Pros: All the staff we came into contact with were great! Comfortable and clean with an excellent location and reasonable prices. Rooms have hair dryers and a small refrigerators. Coffee & tea, cookies, and fruit complementary in lobby. The hotel has a charming European flavor to it and has many international guests. We will definitely return.

Pros: Nice historic hotel in a great location. Friendly and informative staff. Room was small but we got one of the rooms on the top floor and the ceiling was about 15 feet high. It made the room seem much larger. There is no A/C in the room but it was comfortable with the ceiling fan and the window open. I liked hearing the sounds of the city in the evening. The city "noise" did quiet down during the night and had no problems sleeping. This hotel was recommended to me by my boss. He stays there every year for a reunion with college friends. I have not problem passing on the recommendation.

Cons: Room was claustrophobic - barely room to walk around bed. Paint was fresh, but clearly covering 100 years of obvious wear. Musty smell. No air conditioning - couldn't get room quite cool/dry enough to be comfortable. Bathroom was dingy, marked up and had seen better days, and it was hard to squeeze into toilet between sink and wall, even then, wedged in by shoulder-level toilet paper dispenser. Plumbing noises from adjacent units were loud. Weirdly shaped closet with mismatched hangars that were falling apart.

Pros: Great location, good price, comfortable, professional, courteous staff. We had a room on the top floor, which was clean and quiet, with a ceiling fan rather than AC. Despite typically being a light sleeper, and expecting issues with street noise, I slept better there than I have anywhere in years, not really sure why (could have been the 12+ miles walking each day in wonderful San Francisco). The hotel is in Union Square, with its incredible shopping and conference centers. Chinatown is about .5 miles away (and a very steep hill), and Fisherman's Wharf about 1.5 miles; a fun walk if you're up for it (but Uber is fast an inexpensive, especially the pool option). If you're looking for a plush, modern American experience, this isn't it. If you're looking for an affordable, comfortable, centralized location to explore SF, or attend a business conference, this is a great choice.
Cons: Rooms are small, no air-conditioning (though not really needed) and there was no real work surface for a notebook. Not a place to get work done. Bathroom was dated, but functional. There's no fitness center in the hotel but you get free use of a health club around the corner with lots of good gear and yoga classes, which were great. There's no coffee in the room, but there's a 24 hour a day brew available in the lobby with cookies I found impossible to resist. Wi-fi is free and fast.

Pros: It was a very nice family hotel with an interesting history. Well located right off Union Square. The hotel staff were all very nice. Though we didn't take advantage of them, the bar and restaurant both seemed nice.
Cons: The weather was cool and the hotel had the boiler running. Our room must have been 80 degrees and no way to shut the heat off. We were on the top floor and the hotel staff offered to move us to a lower (cooler) room. The second floor room was just as warm. The rooms really need local control of temperature.

Pros: Loved that we could open our window and climb onto the fire escape for a great view. The room was very clean and comfortable. Anything you could want was available. Walking downstairs to the bar/restaurant inside the hotel was a convenience as well. Being in the heart of the Union Square was amazing. Super easy travel to wherever we wanted to go since the trolly stop was 1 block away.
Cons: Did not like the time it took for valet to bring the vehicle around (roughly 20-25 minutes). We understood the traffic in that area caused delays but it was my only complaint.

Cons: The hotel presents itself to be a resort facility and charges accordingly including a resort fee but there are few if any resort features to it. There is no pool or hot tub no view of any sort except going outside, no breakfast available. The rooms are small and it shows that they have been carved out of an old apartment (or office) complex. They have expresso machines in the rooms in place of coffee makers we found them difficult to get them to work.

Pros: I liked that we were able to find a great place on such short notice. The Manager on Duty, I think her name was Susan, was very helpful after one of the reservation agent accidentally mixed up our checkout time- and another Agent Brandon wasn't very kind to us. I ate most of my meals at the hotel, breakfast lunch and dinner- and I had three different bartender/servers during my stay that were all so very pleasant. Some even gave me directions to buy a hoodie at a nearby store because I didn't realize it would be colder there this time of year still. And the chef made me an awesome salad when I wanted to exchange tuna for chicken on the salad that comes with Lemon Dressing- it was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend this substitution as the combination of greens and dressing go amazing with Tuna! It will cost you 2 dollars more as Tuna is more expensive (rightfully so) but it I ate the entire thing. I couldn't stop myself.

Pros: Everyone from the valet attendant, bellman, and front desk was beyond helpful and attentive. Even on a stormy rainy SF day, they were warm and ever inviting to me. They got me a room on the 27th floor with an amazing view of union square during the holiday season. I highly recommend. Also, the bathroom had great lightening and everything was very clean. Location simply can't be topped. Parking is a choice of valet between $41 around the corner and $60 front door. Wifi is also now FREE.

Pros: Right next to the cable car turnaround and in the heart of SF, we loved be central to it all. We were with kids this we were thankful for the arcade area and the free coffee in the morning. Overall a top quality hotel as far as the rooms, cleanliness, and the decor. Also, the hotel is high-tech with TVs that would mirror our devices and staff available text. Highly recommend this hotel.

Cons: There should be free English tea made available in addition to coffee in the morning and it will be good if this free tea & coffee can start at 6am instead of 6:30am and goes on till 11am instead of 10:30am. This extra small gesture will make a difference to many of your staying guests like myself. Pros: This boutique hotel is small but has a lot of character. It was built over a century ago. A renovation to the interior has been done bringing it up to date. The exterior is being repainted now. Being in the heart of Union Square makes it very handy for shopping or anight out. The staff are what make the hotel special though. Pros: We were able to check in early and check out late, which gave us a lot of flexibility. The staff was very professional and helpful. The location is great. The rooms are smaller than today’s hotels, but typical of older buildings—especially in San Francisco. We’ll absolutely stay there again.
Cons: The shower could use a revamp. The floor pan was old and chipped in a lot of places and the shower door (though new) had issues with the track and wouldn’t close completely.
