The car was great.

Cons:

I rarely rent cars so this may be common knowledge, but when they say you dont need to return the car with a full tank of petrol, you should still do it. Hertz charged me themselves on a per litre basis to a full tank, then added an extra 20% fee on top. They should have advised me this on pick up!

They should have informed me about the complications with charging an electric car at a public station in France. One cannot just used a credit card as in other countries. You need to download various apps or, apply for their membership cards online. You might get stuck if you cannot make it to your first destination where you could load up on household current.

Upon arrival we were told that an electric car would not work near Toulouse. So we paid a hefty premium to change. Turns out that in our village two neighbours drove electric cars. Iow, SIXT was simply dishonest and price-gouging.

friendly reception in particular those showing the car and receiving the car back. The very big disappointment was on the actual price we had to pay FAR excessive of anything we had experienced before.. not the 339$ but 859 (hence nearly x3 !!!) !! => as insurance was not included and as we needed to have a set of snowchains in the car (not weather-wise required but as we were staying in a house slightly uphill in an area where such chains must be available in the car). Anyway, we paid double for 1-week rental compared to 1-year ago with another company for a 2-week rental (at Bergerac airport) including full insurance.... In conclusion: we will NEVER make such booking again (via Kayak or Budget).

Staff was friendly, car was relatively cheap for a Mercedes Class C.

Cons:

I was scammed into paying in dollars instead of euros. Contract said I was informed and agreed but it's false, I never agreed to have the car billed in dollars at an appaling rate which was 0.81€ for $1 when the actual rate was 0.90€ for $1 at the time of purchase. I'm not impressed by these practices. Also the car was dirty.

Cons:

Our car was missing the yellow vest and warning triangle - both required under French law. The car was due a service and the warning kept flahsing up.

The car was great. It would have been nice to get a little tutorial on the use of the car. It took me two hours of our three hour drive, to figure out the cruise control. Also, we never did figure out the navigation system - we ended up just using our phones. And, when I went to fill up with gas, we had a hard time finding the release for the gas filler door - it turns out it was a little button under the steering wheel. Another option would be a sheet that would explain those things, and maybe some others, that vary with different cars.

Not a good experience with the person who assigned me my car. Instead of just giving me whatI reserved, she kept on trying to upsell me. Once she realized I just wanted what I’d asked for, her demeanor changed and she became difficult…very “French”…using her language as a weapon against me. Not a good experience and likely will influence my choice of rental car companies, at least at Blagnac Airport, for the future.

Are used kayak for two rentals, and both ended up being with Avis. My first experience I was not very good… The rates were different, check-in was difficult, return resulted in charges that had nothing to do with the rental of the vehicle. The second rental went perfectly. The attendant who checked me in on a return was very professional and courteous, unlike the first experience. I guess It is a question of who you get on the staff, because my first experience was really unprofessional.
