We’ve booked an SUV WV Tuareg, as we were 5 people. Upon arrival we were given a Capra which was pretty small and was not comfortable at all for the passengers on the back. On arrival, we were charged 2x one way charges as we were to return the car in a different city (this was not mentioned when we were making the reservation). After we picked up the car, we received an email that the return office wasn’t working Sundays (the day we were supposed to return the car) and we were to pay additional £60 for an out of hours return. This was not mentioned neither during the reservation process, nor during pickup by the person at the Europcar desk. Overall we paid a lot of money, most of all surcharges, for a very uncomfortable drive.Reviewed 2023 Dec 07

Lack of transparencyCons:I was extremely frustrated to find I *had* to purchase additional theft insurance, even though I have full coverage through my credit card. This added significantly to the daily cost of the rental in ways I had not planned on. It would be one thing if this had been communicated transparently at the point of booking, but to find this out at the point of pick up was extremely frustrating. After long wait at counter, company would not honor arranged priceCons:Company required purchase of insurance which would more than double rental price. Declined to rent and rented instead from National at adjacent counter with no problems and lower price. Will not rent from Europcar again.
