Cons:
The car was not ready when we got there and we had to be shuttled to another location to pick it up. I had purchased additional insurance on Expedia that I was then told when I arrived at Budget that that insurance was not valid for Budget nor in the Dominican Republic at all, so then I had to purchase another whole insurance. The person assisting me was rude and argumentative. He had me signing papers without even telling me what I was signing for nor what the price was going to be that I was committing/signing to. When I asked him the price he pitched a big fight and acted very immature and like I was an inconvenience. The car I got had tons and tons of dents all over it so I then had to make sure that they saw every single one so that I did not get scammed even more.2.0 Poor

That the hidden costs actually result in that the great deal found in internet came out to twice the cost I expected. I have never found the difference to be so huge having rented vehicles in many countries. You need to give clients a more realistic total. It is a very negative surprise to find what the cost really is when you are picking up the car, and you feel helpless to find and alternative solution. You have no alternative but to pay what they want.2.0 Poor

Pros:
First, if an interpreter who is Dominican had not accompanied me to the counter, this rental agreement could not be executed. The Budget representative's English was poor. Also, The Budget representative would not accept that I have rental car insurance coverage. I would not be allowed to rent a vehicle with out taking out additional insurance . Then the price for the coverage was negotiated with the help of my interpreter. I was asked to sign a blank credit card slip and a full text page written in Spanish. I refused to sign both. All of this occurred on the pick up. The return had its own set of challenges. The experience makes me question renting a vehicle with Budget, through Kayak and/or in Punta Cana again.Europcar
