We rented a minivan Because we had 7 people. When we arrived they said “sorry we are out of minivans,” and they gave us a small suv. My daughters had to sit on each other’s laps and could not fit in a seatbelt. They did not offer anything to us.

We had to book a rental car because our daughter and 10,000 other girls were descending into the Denver area for a softball tournament. At first when I was looking for cars I was shocked at how much rentals were going for. The cost of a car was more than my hotel room. But one day I had checked kayak and was stunned to see it costing $288 for 6 days for a small suv. Which was an unbelievable price. We had friends that were paying $700 for the same car so we felt like we got a great deal. Arrival. We got there on Monday which was after everyone else had arrived so we did not wait at all. There was no lines for pick up and none at the counter. Pick up was fairly quick. We waited like 10 minutes. The whole process to get a car was quick. I got talked into getting the toll road pass. If you aren’t going to be driving in the city with tolls. Do not buy this as it’s a waste of money. Gas. I paid for gas but if you fill it up before you come back it’ll be safer. The car itself was ok. The first one I got wreaked like smoke so I asked for another car. The second one was in good condition. 70,000 miles on it so it was driven a lot for a rental. Car ran fine. Had no issues at all. We knew returning it would be chaos. So we added some time to be sure. Our flight was at 5:33. We got to the office at 3:00. There was a line that was about 100 feet long with people waiting for the shuttle to get to the airport. Check in was a breeze. We got in the back of the line at 3pm. There were people who saw the line and decided on Uber’s and Lyfts instead. We watched as people were cramming themselves into three beat up shuttles buses. One was a larger size one. One small shuttle and one 15 passenger van. As we were moving up in the line the driver of the larger shuttle parks the shuttle off to the side and walks away from it. You had like 200 people standing there watching him walk off. By now it’s 4:15. The guy driving the smaller shuttle returns and he says wait I’m going to get the bigger one. So he parks the smaller shuttle and brings over the bigger one. We get to the airport at 4:30. Check our bags and got to the gate when the plane was halfway boarding. I know they had an influx of cars returning. I know it was busy. But they could’ve done a better job organizing it. Will I rent from them again. Yeah I mean it’s a rental car. It ran. It did it’s purpose. Next Time I’ll just give myself an extra hour.

Knowing what I know now I would never recommend them. The pickup shuttle in Denver CO, looked like it had been pulled of a dirty used car lot, complete with duct taped seats, and cigarette burns. When we arrived at the rental office, it was in complete disrepair. The bathroom toilet was not only unusable, it was missing parts! The rental agent was very pushy on up-charging me for items I didn't need. They charged me for liability insurance even though I said no. Keep in min I had already paid in full online before picking up the car. What were all these extra charges? Plus, they didn't do a vehicle inspection before shuffling me out the door. The car was a very used Mitsubishi Outlander, with seat punctures, paint scuffs, etc., and 43K on the odometer. When I had an issue with a tire I called their roadside assistance. After waiting over half an hour, they put me into voicemail. It took over 6 hours for them to return my call! I fixed it myself. Never again.

Pros:

Car was fine, pick-up and drop were fine. My issue would be with the signage on the buses (on EVERY window of the bus) letting passengers know you are limiting the number of people onboard and requiring all to wear masks to protect us. And then the driver just keeps on letting people board - every seat was taken, people were standing and maskless.

The vehicle was dirty inside and out, windshield has smudges all over the inside glass, car had not been vacuumed well, the outside was dirty as well. My first time using your service outta DIA and was kinda disappointed compared to my usual rental. Also the car was not in the best shape considering I paid for a premium vehicle, a Cadillac what was dirty, had a few dents and scratches, around the car the wheels were curb rashes pretty good. I get they are rental vehicles trust me I do, I used a rental often but when you pay for a upgrade you kind of expect and nice well kept vehicle for your money. The car also had a slight odor to it when we got, not sure exactly what it was but it went away about a day or two later so it wasn’t too bad. This review is not meant in a bashful way, it’s constructive feedback. Your customer service was wonderful as I said and customer service goes a lot farther in my book so for that I appreciate the service but the cars could use a litter more attention. Thank you

Wait in line for an hour because they don’t have enough staff. They said that shuttle only starts at a certain time so I had to order a Lyft just to get there and see the shuttle going so that was a waste of money.

Sixt has predatory lending practices. The quote provided was $220 for a luxury SUV, it was around $50-70 per day plus fees. When you get there, they say road chips from everyday wear and tear would cause 'Damage' and that they recommend purchasing at least the insurance for the outside. Thinking they would nitpick the smallest little chip which is quite frankly, completely unavoidable driving any car, I purchased the insurance which was presented hastily and without transparency. The deposit they take for the car was 5 times what I was quote ($1,000) which is a mortgage payment, and the insurance was more expensive than the daily rental cost! All in all, I went with this reservation because it was on par with cars on Turo price wise and it looked more convenient for the Airport. Little did I know I would be paying a total around $450... more than double what I expected to pay initially. Will never rent from them again.

When returning the car to the Denver airport, I got stuck in 2 traffic jams. The first one was for an hour and the second one was about 45 minutes. This put me in a situation where I didn't have time to fill the truck with gasoline by the airport (which is what I ususally do). I was charged $10.99 a gallon which totaled $200. This is simply outrageous. I could see paying a little more than the going price, but this was absolutely ridiculous. I would say this is price gouging. Won't be renting from Sixt again.

Rental was excellent. Drop-off was excellent. Really impressed with those aspects. Only thing that could be improved was the time spent during pickup. It still seems like this process should be as simple as entering my info into an automated kiosk to get my keys from a self-service locker, rather than waiting 20 min for a human to finish helping others.

Pickup took a long time--I saw between 1 and 3 shuttles for all other agencies pass me by and never one from Sixt. I ended up getting to the desk on another agencies shuttle after the driver took pity on me and I walked next door to Sixt. At the counter, I was hard sold on extra insurance despite having purchased already from Kayak. I tried to use their webpage/app to preload my driver license and picture to save time, but it did not work correctly, and after doing it all twice, I still have to go to the counter where they did it all again, The car I reserved was not available but they gave me an "upgrade" (which they were going to do anyway due to the lack of availability) to apologize for the long pickup wait and app annoyances. In addition to this, the rental car area is quite a bit away from the airport via shuttle. It took over an hour to get from the jetbridge to out of the airport via Sixt.

The instructions for the pick up location at the airport should include "Off-Airport Rental Car". AVR was in small letters below & hard to see. We accidentally ended up on the wrong shuttle and had to go back to the airport and get the correct one. Mostly MY fault for not ready the signs properly!

Stood in line for 30 minutes inside to check in for rental. After the check in, we were given a sticky note with numbers and told to stand outside by the white tent. Once there, we stood outside for almost a hour to pick up a random car that was given to us despite what was requested for the class we chose. The girl “issuing cars” was far from helpful and seemed annoyed if you had questions. Once in the car, the last renters trash was still in the doors, but overall a clean car with only 1100 miles. Drop off was easy and quick.

The Pick up experience took over an hour from the shuttle dropping me off at the rental facility, to being taken to the car. it appeared as if there was no plan to help the volume of customers arriving in the late Friday evening, even though this is ski season and they knew full well the number of renters who would arrive. In addition, the people at the check in counter aggressively upsold, convincing me that I should pre-pay for a full tank of gas when that was not the best thing for me. They also tried to up sell me on vehicles. I will not be using EZ car ever again

I was upsold a 4wd bc the worker told me I would get turned around in Colorado for having 2wd, and was misinformed of the price too (there was no checkpoint, didn’t need it, paid more than what I was told) 2. The car pick up took way too long, apparently it was everyone’s first day so in training (literally, they told me) 3. I was OVERcharged and not given back a refund/credit 4. The shuttle driver wasn’t very friendly either 5. Needs a big change in management to salvage company reputation and operational efficiency

Two things could have been improved: 1. After making an initial reservation (daily rate of $66/day), I initiated action to update my reservation with flight info, etc. and Budget automatically refreshed my daily rate (up to $77/day). And I received an email from Budget thanking me for updating my info! I did not appreciate the increase from the original agreement. 2. The vehicle I received at the Denver airport turned out had brakes that shuddered when applied. It was particularly irritating as we traveled in the mountains on I-70 west to Frisco then south to Buena Vista.

Nice new car, but neglected. Rear hatch was broken. Air in tires was low, as was the windshield wiper fluid. The low tire warning came on when I was out in the boondocks with no cell service. I made it back to town and after 5 stops, found a station with air to fill tires. Neglect.... The people at the pickup location, and dropoff, were great. Just don't buy a used car from these guys.

Nothing but good things to say about my car rental experience with Payless. Everyone there was very nice, friendly, and helpful. When our original car had accidentally been double booked, they had a new upgraded car ready right away. And the shuttles to and from the airport were super convenient.

They use the Avis shuttle but do not tell you that. I wanted 45 minutes for the shuttle until driver told me that they were also picking up Payless customers. Picking up the car was awful. They tried to charge me for an upgrade after saying they didn't have any cars in the class I reserved. Then the car they assigned me to was already occupied by another customer that was also assigned the same car. It took a long time to actually get the car I reserved. I felt like I was being scammed. A different employee helped me after I was assigned an occupied car. He was great. He gave me the car I had reserved and did it quickly. No problems after that. Also, I could not reach customer service by phone to ask about shuttle. Calls would not go through or were not answered

Pickup was easy and quick, that's where the positives ended.

The car was obviously not cleaned, there were crumbs in the steering wheel and change in the center console, the windshield was impossible to see though at night because it was so dirty (like it had been sprayed to be cleaned and never wiped off), the rearview mirror was broken and jiggled while the car was in motion. When it came time for drop-off, the address on the contract printout was incorrect so the GPS would have taken us the wrong way had we not realized it was obviously the wrong way.

The Payless location was closed. I had to figure out with no signage at the Payless location or information on my reservation that the Avis location was servicing Payless customers. There was absolutely NO communication about this. I had to walk with 3 bags to the Avis location after being stranded at the Payless location. No one at Payless or Priceline could or wanted to help me. This caused me to be delayed by an hour, and it was an annoying and difficult situation do deal with. This needs to be remedied for future customers!!!

having the car clean no with mud and dust and papers and stuff inside plus with wash fluid because at the middle of my trip from Denver to Vail I got the low wash fluid sign the first time I used it so obviously before getting to Vail I ran out of wash fluid in the middle of a snow storm which made the beginning of my trip very dangerous because of a lack of supervision from your company which delivered a car which has recently dropped at your facilities, very bad honestly.

Staff was friendly enough but understaffed and determined to sell every extra option. Car was nice and drove well.

Cons:

More shuttles. Long wait at terminal on arrival and similar wait after drop off. Rental office is a couple miles from the terminal. Long, slow lines at rental office with not enough agents. Some agents did not appear to work quickly with each customer despite long line of waiting people. Some agents push hard for customers to upgrade or add options that increase cost. This further slows the transaction and is aggravating if you are number 15 in line. Won’t use Ace again.

Pickup was a nightmare. Spent an hour at least just waiting for a car. Staff was nice but small talking everyone to try and slow everything down. The toll fee scam they are running is world class. $50 PLUS the toll if you dont pre-purchase their toll scam at $10/day??? Come on! If Denver had an option to pay at the toll then i can see this being justified, but when the city requires toll by plate this is just a scam

Drop off was easy and the shuttle came 2 minutes after.

Cons:

The car had 44,000 on it and was more like Rent a wreck. The car had a sweet, chemical smell in it, Iike it was covering up cigarette smoke. Needed the windows open. No screen on car dash for navigation from your phone.

Pros:

I guess with no one wanting to work, this is the new normal. There must have been a hundred people when we walked in the office. 2 people working. We waited an hour and heard rumblings that they were out of cars. 4 hours later we were pulling out of AVR with a car, which had stayed open late and another employee that had already clocked out came to the airport and picked us up. YAY AVR!!!

I didn't rent a car from Dollar. Their line was more than two hours long. After that, there would have been an hour wait for a car to be cleaned to become available. I rented a car from National next door to Dollar. It took less than five minutes to get in a car and drive away.

Cons:

Dollar was understaffed and overbooked. They completely wasted my time.

Absolutely nothing. When we originally tried to book a car, we werent given the car we requested. My wife waited on the phone for 20 minutes before talking to a person who didnt offer a solution, a cancelation, or an upgrade, which we would have been happy to pay for. We decided to let it go and deal with it when we got to denver. Once there, we waited in line for 3 hours for our rental and was then refused a refund when i went to another car rental counter even though there is supposed to be a free cancelation. That's right. I waited in line for 3 hours and was refused a refund because i wouldn't wait longer! 150 people in line and 1 person working the counter. So, i paid for a car that i never received. This is easily the worst experience I've had with any company I've had in my life. No one should book with dollar through kayak. Ever. For any reason. Ever.

Cons:

Every aspect of this experience could have been better. Getting hit in the face daily with a hammer for an entire year would be better than having to interact in any capacity with dollar rent a car. This is the very first bad review I've ever written, but my experience was so very bad i hope it'll help someone else avoid the same horrible situation.

Pros:

The process was fairly easy to rent the car. The shuttle was there promptly and when we went inside there wasn’t a huge line and they even upgraded my car so that was awesome.

Cons:

I didn’t like the limit of mileage that I had, I thought it would be unlimited but they still gave me more than enough miles to do what we wanted to do.

Staff were great. They only had one shuttle and had to ewait outside for a while. They crammed in 15 people during the pandemic back to the airport. Other than that, a great value and the SUV was great..

More shuttles. I stood at the curb close to an hour waiting for the shuttle. So many people accumulated that when the shuttle finally came, only half the group could fit. There was no room for the large families with small children. Bad scene.

Nothing, horrible experience from start to finish.

Cons:

The whole operation is nothing but a scam. There is NO customer service and they charged my credit card a $500 deposit 4 days after I returned my car(no incidents to the car). 10 days after returning the car, charges have not been removed and nobody from corporate will not respond to me.

Apparently Dollar and Thrifty are renting out of the same building, and I waited a full two hours to get to the counter. The line was horrendously long. The only reason I stayed on time was that I got there early to see if I could get a car early, otherwise my schedule would have been blown completely out of the water. PLEASE figure out how to separate the two companies for now!!

We waited TWO HOURS in line to pick up our vehicle. Only four agents who moved at a glacial pace. I understand that this is typical for Denver. Terrible. There must be a way to expedite the checkin process. Some people were with an agent 15-20 minutes. I won’t rent Thrifty again

Made my reservation and they charged me double and told me that I waited to reserve the car causing it to double even though I had my print out. I was told according to them the charge was correct rather than trying to rectifan obvious glitch in the reservation. I canceled and went to another company

Pros:

The Silvercar rental people were amazing. They explained all the features of the Audi I rented. They were super helpful when I had to switch the car for the Audi SUV due to more people arriving for Christmas. I would highly recommend using Silvercar to rent an Audi in Denver. Super fun car and SUV to drive!

Cons:

The only issue I had was navigating the web site, but I believe that was both an issue using a third party rental and my lack of knowledge. Once I got ahold of a Silvercar representative the issue was resolved quickly.

I hated every moment dealing with National. Upon arrival, the employees at the counter didn’t bother asking us for our reservation information they just turned us and the other clients away. Not only did they sell our reservation, which we had done with more than two months in advance, but they offered no type of solution or assistance to the problem THEY CREATED. Their cavalier responses were “try booking with another company” or “Uber to your destination”. No one in the counter really made an effort to deal with myself or the other clients who were also left screwed over by their poor management and decision making skills. Each and every single one of the employees just dumped the issue to the next until finally they pulled a lame excuse out of their asses as to why they wouldn’t even try to help us. They wanted to hold on to the fact that “it was late at night and they couldn’t do much.” I did take their advice and took my business elsewhere, and the lady at Avis went above and beyond to help me and my group of 17+ get a car to get to our destination. She did not care that it was past 3am and her shift had ended. She did everything she possibly could as a simple customer service associate to help me and my family. Something that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the National employees claimed they could not do because “it wasn’t in their power” I wouldn’t make a reservation with National or it’s affiliates even if my life depended on it. Definitely will tell every single person I know that National is by far the worst company to rent with and the customer service offered at the Denver International Airport location is so poor, that Satan himself would feel offended.

Our flight was delayed and when we got to National to pick up our vehicles (we had 2 different reservations), THEY HAD NONE! It was past 1am and the only thing we were told was "I'm sorry", "there is nothing we can do about it", "go to another rental car place and see if they have anything available". THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL; CUSTOMERS DEPEND ON THESE RESERVATIONS WHICH ARE DONE MONTHS IN ADVANCE, TRUSTING THAT NATIONAL WILL HONOR THEM. IT WAS A PARTY OF 17 PEOPLE AND WE WERE STRANDED, IN THE COLD, AT 1AM, WITH NOWHERE TO GO AND NO REAL HELP FROM YOU. WE WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH YOU AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND YOU TO FRIENDS AND FAMILIES. DO BETTER!!!!!

It was impossible to hear the announcements they made in the shuttle from the airport, so there was some confusion about which stop to get off. The shuttle driver wasn't helpful at all. He totally ignored our questions. Luckily we got off at the right stop, but only to find that the facility was full of people waiting for cars. We were told the cars were coming in faster than they could turn them over, but I find this hard to believe since it was the start of a holiday weekend. We waited over an hour in line, and then we FINALLY got our car.
