt from Hertz
Cons: Car not clean outside ...and goof be better inside
The queue at the desk very long. Not very friendly when receiving the car at the parking.

Nice car
Pros: I drived a very nice New car.
Cons: In the contact I didn't know right a way wich rental company I need to go at the airport.
Pros: Very good value for money. Comfortable car.
Cons: You are pushed to pay for all possible extras during the check-in (fuel, extra insurance, ...)
Cons: the surprise that I need to pay 85€ for the car insurance vs. a rental price of 25€ when I already booked online an insurance...
It's a scam
Cons: First, The ACE counter was nearly impossible to find. Then, after dealing with the usual formalities in car rental we were advised of their absurd policy of charging 1,500 euro (a charge, not pre auth) which there was a high liklyhood of not being returned if the car came back with anything (literally a small mark too) suspect. They push you to buy their insurance for 30 euro/day to avoid that.
I wish all of this could be made clear when renting so as not to waste time after a long trip. All in all, go with someone you know. We made a new reservation with enterprise and it was easy, like you would expect.
Pros: None.
Cons: There were no ACE sign in the airport we had to figure out where it was. The person who was working at the counter didn't know she was also working for ACE. We spent 20 minutes to find the booth and they didn't answer our phone calls. When we find the counter, the man 20 confusing minutes insurance options and it was confusing.
Originally we had to pay 30 euros but we paid 150 euros. They took 120 euros deposit for gas. If you don't want insurance they also took 1400 euros for a whole month, and tell you if there is a even little bit scratch on the car they say you will have to pay for it. That was the most irritating experience ever.
After I drop the car, I got an email that says "you have been involved in a car accident" which I did not. And when I went to counter, the lady who was working for the company said it is fine, it is just a systematical problem.
Overall experience from start to finish is THE WORST. I will never ever use this company. And don't be fooled by the cheap prices you will pay tons of extras...

Though the company claimed they gave full refunds if cancelled prior to the reservation date when I tried to cancel the reservation online the website would not allow me to do so. I contacted their customer service and was told I could only do that 20 days before my reservation date I said this was unacceptable as that is not stated in the contract. He said he would put it through yet I recieved an email in early April asking me did I still want to cancel and if yes I would get my refund. This was at least 1 month after my cancellation. Then on the 2nd of April I received this email

Awful: was denied access to a car. Had to find an alt transportation
Pros: The pleasant counter agent who was apologetic and nice
Cons: Inability of europcar to get its act together. Left me on the street with no transportation at 11pm as other rental agencies were closed or closing.
