Staff both departing and returning were great. Needed Suv and was given as promisedThe only negative was there were no floor mats or paper sheet covers for the interior floorboard. The place I was going was rural and muddy, so I had to constantly lay down towels or garbage bags to keep the interior floor carpet clean.

Drop off was very easyThe executive Synethia at the counter was extremely rude. I was with my 7 month old son and wife. She was hostile, kept on talking to other people and interrupting me when it was my turn. I would have cancelled the reservation right then if we did not need the car for my son.

Alamo Rental in BirminghamThis is a complicated review, because I have to balance the negative against several positives that occurred. First, I think I got a good deal on line. Second, we had a horrible flight over with several delays and cancellations due to weather. Instead of arriving in the morning, I reached the rental car desk in the BHM garage about 11:30pm. They were gracious and very helpful, and I needed the car to drive another hour south for the holiday. Finally, there was a mix-up in the billing and the information I received from Alamo 800 number. They were accommodating and resolved it to the best of their ability. They were in a tight spot really. I appreciate their cooperativeness. The car was a pleasure to drive.Several negatives occurred with this rental. First, the car was not cleaned thoroughly. A jacket was in the back (I gave that to the desk), and it reeked of cigarette smoke. I mean, it did this for over a week. Like driving in a ash can. But we had no choice: This was the only car they had for me at 11:30pm after a bad day of delayed flights due to weather. I had called earlier in the first day to talk to Alamo and they informed me that a second driver could be added for free, and this was standing policy. The desk thought otherwise and added a $150 charge for my wife. I complained and the desk staff upon return graciously took the charge off, and told me this was not their policy. They were in a bad spot with this conflicting information. I felt bad for them. But then again, I have to check my credit card to see what my charges are at the moment.

The truck smelled like smoke, got to destination the Check engine light came on went to exchange vehicle for another and they tried to downgrade my Yukon to a Ford Explorer needless to say I won’t rent with dollar again.

Car was not well prepped. Smelled like cigarettes. Rear hatch would not open! There are no designated Dollar parking spots in the garage. Difficult to know where to return the car.

Not enough staff working. Waited an hour in line for a rental I had reserved several weeks in advance. Additionally, I was double charge. I am currently working on how to correct this.Better speed on processing customers. Better billing system.

Horrible customer service, just unacceptable. Ended up using Uber from the airport to the hotel, and the next day when I called them, Budget’s response was “oh, the person in charge forgot to leave the key for you. But you can come pick your car up now.” And that was after I called them few days in advance, and then once again on the day of arrival, specially mentioning I am traveling with 2 little kids. “Well, we can void the contact if you don’t need the car anymore.” - that was their response to my statement about Budget’s bad customer service. So that’s what I did - I asked them to cancel. If this is how they run business, I don’t think I want to be part of it.

Picked up a Camry initially, but we knew within a few minutes we would have to return it. Strong tire vibration left us feeling unsafe for our upcoming road trip. Dealt with tired employees and a lot of back & forth before finally finding a good replacement. It took about 2 hours off our journey so we were off to a late start. Replacement car was just fine, but windshield wipers were so loud. Both cars could've been cleaned better. Drop off was okay but felt bad for stressed and overworked employee who handled it.

It was not clear to me that there was an offsite Budget, who I actually rented from, and a onsite at the airport Budget. The man in charge was very helpful to honor what I had and made clear that it would be $5 more per day. Which was fine.

Returning the rental was easyThe cleaning of the car was a joke. This is the third car from budget that I’ve had where the staff just ran it through the car wash while the inside looked messy. Also, the billing is wrong. The bill was more at the end than what was quoted.

Staff was friendly. Vehicle was in good condition.Finding the Budget Rent a Car pick up location (actually inside the public parking structure at Birmingham AL airport) was a hassle. Directions to the booth in the parking garage were poor. Additionally, the return address for vehicle drop off took me to the off-airport office.

Customer Service SketchyOnce I finally located the Budget rental car spot in the parking garage, the gentleman was very helpful, I got a very nice car, and the process was simple.When I arrived at the airport, the Budget rental car desk was unmanned, and there was no signage directing customers to another location. Had to use discovery learning to find the Budget kiosk in the parking garage. I returned the car at 6:20 am and the Budget kiosk wasnt open yet, even though the sign said it would be open at 5 am. When I signed for the rental car, I told them I would be returning it at 6 am. I was told no problem, someone would be there. There wasn't, and because I was expecting a Budget rep to be there, I didn't have a pen to fill out the rental folder with mileage, date or FULL tank. I had to drop the car keys and rental agreement into the box without filling anything out, and HOPE that they charge me correctly. That's not how I prefer to do business.

During our first hours driving, a serious steering problem developed and we headed for the nearest airport Avis agency in Montgomery. The staff there immediately took action to find us a replacement vehicle and we were back on the road within a hour, with an upgraded car. Excellent service!

Need to extend the rental for one more day. Was not able to do it over the phone or on the computer. Had to physically return to the Birmingham Airport, because the phone was constantly busy. Other than that, everything was fine.

Drop off was quick but it looked like both the workers at the booth wanted to be anywhere other then there.It took awhile to pick up the car because the front desk was understaffed. The vehicle smelled heavily of smoke the interior driver and passenger side doors where cut up and the seats were stained and filthy. The front windshield had two big chips in it and there were scratches all over the vehicle. Lastly, someone took the floor mats out of the vehicle and never returned them. I will NEVER RENT FROM AVIS AGAIN and I strongly suggest you don’t either.

Clean. Easy pickup and great service in BHM.Problem with steering. Canceled part of trip. “No replacements anywhere.” Called multiple times. Incredible wait time with service. Spoke with manager at drop off. Also sent email with details. Still charged full price. Will leave bad review on Yelp and Google if not fixed.

Upon our return ... no one was at the booth.. we waited 5 minutes and finally a security guard walked over to advise us to go in side. No one at the counter waited 15 minutes. asked all other counters if they knew where someone was... nothing! then finally she came in, she says nothing, takes our contract and proceeds to say our final bill is 166.dollars and I said "no.. it is 65.81 bill is. and she says "no ma'm you're late and this is what the bill is now be cause you're late" I am not happy and my husband said we can't help no one was at the booth and you certainly were not here for quite a while. I then became upset and said I wanted to see her manager. she then said, well I could have adjusted it but because of your STANK ATTITUDE, I am not. The bill is 166.23. She kept repeating my bill is what it is because of mt STANK ATTITUTDE. She said this 3 times. I recorded her conversation and am going to follow up with Corporate. I will never rent from Thrifty again. Was I upset..., YES don't almost triple my charges and expect me, the consumer to be happy about it when I was 4 minutes late because they were not at the booth! The young man on our pick up was very personable and courteous.

Not a good experirenceThe rate I was quoted onlineThe rate that i was charged when I got to the counter was nearly double what I was given online. The car was not clean. someone water bottle was in the cup holder. Front windows were greasy like they haven't been cleaned in months. The drop off was not staffed and disorganized, car lined up and no one checking them in. I waited and no one showed up and I walked away and dropped the keys at the counter.

BlahDrop off was smooth. That was the best part. LolCar seats were filthy and there was a computer issue during pickup which created a 30 minute delay to my road trip. Also cars are hard to find. An employee should escort customer to vehicle. I spent 10 minutes walking in circles looking for it.

The check in was horrible!!!! We were in line for about 11/2 hrs. There was one person working having to do all aspects of the job. She did an excellent job with customer service.

The best thing about this experience was the Manager the next day. We got our car the first day, not the right one. Our car was sold/overbooked. It died within using the car within 20 miles. Had to get it towed, service rep said we would have to incur the costs? Making us freak out for a moment. Manager fixed it and gave us a car and it worked for the rest of the weekend. Very upsetting to have this happen and its a real shame.

There was over 15 people waiting for their cars because they didn't have enough cars there! I was told it would be about 1.5 hour wait before I get the minivan I reserved! The young man there did a great job by giving me a large suv at no extra cost. He was working alone because 2 people called in that morning. This was the Airport location!

Pick up at the airport took forever (it was 10 pm and I was the only customer). I reserved an SUV and they only wanted to give me a small car that could only seat 5. We were going on vacation for over a month in another state than the pickup state. The car didn't have enough storage space for the trip. I was told it was unlimited mileage but found out at drop off they were charging for the miles used. I had to prepay the insurance, pickup tried to bill me again which I had to argue to get removed. Found out after drop off they recharged me the insurance. I can't reach anyone by phone so I submitted a question about the charges I'm still waiting for a response. I'll never use Hertz again.

NothingThe wait for a car would have been 2 hours. There were no cars available, I had a reservation but that did not matter. Employees not truthful! I completed the initial paper work that included paying A security deposit if 500 dollars. I CANCELLED MY RESERVATION AND WENT TO AVIS THAT WAS 10 STEPS TO THE LEFT OF HERTZ FRONT COUNTER. The price of the rental.The car almost made me sick every time I had to drive it. It smelled very strong of cigarettes. There was no one at the drop off location or at the counter.

The man at the service desk for the pickup was extremely friendly and personable, and the only reason I didn’t feel entirely cheated by my experience.There is no mention of the additional security deposit at any point prior to making the reservation, even if you pay for the vehicle ahead of time, and they will attempt to force you into paying a cancellation fee if you’re unable to cover the surprise $200 deposit. Make purchasers aware, before wasting their time.

Harrison was so very helpful. He gave us a great deal on a lot bigger car then I had planned and it was wonderful to have all that room. Made for a awesome ride back to VA. Also had a problem with being charged for Insurance which I already took out with Alamo for a different vehicle I was going to rent. But called customer service and they took care of it. ThanksWhen we took the vehicle back to Norfolk Airport there was a few issues. I called they said on the recording they were open till 11:30 pm. Door said 10:00pm. Got there before 9:00pm not a soul in site. Need to work on that.
