I got flat out denied to rent a vehicle due to not having a credit card with a high enough limit but plenty of money via debit card to cover anything necessary. Rental car companies take debit cards and have zero issues. I provide a deposit, all money for the rental, rental car insurance, etc. How is it that my credit rating is any concern? I can literally pay you up front, my driving history is practically spotless. I have no criminal history. Why can I not rent a car? If it wasn’t for Jerry at Avis and approval from management, I would’ve been stranded during a move. STL area has no vehicles to rent outside the airport and you can’t do the same processes you can at a non airport location. I had to rent a second vehicle from 2 hours away to finish my trip. Make it make sense and shame on Kayak for putting me through this.

Worked with a young lady named Heaven out of St Louis airport Budget rental. They had problems getting the transaction to go through so offered an upgrade. Only there 15min or so and left with a very nice vehicle. Always good when a company looks to make customers happy.

Pros:

The staff was courteous and friendly. I liked the fact that I had a choice of which van I could use. There were several different colors (I went with the gray with black wheels). After that the check out was smooth.

Cons:

The airport location I picked it up at (Lambert-St. Louis) the Enterprise signage was not very prominent so it was little confusing finding it.

The first car I was given had a problem, likely the belt, that was very noisy. We had it replaced, and we were given one that did not feel very stable at highway speed. Also, the lady at first pick up was a bit of a bully

I never got the car. I was unaware that I needed a credit card to pick up though I was able to book with a debit card. They told me I was not able to cancel and that my money was not on their hands and that that was the end of it.

I adjusted the days on the website but it didn’t show in the system at hertz. I needed the car and extra 2 days and they quoted me $977 for an additional two days. I had to return the car and go to another company during my trip. Worst experience.

The experience was as last time; it was excellent. Staff is always extremely friendly. When I arrived there was no shuttle. They sent one immediately when I called and I didn’t have to wait on the phone for 20 minutes to speak to a person. Just absolutely seamless.

They were closed when my plane arrived (on time as scheduled at 8:30pm). I never got a car. They were unapologetic that not informing me there would be no airport pickup or way to get the car I reserved left me stranded and scrambling to find a rental car last minute. I will Never do business with Dollar again. I suggest removing this Dollar store from your lists so this does not happen to anyone else.

shuttle pick up at airport was poorly signed so I waited a while at the wrong place. Dollar pick up is in a completely different location to all the other rental car companies but they don't tell you. Fortunately, the Thrifty shuttle driver told me. when I picked up the car, they just pointed in the general direction of where it was parked and I had to search for it. I then had to go back to the counter as it had a scratch. there was not much help checking out. at the return, there was only 1 agent helping people pick up and drop off.

At pickup, two employees were having a "robust" conversation as to who was responsible for listening to the vehicle numbers radioed back to them. It was a "passionate" conversation that prevented work from continuing. The conditions of some of the vehicles were a bit concerning. The F-150 clearly needed an alignment which could have been a safety issue. Another customer (disabled vet) was provided a Charger that had been in an accident. He waited around for roughly an half hour for help but no one came. He loaded his wheelchair into the trunk and left.

Long line because the checkout process hasn't changed in 30 years. Slow computers and too many unnecessary steps. Person offered me a pickup truck to get out faster. Got to the truck and someone else was in it. Then they gave me another car which was smoked in. Had to return to another Avis. They had no cars to swap but gave me a minivan that didn't have smoke, but wasn't clean. Worst rental experience ever. Will never use Avis ever again. It will go bankrupt.

When we picked up the car and went outside, the two greeters were chatting and showing pictures on their iPhones. After waiting a couple of minutes I had to ask if they were the greeters that were to get my car. We were anticipating getting a Camry as that was what was advertised and that is a car we were familiar with. The only car in the row of full-size cars was one !!! Impala. They radioed to someone and an assistant manager came out and began going off to bring up other cars. By this time, there were several other customers wanting any car to get onto their Business appointments. After considerable confusion, the assistant manager offered us a Hyundai Kona, telling us it was a considerable upgrade. We did not feel that it had much acceleration since we were having to get on the interstate and drive a couple of hours to our destination. When we returned the car on Natural Bridge Road coming from the east, we and five other customers turned in where it says “drop off.” along the fence. We parked the car and took our bags to the shuttle location only to find that we had left the car in an incorrect space and should have come down to the light at the next street to find your entry drive for drop off. This was considerably wearing on us in the heat to walk back with bags etc. Our wish would be a different sign at that turn in. I do wish to say that when we picked up the car, the shuttle drivers and the desk staff were more than polite, efficient and helpful. They are your stars. We would wish for a Code or number for discount that would make us return to Alamo as I am the one who does the booking. When my husband was working, he had a code for National and we always enjoyed the nice cars that we used during those years. Everything has changed since those days and that number is no longer recognized or honored. Thank you for your wish for feedback I do not wish to be a complainer as we recognize how difficult good service is to find these days. Mrs. Steve Stone
