Cons: They did not have the mini van we rented and we weee a group of 7 so the small car we got offered instead wasn’t going to work for us so went without a car
Cons: $475 for a small car for one week is exhorbitant
Pros: Airport pick-up
Cons: Very dishonest about fuel charge. Would not let me self refuel after telling me how much the fuel charge will be claiming system already completed the rental.
Quick pick up and drop off.
Pros: I liked the dropoff being so quixk.
They will price gouge you
Pros: The car was fine and clean.
Cons: I was horrified at the price they quoted for full insurance. I always expect that I'll have to stand up for myself and haggle some when dealing with a car rental agency in Mexico. However, $285 for 2 days with a economy vehicle with "full insurance" was absolutely outrageous. The car that was initially offered had a cracked windshield, and they claimed they had no other cars. After insisting they give us another vehicle and reducing some of the insurance coverage, suddenly the price dropped by $100 and a new car appeared 5 minutes later. Would NEVER use them again.
Quoted Rate extremely wrong
Cons: We arrived at the airport in Loreto Mexico. The rate was to be $4 per day. OK I know that we should have some insurance - but in reality we have a great deal our own insurance. But I plan to add some insurance when we get there. Insurance is not 10 or 20 dollars a day, no it is $50 per day. Not only that - but you MUST buy their insurance. Anyway we decided against, just as well the city is tiny, tiny and we walked most everywere and hired a driver for out of area trip, rented a car for 1 day to look around the different beaches. So I guess the high prices forced us to see things from a different perspective.
Good deal
Pros: Convenient, right outside the arrival door at the airport. This was the first time renting and we did it because it was cheaper than the cost of the shuttle to Villa del Palmar at the Islands, where our timeshare is. The car fit the 5 of us and the luggage. Return was easy even though no one was there for the turn in....
Cons: No one there to turn the car in when we left, just placed the keys in the box. I had to contact ALAMO customer service after i got back home to try to get a receipt from them for the final bill, which ended up being $30 more than expected, even with the mandatory third party liability. ALAMO customer service really helped and that was appreciated.
Don't be fooled by list price
Cons: Mexican third-party liability insurance is not included in the fees and is required for Mexico, if you don't want to sit in jail while they figure out who is at fault in the accident. It is not covered by your credit card or your US insurance policies either. It is significantly more expensive than renting the car. overall though it was about $350 for a week renting a Volkswagen Jetta.
