Book Hertz car rentals in Nice

Pros: The car

Cons: My scheduled pickup time was 11:00 am but our flight was early and ended up getting to the ticket counter at 9:30 am. They wouldn't issue me the car until 11:00 am so we had to sit there for an hour and a half waiting. There has to be a better way.

Not so Nice

Cons: The Hertz staff appeared to help one client then disappear to never return. The line to pick up a car was very long but none of the staff members seemed to care.

Cons: They wouldn't allow me to inspect the vehicle before. They said it was too dark. I came back, and there was a tiny scuff evaluated by a non-Hertz employee. I have outside insurance purchased, but I bet it's going to be a hassle.

Pros: Price.

Cons: Car could not go more than 80 km/h. Mileage on rental agreement was higher than actual mileage, 2000 km !!! Because of that, drop off staff couldn't close the contract, they sent me to the office. Guess the rest: computers are down, cannot close the contract.

Pickup location was closed and different from address

Cons: Pickup was booked for 1300, arrived to find the pickup location was closed till 1500, and at a location different to the address provided.

Vehicle far too big for French village roads

Cons: Requested a 7 seater received a long wheel base 9 seater. Staying at a mountain village. Could not get around the roandabouts without backing up could not fit in car parks on the Côte d'Azur as too high for the barriers or the driveway where we stayed. Same issue returning the vehicle. Staff at Marseille did not speak English.

Pros: Can't

Cons: Can't cancel. Too complicated.. will never use Kayak again to rent a car.
