My credit card covered rental insurance fully and Europcar asked for an email from my bank/credit card company before giving me the car. I had to call my credit card provider and have them send an email to Europcar. Pretty damn ridiculous. All told, I wasted three hours getting all this sorted, and even after I finally got them what they needed, they put a EURO 5,000 authorization charge on my account, an obscene amount for a one-week rental. Also: There's a 25 EURO airport surcharge that I was never made aware of, and a 35 EURO charge to travel into Northern Ireland, which I also wasn't made aware of until the time of payment. I recommend you book elsewhere, because a Google search tells me that not all car rental companies charge for traveling into Northern Ireland.4.4 Mediocre

Upon arrival in Dublin we were shuttled to an outside airport location. The quoted vehicle was not available, altho we had reserved it several months ahead. In fact they said Dublin NEVER carries that model (a 9 passenger van). So we were given a smaller (7 pax) vehicle which was way too small for our 6 adults to enjoy for a week. The quoted price was 1/4 of what they ended up charging. We had insurance but they would not accept it and required we pay the Europcar offered policy. We have rented in many other countries without all the insurance demands. We would never have booked with them if the initial quote had been correct as other vendors had just what we wanted. Europcar is a real RIPOFF.6.8 Okay

The booking made on kayak did not include any basic insurance, absolutely nothing, which is illegal. That's why kayak gave me low price. So when i arrived to the airport i was told that i didn't have any insurance. So they cancelled the booking and offered me a car for the same price but with insurance. I will never ever again use kayak and i will strongly recommend never to use it.7.6 Good

we had a tire blowout and had to pay for a tire directly even though we had paid a large sum for insurance to cover this situation when we rented the vehicle. the tire cost should have been paid by Sixt directly. we still haven't been reimbursed for the tire cost.9.6 Wonderful

I used my credit card’s insurance guarantee, but nowhere in the reservation did it say that to do do ALSO required a letter from my credit card company stating (1) that they cover the Republic of Ireland, (2) they will cover the lace loss if totaled, and (3) the last 4 numbers of my cc account. So at the Europcar desk I had to make that phone call, wade through a few phone trees, then talk to a couple of humans. I did get the letter (great service by my cc bank!) but I was lucky - that approval process may take up to 24 hours. The Europcar desk agent said this happens “quite a bit” with the brokers because you don’t provide the information about what each rental car company requires to use the cc insurance waiver benefits. I suggest adding a link to your process that will take your to the specific rental car company page for their CDW. I did use the link provided for my rental but it did not say I would have to get the letter etc.7.6 Good

The lines were really long with people complaining and not moving. The Payless personnel were in the same space as Budget and Avis and it was hard to tell the difference in who was working what. Eventually all personnel worked on the same long Payless line. Then the price of our car quadrupled.2.0 Poor

the second car was very good. they helped us at the airport which was a better location. However, the agent that helped us was less than helpful. it needed to be clearer that if you didn't take their insurance they were going to put 7500 euros on your credit card. he was unwilling to provide options. In comparison we dealt with another company in glascow and they provided good alternatives with reasonable costs. A much better experience.Cons:

Poorly defined conditions of sale -- not easily known that if not picking up car within 2 hours then sale is forfeited and no negotiation to change this. Flight delay lead to the rental agreement being voided and no other cars available. Very rude. Hearing other poeple that were returning cars, definitely recommend getting extra insurance coverage because they were changed a lot for a scratch that may have been there -- they don't do 'walk arounds' on the cars so you can't prove if damage has already been done. Nothing really. The rental car pickup is not really "at" the airport. Dierctions to where their shuttle picks you up are non-existent. They tried to get us to rent a GPS, they brought out 3, none worked properly. Didn't take the GPS off the bill. The car was not advertised properly. The staff was responsive to my needs and very helpful. Make sure you consider insurance and GPS needs prior to arriving. You should get both if you don't have adequate coverage from your personal insurance company...or have a GPS option. Also, do not get a manual shift. It's challenging enough to drive with an automatic. It is preferred to get a diesel vehicle as 70% of the cars in Ireland are diesel. The roads are narrow...get a "small" car!! Over all it was a positive experience and I will use Enterprise again when in Dublin.Cons:

I rent an Astra with ar conditioning. Thrifity gave me a Skoda Fabia without AC. At the desk rental the attendant has confirmed that the car size for this rental is Fabia and there was no AC. The car got a flat tyre during the trip.Cons:
