Cons: Check in was a stressful mess, not organized. We thought we would Miss our flight. They don’t even offer water in the plane, ridiculous.
Delayed flight... no updates communicated from crew
Cons: Our flight was delayed 4+ hours due to weather. I understand that the weather is a wildcard, it was the lack of communication from the airline/crew that was disappointing. Boarding time came and went. Flight departure time came and went. It wasn't until 30 minutes after our flight was supposed to depart that we were given an updated departure time... of 4+ hours later. I feel that if a flight is going to leave that late, the airline can provide you with an update sooner and allow you to make other arrangements if necessary. I missed by connecting flight on the other end and was forced to stay in a hotel for an extra night.
Deceiving
Pros: I purchased a “seat relax” once I got in my seta it did not reclained only extra leg room. How come can you relax ina 4 hour trip ina vertical position and paying more for it. In their site does not disclosure that.
Cons: To get my money back
Great airline for on the budget family.
Pros: The crew was amazing and super nice. Seats and overall plane was nice and clean. I’ve used budget airlines before and this is in the top 5 of greats! I would highly recommend this airline!
Cons: The plane was late taking off from airport but it was understandable because of rain conditions. Need better shuttle service for people with small children and strollers. The crew would not let my husband switch a seat over so my family could sit together. That is not right in my eye to not let a family sit together, especially when traveling with a small child. If a family books tickets together, they should sit in the same row.
Awful low cost airline - avoid at all costs
Cons: 1.5 hours late & sitting in the plane waiting to take off. A UPS plane was given priority to take off before this airline - it's the worst of cheap airlines I've ever seen.
Cabin Pressure
Cons: For some reason, on this flight, the cabin pressure was not as good and I received a piercing pain in my sinus and head that I thought was something dangerous. It didn't go away, and I still have a little bit of it. I flew from Los Angeles to Tokyo with no problem, and the plane was a larger one. I fear this plane had less insulation or something that lead to this pain.
missed connection and they did nothing to help
Pros: nothing
Cons: They changed the boarding time from 14:00 to 14:15 at check-in and at the time of departure at 14:45 they changed that to the boarding time. I missed my flight in Tokyo going to the USA had to pay a change fay to another airline I couldn't afford and spend the night at the Airport!!!!! Awful !!! no explanation no offer to reimburse nothing!!!!
Good service for a airline I never flew before
Pros: No complex boarding process
Cons: 20kg baggage limit on checked bags. US carriers max at 50lb and that’s what I packed for. Had to shuffle some items to carryon.
Worst LCC I have tried
Cons: You could really feel the penny pinching. Baggage fees are ridiculous. And I had to wait by thr check-in kiosks for 10 minutes for: "in case something is wrong with the baggage". Slow to check tickets at boarding. Plane was parked in the most remote part of the airport. Long bus ride, and long time to board. Seats are very uncomfortable. Overall, worst experience with a Low Cost Carrier I have had, for no benefit in ticket cost. Avoiding this airline in the future.
Vanilla Air Tokyo to Hong Kong
Pros: Price was good. Crew very nice and pleasant, they worked hard and efficiently, flight was on time.
Cons: Terminal 2: Terminal 2 for budget airlines in Tokyo was a very dismal place, was worn out, dinghy, and old, no seats for passengers, was worse than a third world terminal. Terminal space was cramped and check in lines were cramped together and signs confusing, difficult to make out which line was for which airline or flight, could easily be in the wrong line for wrong flight/airline! There were few stores, only one cafe with limited selection of food and drinks. Passengers had to board planes by walking from boarding gate to plane in the open air and climb up plane staircase like back in ancient days or in quaint backward country. Elevators going down to the boarding gates were poorly marked and confusing and no signs at the gate indicating the flight to be boarded. In addition, the boarding gates are segregated and do not connect and passengers at the wrong gate cannot easily get from one gate to the next! All in all a very unpleasant place and experience. While the airport limousine bus did stop at terminal 2, it was the very last stop and took extra time to get there as terminal 2 seemed to be located in middle of nowhere at Narita. Plane and flight: As expected in a no frills budget airline, food was mediocre, fee was charged for everything. However this was a five hour flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong and seats on plane were packed very very close together, very difficult to get in and out of seat - had to be an acrobat or contortionist to get in and out, Even on a no frills budget airline, such closely packed seats for a long flight is unacceptable. Maybe OK for a one to two hour flight but not acceptable for flight over 3 hours. Have had better experience on other no frills budget airlines. such as Air Asia, Tiger Air. Will definitely avoid Vanilla Air whenever possible.
Affordable and Service Matching the Price Tag
Pros: Better than other low cost carriers.
Cons: I know I get what I pay for. So, no particular complaints.
never fly Vanilla Air
Pros: arriving 30 minutes ahead of schedule even though we had late departure.
Cons: The policy of carry-on luggage is misleading. You're only allowed 10kg or less for combined two items. Charged me 6,000 yen ($53 USD) to bring my carry-on suitcase even though it met the 3 tier requirements so I should have only been charged 4,000 yen. Tacked on an additional 2,000 yen for "security" fee. This is double what the average & premium airlines charge for the 1st piece of carry on luggage as my backpack is always considered free....also the flight crew and pilots were late.
Seating configuration not for anyone over 5'5" tall
Pros: Left on time, arrived early.
Cons: Seats were way to close to one another. I'm 6'2" and my knees were crammed into the seat in front of me the entire flight. Fortunately it was a quick flight from Osaka (KIX) to Tokyo (NRT).
Pros: For the inexpensive price I paid I was generally very impressed by the service
Cons: Limited leg room but on very short flights like mine it was managable
Pros: crews are so nice.
Great flight at low prices
Pros: Doesn't feel like a budget airline
Cons: The terminal we landed at does not have direct train access but not the fault of the airline.
Pros: Clean and tidy.
Cons: Not very comfortable
Pros: Flight was on time and boarding was easy
Cons: Crew wouldn't allow me to use open seats even though no one was using them.
Not bad for short distance trips
Pros: Cheaper than other airlines
Cons: Carryon luggage policy.
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Seat pitch too small and I'm short (163cm) so would be very uncomfortable for person of average height. This was our return flight from Niseko to Tokyo - we missed the flight there by only 5 mins and they showed no compassion whatsoever despite it being the last flight of the day and our delay was due to lost baggage (my 7yo lost her backpack at one of the train stations). We arrived to check in 20 minutes before the plane departed so not impossible to get us on. i was left stranded at the airport with 2 young children at 6pm. No refund either so lost $800 in plane fares and another $800 lost in our accommodation that night at Niseko. Was a very distressing experience - we were all in tears as we had run all the way from tonal 2 to 3 and the staff did not help us in any way.
Not made for tall people.
Pros: General no frills airline. Most aspects were as expected.
Cons: The seat pitch was extremely small... as in the smallest I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't even get my legs to fit behind the seat. I've flown across continents in every conceivable airline from business class to Ryan Air and this was by far the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat in. I'm 6'2 by the way, so I am tall, but c'mon.
