When I went to pick up the car they wanted twice the price quoted on Kayak. Something to do with Insurance which I rejected. They insisted there was no choice for me...Panamian law. This should be quoted in the total price by Kayak. Very misleading. I had to pay a $1050 bond, taken from my credit card. Worst of all, when I returned the car, they deducted the rental cost from the bond and promised to refund the rest within 5 days. Instead they charged the amount to my credit card as a debit, not as a credit. I am still fighting for the refund some $US860. Never again.

When I rented the car online I paid for insurance and I had the understanding that it was to cover full coverage. When I arrived at the David Panamá airport I was told that it only covers the rental car not the other car and that was very disappointed since I had to pay an additional $115.00 dollars. I ended up paying more for insurance than the rental car. I would like to know where on the website does it state that the insurance bought was only to cover the car that was being rented, not the other car if you where in an accident? Thank you!

Hidden fees! The insurance was much more than any other country ($37 per day) and even though my quote said nothing about a one way fee it was.mandatory and $190. A total rip off!!!

Car ran well. Employees were friendly.

Cons:

I chose not to take CDW. I put a small scrape on rear bumper of this car that has 80,000 km on it and numerous dents and scrapes that have never been and will never be repaired. The "repair" charge will be $293, which I will forward to my credit card company. If the car had been new or nearly so, or if Sixt really intended to make a repair, I wouldn't mind the charge, but I see it more as a penalty for not accepting their high CDW charge. I'll probably rent from other companies in the future, even though they may have acted the same in this case. Bye bye Sixt!

Price quoted on web site was one price and price at counter was many times higher. Nothing on web site said that there was a very expensive insurance and it was required, even though our credit card says we can decline this insurance. Also they wanted a 5000 dollar deposit hold on our credit card. they are also very hard to find. separate from other rentals and poorly signed. We canceled our reservation.

Pros:

I was shocked and pleased at the initial low price of the rental. They get you on insurance. Obligatory insurance is over$17 per day and if you want any insurance to cover any damage to the car, the cost is an additional $18 per day.

After a 20 min line they just said to me that my reservation was automatically canceled because im local(panamanian) and online reservations are only for tourists. I had to looked for others car rental companies and thanks to Alamo Rent a car they save my weekend. So stupid to said or to even have a policy (that no one knows about it) that affects local people.
