Car rental at Stornoway Airport

The airport is small. Only Car Hire Hebrides has an office in the arrivals terminal. Follow the signs for a short walk to their office. All the other service providers offer a Meet and Greet service, and they will either meet you at the arrivals terminal or in the car park. Be sure to give Meet and Greet services your flight details.

Due to the island's size, and its relative isolation there are fewer service providers. This means you have less variety to choose from, but also that car hire is more competitive. You are likely to find a good deal if you book well in advance using KAYAK's convenient comparison and booking tool.

If you are travelling with children, don't worry about extra luggage. You can hire booster seats, toddler seats or infant chairs from the car hire company at a low extra charge. Automatic cars are available, but we recommend booking those in advance. Some companies also provide wireless hotspots or GPS navigation systems, so you are certain you won't get lost.

Stornoway Airport has shorter operating hours due to local traffic volume and requirements. The average operating hours are 07:00 to 19:45 during weekdays, 07:00 to 15:15 on Saturdays and 12:45 to 17:15 on Sundays. Car hire companies will be available during these hours for pick-ups and drop-offs. An out-of-hours service is available by prior arrangement.
