Compact SUV

Do not rent from this location, it’s a nightmare. The line to pickup was an hour. Drop off instructions were unclear, the actual garage to get and park the car was so narrow it was nearly impossible to park the car but the attendants wouldn’t help you. Undisclosed fees on final bill.

Persuaded to upgrade on arrival (I had booked the cheapest option and intended to do a fair amount of miles). Would definitely book direct next time, this was the last time via KAYAK. When my flight was delayed I contacted the number from KAYAK and they said they could do nothing, that I could miss my pick up slot and loose the car, that it might be better to cancel and rebook, but that they couldn't act on my behalf and inform SIXT at Bologna Airport. I would have to do that myself, directly with the desk. Then why bother using an agent?

Compact SUV

Vehicle was brand new, price was fair, pick up and drop off were relatively uncomplicated. The drop-off garage at Bologna airport is very cramped and hard to maneuver in, but it is shared by all rental companies there, so switching companies won't help. I would rent from Locauto again.

Supplier choice

No information from Kayak or Dollar that Hertz had taken over the administration of the booking. Additionally, when we got the car meant for 5 people, there were only a Fiat 500 with 4 seats. Otherwise, the car functioned fine, drove well, was clean. The car came with some scratches, we made sure to take good photos before and after, as we haven't gotten the final settlement as of yet.

Rented car in Bologna and returned in Florence, and I feel I was scammed. Advice: Be very attentive to every minor scratch on the vehicle before you accept it. I wasn’t, and they charged me over $400 for an extremely minor scratch UNDER the front bumper (I would have had to lay on the ground to see it!). Be warned! Unscrupulous behavior that never would have happened in the US.

I wasn’t able to rent a vehicle, so now I’ll need to go through the process of trying to get a refund from Kayak. The rental car desk said that I didn't have the proper documentation to be able to rent the car that I reserved and prepaid for. Hertz didn’t have a problem renting to me.
