Amazing things: when I discovered I could not get to my destination without 4wd (freak snow storm), I called and was told that I could switch out my current rental for a suitable vehicle at no charge. The attendants at all 3 locations I visited throughout my trip were extremely kind and helpful. Somewhat less amazing- I could not get anyone in a local office on the phone. Luckily the CS team at the call center we’re right in their information about switching out but at the time my only option was to backtrack 2 hours to the closest open location and I was worried that I would get all the way there and no inventory would be available. Not being able to contact the individual Budget locations and actually being disconnected several times trying to get through their automated system was frustrating in a stressful situation. My first car was also a bit dirty but I wasn’t super worried about that, but it did prevent me from giving 5 stars for cleanliness

Staff was fineCar was unsafe. Bald Tires, bad brakes, collision warning system was broken and would randomly send alarms to the dash. Very distracting and concerning with the combo of bald tires and bad brakes.

The carl type was it did. We ended up enjoying the car.We rented the car for a 24 hour. And we're caught in traffic coming into the Oakland airport delaying our arrival by 30 minutes we were charged an extra day rental for the extra 30 minutes. We contacted customer service and were told a credit would appear on our Original payment form but this has not taken place yet.

Barre of limited hoursWhen I first arrived ther was nobody working behind the counter. there was a sign that said be back in 30 min. When I returned , the sign had changed to the hours of operation sign . They close at 4:00pm. It was 4:12. Didn’t get my rental . Had to spend $200 on an Uber instead

SatisfactoryGood, clean carThe car wasn't immediately ready when I arrived, and I was displeased with the lack of assurance that the vehicle provided would accomodate five passengers as stated online...it's the only reason I opted for the intermediate at the time I placed the order. Also, no CD Player.

Sneaky added charges at dropoffNice car, nice people at the agency.Sneaky added charges of $10-15 not reflected in the initial quote from Kayak. I don't know if this is a Kayak problem or an Avis problem, bit I don't like being given a quote for total charges that then goes up when I drop off the car. Kayak/Avis need to get their sh!t together.

Staff at pick up in redding very friendly and helpful. Car was almost new.Price!! Much too expensive. I found trash in the car.

I thought price was a little bit high. I rent cars frequently and have never had to pay as much. The car wasn’t super comfortable and a bit hard to see out of. It was a Toyota Carrolla. It got great gas mileage and was clean although the smell Of car cleaner was a bit strong to me.

Hard to findThe car was a pleasure to drive, was very clean, and I liked the weekly rate option, as well as unlimited milesThe pickup was difficult to find, because all of the signs lead you to a parking lot with no one in it. The address for the pick-up location led me to an employees-only building. I finally just went into the terminal (which from the outside had no signage for rentals) and found the desk in there. I suggest either putting up hanging signs or making things more clear. I work across the street from the pick-up area and was confused. Also, there was no phone number on my rental confirmation, so I was desperately searching for a number to call.

Worst experience ever!Terrible terrible service. I reserved a specific vehicle at a specific pickup location and made plans based on that location and timetable. I was contacted 2.5 hours prior to my confirmed pickup time (7:30 am) and left a brief message to call back. Around 8:15 am I contacted the rental office only to be told the car that I had reserved 24 hours earlier was not available and there was nothing they could do for me. I insisted that they figure it out for me and after some persistence on my part the person who had left the message and been my only contact said he would transfer the reservation to a not so near by airport location. I was not happy about it, I asked if he could have the vehicle transferred to his location since I picked that location based on travel time and picked lodging due to proximity to that location. The associate rather unhelpfully declared that was the best that could be done, regardless of any confirmation #. I arrive at the airport pickup location only to be turned away almost instantly. 1. You MUST have a ROUND trip ticket to present at airport pickup locations in order to pickup a rental ( Even if you fly one way, each way, which is cheaper! A one way ticket isn't enough) Why was I not made aware of this by the associate at the time of the transfer??? 2. You NOW ( as of Jan 1st I was told) must have a valid major credit card in order to rent at certain AIRPORT rental locations! Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but my replacement did not reach me before I left home. I had used a debit card before and knew a credit card was always preferred but was confident it was a non issue due to experience. How wrong I was!!! Sure at the non-airport originally chosen location a debit card would have been just fine. That part was clearly explained to me by the lady at the counter at the airport location, she empathized but said she could do nothing. I asked for the manager and the eyes of the gentleman one register down lifted in my direction, he reiterated shaking his head and stating there was nothing that could be done, while tossing me a piece of paper with non- airport pickup locations and a customer service number to contact. If only everything in life was that easy, just shrug and throw your hands up. It's not their problem was the consensus, it was mine. Company values, customer service quality , and "guarantees" don't mean what they once did. I would like an explanation, however I won't get my hopes up, it's already been made clear that no one cares.Terrible terrible service.
