Beware hidden fees!I could drop off the car in the city, rather than back at the airport. There were a ton of extra fees, even though I was insured by my credit card, that ended up making the total cost FOUR TIMES what was advertised! This included an extra national insurance fee ($300 for 4 weeks) that was apparently mandatory. Also, as an Israeli citizen, I had to pay an additional $90 fee/tax because of that. I cut my rental by 2 weeks because I couldn't afford all the extra costs. Also, Budget only reported 1 scratch when there was a dent and about 10 scratches around the car. There was no one at pickup to confirm, so I had to take photos to prove during drop-off that I didn't cause the dent or other scratches. This ended up being fine, but it was annoying that I even had to take photos myself and that Budget didn't do this in advance. The car was ridiculously weak on the uphills (with 4 passengers), but I guess that's to be expected with the most compact. Also, at one point the A/C gave out (i.e., no cold air) for an hour during a drive. It kicked in again after stopping for a while.

Drop Off at Ben Gurion Airport SmoothEasy to drop the vehicle off and get a shuttle to the proper terminal.Despite a sign indicating there was a gas station near the drop-off point, I could not find it and was charged a penalty fee for not "topping off" the tank

-Car was clean and drop off was excellent.Nobody told or there wasnt text that I need to get and pay so much more of insurance. I would never taked that car from you if I were known that. So this was my last reservation from you.

The car was a wreck! The car ran as expected. It got us where we needed to go and the air-conditioner worked. From the moment we picked up this car at Shlomo SixT's branch at the Sde Dov airfield, we knew that this Nissan Almeira looked terrible. There were little chip marks and loose body parts all around the car. And there we a big cross on top, left by some long ago tape. But we were in a hurry, so we took the car. Then, we started noticing some other peculiarities and weaknesses. The radio knobs were missing, so we couldn't manage to use the radio. There was only one key slot, on the driver's door, none on the passenger side. And, to compound that problem there was no automatic door opening mechanism. So, the driver had to get into the car, reach over and manually unlock the passenger door, and the others, terribly inconvenient. We were not given any remote door opener. There was only one "low" gear. One drove either in "Drive" or in "Low." Usually, of course, there is a choice of at least two or three gears lower than Drive. This car really should not be rented in this condition. Or only by a company called "Rent-a-Wreck."

Car was cleaned, functioned well. Check in and drop off were fine. One SIGNIFICANT thing - I was quoted one price, then charged significantly more due to a "required" insurance that was not provided by my credit card. I would have been fine with this if so quoted up front, but it was not. Sneaky business - bait and switch.

Watch for hidden extrasThe car was fine. All the added insurances that we’re ‘mandatory’ and triple the price of the rental. Would have appreciated knowing this ahead of time.

The car functioned OkThere were 10 marked places of scratches When we came to the car we found many more that we could be charged for The car was changed to a car without remote and with the same scratches story After 11 hours of flight we had to find all extra scraches Giving back the car was OK We left inside on the from window a magnetic cell holder and were expecting to get a email about it We didn't We work with Budget all over the world and NEVER experience such a poor service

Mislead and overcharged! Not muchOur initial rental was for a standard van. When it was given to us it was the size of a CRV. We had to pay for an upgrade to get something the size of a standard van for our family of 7. In addition there was a mandatory daily insurance added on that was not previously disclosed. It also took us over an hour on the phone to be able to add child car seats to our reservation. The whole experience was frustrating. We feel ripped off and will never use Sixt again.

PRICE LISTED IS NOT WHAT YOU WILL PAYApparently, there's a law in Israel that it is mandatory to buy insurance even though you carry auto insurance from the United States. Of course, there is no way to verify it, but you are stock in the situation. As a result, low fees that are listed are not what you will end up paying. You will pay about 3 times as much on arrival. Very bad experience. The car we reserved was not available. Somehow, I expected it to be that. To be fair they upgraded us to a larger car, but our experience was already spoiled with the news of the insurance requirement at $20 per day which tripled our expected expense.

Extra Charge! It was terrible experince. - First off all, sixt israel office told me that, this is american web page and only amerikan can use it for booking. - Than they charge me 100 $ extra for insurance. They says this is mandatory ! ı told them, car rent even cheaper than this but they says , because there is no insurance. - They informed me that, if i return empty tank of gasoline, they will fill it cheaper than out side. But it was opposite ! they charge me 15 $ for 5 litre gasoline ! I will never use Kayak and sixt from now on!

Lots of hidden feesThe car was new and cleanI've had good experiences when renting from Sixt in two other countries before and thought I knew what to expect. The daily rental rate was roughly US$11/day with roughly US$32/day added for "taxes and fees". That's where it went south: - When I arrived I was told the car I reserved (BMW 2-Series) had to be cleaned and it would take an extra hour or I could take an upgrade (Opel SUV...not an upgrade in my book) for an additional US$10/day. I chose to wait, then they decided to give me the "upgrade" for free. - I was informed of the mandatory insurance (US$22/day for the minimum coverage). I was offered the upgraded insurance for US$55/day, but declined. Then I was informed that they would be putting a US$1400 reserve on my card because I didn't take the insurance upgrade. - I was only allotted 200km/day and when I returned it after driving it an extra 178km, I was charged and an extra US$47 (roughly US$0.26/km) It all added up to about US$112 for a one day rental with a starting price of US$11 and an overwhelming sense that I had been scammed by a company doing business in more than 100 countries worldwide. Very unhappy customer.

Car rentalThe car have a good motor. From the very beginning they made us wait too long, they gave us an old car not just with scratches in the door or all over the side front and back of the car but the roof itself was lots of scratches, missing parts in the interior of the car, The horn was not working which made it really dangerous for us to drive because in Israel the people use the horn a lot. Lots of the places that we've been visit it was no other branches which made it difficult for us to switch the car. They charge extra $$ for gasoline even the tank was full. Over all we didn't like the service at all.

Expensive car and return takes too much timeWe are renting monthly cars and mostly nowadays in Israel. Have rent from all companies and now two time in 10 days from sixt. Cars are too expensive with full package. You rent for 5 or 6 $ a day bu finally you pay even 40 or more a day. Second when you return your car, it takes too much time. How can it take up to one hour and your customers are busy with their business?

Returning the car at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv is a nightmare. The Hertz return is not in the same location as the return for all the other agencies. The airport signage for Hertz is completely inadequate. Nav apps (Google maps) takes one to the wrong level. We drove around for 100 minutes (!) and literally could not find where to leave the car. This is a big problem when there is an international flight to catch.

Hertz ok but car type not goodEasy pick up and drop off at airport. The customer service person was nice and explained the insurance options. The car was a Cleo. This car's engine stops every time the car comes to a stop at traffic lights and in stop and go traffic, then must re-start to move. This was terrible especially in Israel's hilly terrain . The insurance cost in Israel is outrageous! Credit card insurance policies will not cover rental cars there.

The price that was charged was different from the price that I was quoted. Tried to resolve dispute over the phone - unsuccessfully. In spite of multiple phone call to AVIS Israel issue has not been resolved during 30 days of stay. At checkout, supervisor promised to take care of it. Still waiting..Provide honest and transparent quote online including ALL costs and show the options, especially for insurance, will make the booking process easier and save aggravation later on. Show all the taxes and mandatory costs. Sugar coating the price online … then sticker shock at the counter doesn't work

Proof of competence when things need to be adjustedThe car which was a large Fiat was good except that the front fender was loose when the car was given to me. It got looser as the trip went on and I finally called to get a replacement car. Eldan, the agency that represents Alamo, was very good at replacing the car but their main Jerusalem office was all but closed because of the visit by Vice President Pence. Their representative Sarah at headquarters steered us to a smaller office nearby in Givan Shaul, but they didn't have a lot of cars. We got a large dirty 4 wheel drive Diesel Dacia when we indicated to the manager David that we could drive a manual shift. Adriel, the manager of the downtown branch who was in Givan Shaul because he couldn't get to the office either because of Pence, said that we could return the Dacia to him downtown in two days and get the exact same type of car that we had had before but with an attached fender. We did that and the Eldan team was good to their word. At all times, everyone on the Eldan team, was courteous and resourceful at getting our problems solved. It's not how you react when situations are simple that tests the mettle of an organization, but how you react when there is a problem. The Eldan team was great. I would use them again.Because of all of the confusion, as described in the what went right section at left, I was charged for a fillup of gas. When I got the Dacia in the Givan Shaul office, because of the confusion, I was given the car with a partially filled tank of gas. I returned the car with the same partially filled tank of gas as well. I was charged for the partial fillup. I will have to call Eldan in Israel to get that charge removed. I do feel that they will do this because of the treatment I have received from them to date.

Dacia "automatic"transmission was like riding a bucking broncoThe manager at Ben Gurion airport for Eldan rentals, the presumed local Alamo affiliate, was very nice.I had reserved 2 infant car seats but upon arrival the 2 car seats presented to us were filthy and worse, had no restraining straps. The manager was nice and apologized and offered us an "upgraded" rental, which turned out to be the Dacia. The transmission on the Dacia was the worst on any car that I've driven. It was rough, sluggish, jerked and at times made us feel as if we were in a rodeo riding a bucking bronco. There is no Park setting on this transmission, only Drive, Neutral and Reverse, so that when parking or waiting at a traffic light on an incline, the parking brake must be utilized. I don't know if the Dacia that we received was a lemon, or whether our experience is characteristic.

The Reservation that we received from Kayak / Priceline for Dollar Rent A Car had the wrong car rental location information at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. It took more than 30 minutes to get to the correct location. They moved from one terminal to another and are now sharing with Hertz. Shouldn't I have been notified about this change. Once we found the correct location, it took more than 45 minutes to get the car. Then we found out that the price we signed up for didn't include the required insurance. I was shocked to find out that the cost for the 1 week rental went from $505.28 to $925.47. That's almost double the price. We had no choice as there were no other cars available. This was classic Bait & Switch......Really horrible I won't do this again
