What I really liked was the fact that I got to literally just go pick a car on my own, not be told which car I’m getting. New Jeep Compass had the new car smell. Clean and easy pickup and drop off. The trunk was pretty small but we were able to work it out. I was surprised to have a$300 deposit taken on top of the $500 rental fee. I’m waiting on the deposit return now. I just turned in the car yesterday.

The BMW was extremely comfortable, but we had a heck of a problem trying to figure out which button to push for various things. The people at the checkout counter, the key distribution and the return were simply a lot of fun. All of them were smiling and laughing when appropriate. That is a good operation! I was quoted a price upon reservation. When I arrived to pick up the car I was told the car did not have GPS which I assumed it would have and absolutely needed. The car with GPS cost me more than TWICE as much as the initial quoted price and it was not a category update. I have consistently rented with Sixt for years in Paris, France. You can look it up. GPS was never an issue. To say the least I am extremely disappointed at what I consider as misrepresentation, and will steer away from Sixt in the future.

The staff at the airport were kind and helpful during both pick-up and drop-off, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t go as smoothly. I wasn’t given any paperwork at pick-up, which became a problem when I ran into an issue with the car. The trunk wouldn’t close, and I didn’t have a phone number to call for help. I ended up having to stop at a gas station and pay out of pocket for assistance, which delayed my plans since I couldn’t safely drive with the trunk open. I then called customer service and spent about an hour explaining the situation. I was told everything was documented and that I would receive a credit. However, when I followed up on later days, I was told there were no notes from that call and no credit had been applied. I had to call several times and kept getting different answers, which was frustrating. To add to that, I received an email saying I could return the car at either 12 PM or 3 PM without any extra charge, but I was still charged anyway. I called several times about extending the lease. Due to renting through a 3rd party , I encountered a lot of wasted time. I had one agent who stopped talking to me because she couldn't understand what I needed. She literally stopped talking and sat on the phone. I rented through Kayak which I won't do again. Overall, while the in-person staff were great, the lack of communication and follow-through made this a really frustrating experience. I 'm still trying to get it resolved before disputing with the bank.

I booked Hertz on Kayak under the impression there was free cancellation. Expedia swooped the reservation and when I went to cancel 48 hours prior the charged me $156. I call total BS. Please look into it. You obviously have the reservation details as you asked me to rate the service.

Worst car rental experience ever!! Getting the car was over a two hour wait..horrible. Then after they assigned us a car when we got to it someone else had also been given that car and were already in it so back we went to get another car. When Avis asked for a rating and I explained what happened, absolutely no compensation was offered , just a “we’re sorry”. Sometimes that’s just not enough.

Hello Thrifty Customer Care, I’m writing to dispute several charges on my recent rental (Vehicle: SIRENCOREGXFW1S, Contract 01621/1279470). Total charged: $537.01 for 2 days at $69.99/day + a $30/day upgrade. Based on the receipt, here’s what I’m contesting: Inter-City Fee – $100.00 The car was picked up at IAH (Houston Intercontinental) on 08/28 and returned to HOU (Hobby) on 08/30. This was within the same metro area and was driven only 239 miles. I was not clearly informed that returning to a different Houston airport would trigger a $100 fee, nor was an alternative offered at pickup. Given the short distance, same-city return, and minimal mileage, I’m requesting a full waiver of this fee as a goodwill/clarity issue. Fuel Purchase Option (FPO) – $36.86 The vehicle left at 97% fuel and was returned at 97% fuel. With the tank returned nearly identical and only 239 miles driven, there was no need for a prepaid fuel purchase. If FPO was added, it was not clearly explained that it’s non-refundable when returning at the same level. Please remove/refund this charge. Concession Fee Recovery 11.11% – $33.33 and VLC/CFC/BUS – $22.81 Please provide the exact base amount used to calculate the 11.11% and a written explanation of each surcharge. The tax base of $466.96 also appears inflated relative to the rental/upgrade subtotal and add-ons. I’m requesting a line-by-line tax/surcharge calculation. LDW – $73.98 (2 × $36.99/day) If LDW was required to obtain the quoted rate, please confirm. Otherwise, note that the overall pricing appears to have increased significantly beyond the expected 2-day rental + upgrade. If LDW was not clearly optional or was auto-selected, I request a courtesy adjustment. To be reasonable, the total should reflect: Base + Upgrade (2 days): $199.98 LDW (if retained): $73.98 Removal of Inter-City Fee ($100) and FPO ($36.86) Corrected surcharges/taxes calculated on the proper taxable base . Please review and issue a refund/adjusted invoice, or provide a detailed written breakdown justifying each contested amount. I appreciate your prompt help—I’m happy to discuss by phone as well.

I had reserved a car ahead of time at least 2-3 weeks prior to my trip! And had paid it for it ahead of time. When we got to the Thrifty rental site, we chose to use the kiosk to sign in since the agents were busy with other customers and thought it would save time. When we checked in the kiosk , at the end of submitting all info we were told it could take several minutes to process our information. At that moment an agent was available and said he could help us but we told him that we had put all info in and we were waiting for the machine to process our information. He said there was nothing he could do to help us. We had to wait. Fortunately we had only to wait only 3-5 minutes. Then we were able to go to another agent who made us go through all the information we had provided at the kiosk! Next we went out to the garage to get our car and thought all was good after a frustrating and lengthy experience at the rental counter. As we were driving out with our car at the exit office our car was scanned and we were told IT WAS NOT RENTABLE!!!! The booth agent then took a marker out and starting writing on the window that car was not rentable and had us back up and drive it back to Thrifty pick up. When we returned to Thrifty pick up, we were told we could not park the car in pickup and had to take it back to drop off! We had not even left rental pick up lot! We parked the car in the pick up lot and had to wait as the pick up agent showed other people to their cars. Finally we were given a car and had no issues leaving the airport. That night was not terribly busy but we had to wait at least an 1hr and 15 min. to leave the airport. I have had way better experiences working with other car rental companies in large airports like Houston and never had to go through this. I will not be using Thrifty again because the service was POOR. The car was clean and comfortable though!

The low price is a trap, they will add them on when you check in. They were friendly when you enter the room, but have you wait there forever, while I was waiting, I saw people complaining about the adding on price, I saw people complaining why no car for them yet, I saw people had trouble returning the car, I had to google what is Easirent, all their reviews very poor, I decided to give up my money I've already paid (no refund 2 hours before checking in), before they rip off, they even had no people to help me while I was waiting there for 40 minutes.

Everything went great until it came time to drop the car off in Leesville. The drop off location had one employee working. When I arrived, there were 7 people ahead of me already waiting. She did the best she could, and did it with a smile on her face, but it took nearly 45 minutes for her just to be able to get to me, for a drop off that took less than 10 seconds to do. To staff this place with 1 person, alone, is absolutely absurd and laughable.

The drop off location on the contract was not the right place, and when I called customer service to fix the problem, they said that the Houston branch imputed my wrong birthday, so they couldn’t modify my reservation for the correct drop off location. I ended up taking it to Galveston (my original drop off) and they kindly took the rental in, and even offered me a ride to the cruise terminal. I am impressed, and great full for the Galveston branch.

I have used them before and liked the experience of the rental via TV. That part was still excellent and the return was also excellent. BUT it took almost 30 minutes for a shuttle, then there were so many people that it took ten minutes to load the luggage on the shuttle and the shuttle was so crowded that some people had to stand up in the van. The van driver was very, very nice, but the vans aren't frequent enough. It was made worse by only two of the four televisit kiosks working. It took FOREVER. They need to add more van service during high volume times. And they need to make sure that all kiosks are working and probably add two kiosks. There was a line of five people when I arrived and a line of five people when I left to get my car. The fellow on the tele rental was excellent. He could see that I had rented from them before and it made the process easier.

After a delay in flight they refused to give me my rental without a fee, they however said they could waive the fee if I right then gave them a "positive" review. Obviously red flags go up because these guys are trying to bribe for a good review. They refused to let me talk with a manager with one clerk claiming he was the manager after two others kept saying that "she" was not available. I left and rented with someone else as they are not trustworthy and will run u around. I got a refund later but I believe this was Expedia's doing as the first request for refund was denied, then a day later it was granted. Do not use this company, they offer cheap rides for a reason.

There wasn't a clear website or directions to find out how to even get picked up, I had to use gemini. I got a text after my rental started but before I was even picked up to go get the car that they may not have enough cars due to late returns. Not to mention a ton of 1 star reviews for the company on various websites claiming random fee additions, issues with drop off and pick up. I didn't even rent the car, the experience started off so bad I went to the rental counter at the airport and rented from sixt instead.

This is the worst company to rent a car. All of their cars did not have maintenance and they were dirty. Customer service the worst! They charge extra when you pick up the car plus a $300 deposit. I am writing to share my recent experience with CarWiz, as I unfortunately cannot recommend their services. While their rental prices seemed very attractive, the experience was not worth the time lost. I spent three hours trying to resolve various issues. It took a significant amount of time to get to the car, and upon arrival, they would not accept my insurance. Ultimately, I was unable to get the vehicle and had to return to the airport to find a different rental company. Furthermore, the logistics were quite difficult. The car was not located in the standard airport rental lot; instead, I had to take a shuttle and watch a video to coordinate a meeting with a driver for pickup. During the drive, I did not feel safe as the driver was talking to himself and texting while driving. Both my son and I felt we were in danger, and we will not be using CarWiz again.

Worst attempted car rental ever. The company is completely corrupt. You find yourself in a booth, where only one person is allowed, talking to a screen, where agents apparently trained to rip you off confound you. Price for paying for possible tolls is outrageous. Lies about whether you can rent a car in Texas with a Texas driver's license and no regular car insurance (because we don't currently own a car) when third-party insurance covers that issue. Never ended up renting us the car. Said we had to get a refund from the source where we found York. I could go on... The matter is now in dispute...

The address is wrong on Kayak. Cost me extra Uber to find the company. The car was not equivalent to a Honda CR 5. I have never heard of a car rental with no refunds. 30 minutes after making the reservation I realized it was at the wrong airport in Houston. I called Kayak and York with no refund policy and got no refund. Cost me extra Uber to get to the right airport. Kayak did not make the refund policy clear and did not make the differential between the two airports clear. The new car rental place of business is a mess, nothing more than an empty warehouse. After explaining my dilemma to the people at the place of business the people were unapologetic and rude. I will not rent with Kayak again, I am a stockholder of Expedia, I am sorry I tried your site.

First called several times the phone number to arrange the pickup when I was at the assigned location, no one answered. Then, after several attempts someone answered and said they just closed the shuttle at 6pm, without any notification and knowing I was arriving. Since they were not able to provide me the service, tried to cancel it and the AI bot just mentioned was not possible and then the live representative say they need to verify with the York location what I was reporting and to wait several days for just an answer, extremely poor Customer service, resolution and experience. Will never go ahead and trust a service with Kayak.

Wait time for pick up at the airport was extremely long. Tha rental place had only one man rin pick up and drop off. The rental place is being run from an hotel lobby which looks awkward to me. I had 2 flat tires which made it impossible to move, on calling the rental, they told me to call my insurance company because towing assistance wasn't part of the contract, so, incase you rent from York Car Rental any problem you encounter during the duration of your rental is entirely yours. The usual practice that the rental place will send you another vehicle as replacement is out of it at York. I had to spend additional $320 out of pocket to tow and replace the tires🙁🙁🙁. Even with this experience, I will give kudos to the Driver, who is an amazing guy 👍🤝.

You never actually speak to an in person customer service rep. It is done via video conference type call in a phone booth. They push their own insurance on you and unless you have the actual hard copy paperwork to prove your car insurance or credit card has coverage they won’t accept it. The first vehicle they gave us smelled of marijuana and the initial fix was to supply us with strawberry air fresheners to mask the smell. After some conversation a replacement was offered. This vehicle was so dusty that anytime we entered it a plume of dust would rise from wherever our feet touched. There were no floor mats and it was generally just not clean. Upon returning the vehicle, due to traffic I was approximately 30 minutes late and they are trying to charge an extra $80 fee. I was unable to reach a customer service rep as the return building was closed and the phone number provided only went to automated voice messages. As well, the shuttle from the airport took almost 1 hour to arrive and then another 45 minute drive to the rental building. Suffice to say this was the worst rental experience of my life and despite the cost looking cheaper it will end up costing you more in both money and time. Not worth it.

Extremely bad. It is simply a scam. They advertise it for $100, but the. They charges us for several more “fees”. In addition to that, they are yet to refund us our deposi. They picked us up about 75 min after we called th for pick up and they had initially said it was going to be 25 min. After that, there was no body in their office that could have given us the car. We had to wait about another 30 min until a guy with almost no experience showed up and gave us the car. The had a title of a luxury SUV with the picture of a GMC Yukon picture. However, we got a mid-size SUV which wasn’t really luxury (another scam). Also, the car had dents and damages all over and it was completely disgusting in the inside. As of today they have not given us our security deposit of $300. We would also like kayak to refund us the $100 we initially paid because it was all a scam.

This place is unbelievably BAD! No customer service counter, just a phone booth you enter where they tell you the price you paid is not the real price! Add a $350 service fee to be paid on site and you can have the vehicle you thought you paid for. Also keep in mind your original paid amount is non-refundable if it was like mine. AVR Houston is not located at the airport. Trying to make arrangements for pickup was a bit challenging. We had an early morning flight and asked about after hours returns. We were told they had a contract with a local hotel for drop off and the hotel shuttle ran every 15 minutes. We arrived at just after 5:00 am at the hotel. The front desk person was on a shuttle run and informed us that the hotel shuttle only ran every hour and we could not leave the hotel until after 6:00 am. We almost missed our flight.

Half is directed at Kayak, and half towards Advantage. Kayak did not send me to Advantage to continue the rental, but instead took me to Expedia, completely unexpectedly. Not sure if these two search engines are now connected? But then for Advantage, when I did receive an email confirmation, again it came wrapped in a poorly formatted email from Advantage. All the instructions were in an unformatted paragraph, and seemed also like spam. It wasn't until I took the rental car shuttle in IAH did I find out that Advantage wasn't located there. Rather than taking the shuttle all the way back and then to passenger parking, I canceled the reservation and booked directly with a competitor. In not of these complaints, I had specifically requested a rental company that was onsite and not off the airport property. As I discovered, ALL companies are off-site in IAH, but Advantage was off-off-site
