The car was filthy when collected. Not enough hire agents at the desk so the cue was huge. The agent spoke in a European foreign accent and his English was very poor. Tried to talk me through insurances and answer my questions but struggled to understand each other, so I gave up asking. Drop off took too long. Nearly missed my check in.Reviewed 2025 Sept 08

The pick up was really a bad experience we had to wait for an hour and a half because the system at Europcar in Rome airport was not functioning properly and although I went and complained to the staff that I see people came after me and they got seen and me no, they investigated and said basically system isn’t functioning properly today but still served 3 customers before me after admitting it is the system fault, and I also had two young children who just landed from a 6am departure flight! I found this very inappropriate as if it’s system fault and you could see I was there for more than an hour I should be the priority. The car we have been given was a Peugeot not the jeep I booked and I did say I want a jeep but they said all out but when we went to the car park I found many jeeps parked brand new ones, the Peugeot we got is old and the battery was bad not keeping any charge I was stopping every 50 miles to charge the car!! I asked for a newer at the pick up because I knew electric cars has to have a great performing battery if I am doing long drives, this is isn’t my first time hiring an electric car from Europcar, last year got one in Barcelona and the experience was amazing. I won’t recommend the Roma airport desk and would not recommend Europcar in Italy tooReviewed 2025 Sept 06

I reserved my car for 30 days from 10 am on day 1 to 10 am on day 30. When I went to the counter to pick up my car in Amsterdam at 11:20 am the counter agent asked “why are you late?” I told him I had reserved the car for 30 days and already paid for it, so I wasn’t “late.” He claimed that my car had now been rented to someone else, and I would have to pay about $200 more to get a different car. I argued with him that this wasn’t right and found it hard to believe that they had already rented “my car.” I asked to speak to his supervisor. He pointed to the clerk next to him. I told him I wasn’t going to pay the additional cost. We continued to argue. His other coworkers (3 of them) just watched the whole discussion. I think they were seeing if he’d be successful in “upcharging” me. The clerk finally relented and gave me my car. When I went inside to pick up the car there were dozens of cars sitting there. The clerk was very rude and unfriendly. I believe this clerk was dishonest and lied to me. He should be fired. I have no doubt they treat other customers like this and bully them into paying additional fees by being rude, unfriendly, and lying.Reviewed 2025 Sept 02

Flight was delayed two hours and was told car no longer available when we arrived. Upgraded car only offered at almost twice the cost. Car stank of stale cigarettes despite a no smoking policy. Not pleasant to drive and left clothes smelling. After hours drop off location was not correct. Frustrating. I ordered an midsized, they gave me an SUV and charged me an upgrade without telling me. The line was a mess to get the car and once I discovered their charge and disputed it the line took forever to resolve, almost missed my flight. Never again!Reviewed 2025 Aug 19

The pickup process was terrible. The customer service representative confused the person in front of me with my reservation. This caused the process of getting my vehicle to take over an hour. Additionally, I just received two additional invoices for the vehicle. One of them is correct but the other one is for the other customer and has a charge for 3 GPS units. Not only did I not use 3 units, the name and car are not mine or what I rented. I am working to resolve this issue but based on the current performance, I am not expected great service.Reviewed 2025 Aug 18
