Cons:

Very confusing to find. No signs directing you to where it is, even the GPS couldn’t find it. Once we did finally find it, there were no signs indicating where to go or what to do.

Never prepay anything... Wanted to switch my reservation to my wife's name. Not allowed. They made me cancel my reservation and rebook in her name. $500 cancelation fee. Not really acceptable as she was standing right next to me at the counter. Just another b.s. fine print screw the customer situation.

There is construction going on in the Malaga airport and the signs leading to car rental are all incorrect. We walked all over the airport before finally seeing a van with the logo on the side and running after it and stopping it to find out how to get a ride to the vehicle location. Once we got there the people were outstanding. Walked us through our rental, the charges, what to expect, really all we could ask for. The vehicle itself was comfortable and drove well. The drop off in Madrid was ok, but there was some damage to the vehicle that we ended up paying for that we had no idea happened. I'm guessing somebody hit us in a parking garage. Oh well, not the rental car companies fault, but it did put a damper on the return process.

Rude customer service agent told me that i have to wait 20 minutes for my car because my reservation was at 11 am even though they had plenty of cars and nobody in the office. Ended up going to Hertz.

I liked that RecordGo were in the main airport terminal. The car was ready and reasonably new (around 20K km and with Apple CarPlay) and RecordGo said they were only interested in scratches of more than 4cm. No fuss, all worked well and I enjoyed several hundred trouble-free km in the vehicle. Drop-off at the end was equally easy.

Really pushy at the pick-up desk. Said that the insurance I purchased from Priceline wasn't valid and tried to sell me more insurance - really pushed hard for me to buy more. Then tried to sell me an upgrade that was 3x my daily rate, which was more funny than anything else. Rental car places are known for being a bit pushy and dishonest, but this was next level. I wouldn't rent from them again, and have been watching my credit card like a hawk for other "extra" charges.

Pros:

Super easy pick up at the airport counter then a small walk to the garage at the airport to get in the car and go. No pressure on buying extra insurance or upgrading.

Cons:

Over all one of the best rental encounters I have had in over 40 years.

Cons:

Kayak computed incorrect tax on our invoice. We had to pay another €20 at return. Other than that one thing, everything was perfect. Oh, and one other thing, the directions to return the car need to be a lot more of a step by step type of thing. It simply says return at airport. Uh, yeah. Go to airport. Ok. Then what? Where? This needs to say exactly where one is going. Easy. Small. Needs added. Again, great experience.

Misleading fuel option from the pickup agent. I ended up returning the car with a full tank of gas just to learn I somehow agreed to pay for an entire additional full tank of gas. I expect more from hertz.

The service rep in Malaga was very nice and very helpful

Cons:

Poor functioning car. Low tire pressure. Multiple notices about service which was due. Had to fill one tire 4 times during trip Malaga noted car as no damage. Madrid counted all minor scratches and door nicks and tried to charge me for them. They were aggressive and unfriendly. We were told the car was red and in a certain space number. The car was gray and in a different number and I wonder if they mixed up keys I rent cars frequently and from Hertz and this whole situation and car will steer me away from Hertz and Avis forever.

The pick up location is not in the airport, you have to take a shuttle. Make sure not to come too early before the reservation as they will make you wait. Additional charge of 15$ for diesel cars that they don't tell you about.

Pickup experience was fantastic. The staff at the Malaga location were very friendly and helpful. However, we had a change in plans and needed to drop the car off earlier than expected and it would be before they open. Getting ahold of someone to figure out how to schedule that was a pain! I was hung up on 2x and when someone did give me a number to call, they reeled the numbers off super fast then hung up before I could confirm I had it correctly. I don’t think this is an issue with the Málaga location we rented from, but the main corporate lines customer service. Once we were able to get ahold of the right information, drop off went really smoothly.

The car was very nice and new.

Cons:

Woman showing us to car was awful! I rented the car and did contract at airport, but she would only speak to my husband. Very odd, to only speak to males. I ask to take her name to speak to manager and she took off her name tag and wouldn’t show it to me. I told her I’d take her photo then and she tried to grab my camera. Bizarre! Be careful women! Also did not have car size reserved and had to pay more to upgrade.

Cons:

First, the counter person was insistent that I had to take the vehicle that they were offering, which was nowhere near what I had requested. They lied to us, saying that they did not have another vehicle, until I told them to cancel the reservation, and went and stood on the Avis line. Then, all of a sudden, another vehicle popped up, miraculously. They still charged the same price, as if a luxury vehicle, and over charged for the insurance. I do not feel that we should have even been charged for the vehicle which I turned in less than 24 hours after getting it. Very bad experience, very poor customer service, not the way to start any vacation.

Cons:

I followed your suggestion bought an insurance to cover my rental vehicle at Eurocar rental. The policy number is PL11319420303 of Allianz Global Assistance. But at the rental company, a lady rep. said I have no insurance and almost force me to buy their own insurance. I told her I have an insurance when I booked and paid my contract. She still says I need one , otherwise I will get trouble. Finally, she charged me higher security deposit for did not buy Eurocar own insurance. It is every bad business action to the customers.

Cons:

It took me more than an hour to find and deduce that Goldcar was the intermediary of Ace, they had a little sign, hardly visible that said Rodeon. Price with Ace perfect. I decided for an upgrade at Goldcar (Rodeon) and it was ridiculous more expensive. A worthless GPS for 100€!!!. And I had to leave 2000$ for deposit plus €150 for gas, these amounts hopefully I'll get back to my credit card in a week.

Staff was kind. in the mail "CarRentals.com Car Reservation - Ace Rent A Car Confirmation #CRV9189677" there was not mentioned the REAL car rental company which is was GOLD CAR, this time, we where looking for it more then 30 minits... I bokked the car and paid for the full insurance (11 EUR for each day) by the CAR RENTALs.Com, and payd for the CAR rental but at the GOLD CAR DESK I had to pay more 279,75 EUR, it wa snot mentioned when I booked the CAR on the rental Page.. COBERTURA Super Relax... 128 EUR... the mann at the service desk could not tell why we ned this... just we have to pay it... Especialy for the SMART RETURN... it was not easy to find the CAR KEY return DROP BOX... In that CASE naver again ACE... BR.

Pros:

Any good was overwhelmed by the bad, annoying and vacation-stealing problems. See below.

Cons:

Did not like taking a number to talk with an agent, but that was the start. 45 minutes later we went to get our car which was parked in a dark garage so we could not effectively inspect for damage. Rude worker responded “Habla espanol” when we asked where the exit was. Three miles into journey the car began to buck and miss when accelerating. Called company and after 1 hour they picked it up leaving me stranded without transportation. Three hours and four calls later a taxi picked me up to take me back to the airport for a replacement car. Almost 2 hours later, after line standing, I got a car that worked, but like it’s predecessor, was parked in a dark garage so again damage inspection was not feasible and later scratches were found that were there before we picked it up. This exchange took most of 1 day out of vacation. Not a happy camper.

When I rented the car with ACE - there was NO mention that ACE is actually Gold Car in Malaga. When I tried to ask for help, no one knew what I was talking about and had never heard of ACE. I kept showing the confirmation, which clearly had the ACE logo, name and confirmation number. Not anywhere on my reservation did it state that Gold Car was a code partner. This debacle took over an hour to solve after I had to call the office (after waiting on hold for 45 minutes). Finally found the Gold Car pick up desk and was told I had to buy additional insurance, even though I bought insurance through Allianz once I rented the car, which cost an unexpected 150 Euros. The customer service woman at the desk was so unfriendly and clearly hates her job and made for an already frustrating experience completely unbearable. It was very difficult to find the car in the labyrinth of cars in the parking garage. no one was down there to assist. Once I finally found the car, I was shocked to see that it was a manual and not an automatic. Luckily, I know how to drive a stick but I kept thinking that if this were any of my friends, they'd be screwed since they don't know how to drive one. Again, there was no mention of this on the reservation or gave me an option to choose manual over automatic when i booked the car. My ability to drive a stick was my only saving grace in this whole unfortunate, unpleasant experience. I will never rent a car under these conditions again.

The “Audi or equivalent” car turned out to be an entry level sedan. The would not honor the insurance I purchased through Kayak and tried to charge me double for their insurance. I ended up walking away from the counter. Horrible horrible experience.

I was attempting to be specific on types of car I would receive and even attempted to speak to Avis ahead of time. I wanted specifically a BMW or Audi and that is what my reservation stated. When I arrived, they said they did not have BMW/Audi unless I wanted to upgrade my reservation

Drop off was confusing. Lady at the counter said that someone in the parking lot will finish my contract up. Gentleman in the parking lot said that's not necessary and that I flcan leave, but he did it anyways. I ended up taking manual in lower class over booked automatic and did not get any refund.

Pros:

Car was as described, drop off was very easy and well sign posted, you can collect the car with a full tank of fuel. Competitive price.

Cons:

There is an extra fuel charge, even if you bring back the car full. Two and a half hour wait at the airport in a very big queue to collect the car. Staff did not explain that the car was parked in the Europecar area which meant it took us a long time to find. Car smelt a bit strange but other than that was clean.

I booked pick up for 11 am we got through quicker than expected but when I went to collect at 10.15 am I was told we would have to wait until 11 am so we had to sit in the airport car rental area wasting time. I can see no reason for having to wait. The car itself was scratched, clunky, not the VW Polo advertised and not similar in regard to the driving experience. The Vauxhall we were given was clunky. The tyres were not fully inflated. The oil light came on. The car was clean inside, but grubby on the outside. It had a car rental sticker peeling off on the driver door. The cost was high and poor value for money.

Goldcar is the cheapest for a reason- they don’t make it clear to you that at the airport they want €1000 euro deposit that they will keep for 3 weeks after the booking. We followed instructions and dropped the car off in the designated bay, keys in the drop off box but were then charged a €70 fee per day claiming that the car had not been delivered. We were refunded this when they actually took the time to go collect the car. Never ever would I use them again
