If you don’t plan on getting data on your phone, at least download the map ahead of time. For all us, North American drivers, Aruba drives on the correct side of the road! There’s not a single traffic light that I saw on the island. Everything is traffic circles makes you really appreciate Them because when I got back home, traffic lights are really ticking me off! The roads are well marked drivers are competent, very safe island to drive on. No troubles at all!

Service was excellent, no complaints here. The issue was the address you have in your records is incorrect, does not even exist anymore. You still have it listed on the website. That said, the woman at the counter, did not get her name, was excellent. Helped me out even with the address problem. Needed to return the car as the driver side front tire had cracks in it, really???? Again, the same woman was able to help me out with a new vehicle, she is to be commended for her work ethics.

Our rental experience seemed fairly good, when we picked up the car there was a bit of damage on the vehicle. I made sure I took a full walk around video to make sure we weren’t gonna have any trouble on dropping off. It wasn’t a problem after all. Vehicle seem to work fine fairly easy staff to deal with.

No shuttle service from the airport, told us to go to Costs Linda resort to pick up van but the agency wasn’t there so had to take another cab to LaCabana. Agency at LaCabana had to find us a van as they didn’t have the reservation. Not happy with this rental

I went to the airport to pick up the car and in the front desk after all the explanations the lady told me that Payless didn’t accept DINERS credit card so I can’t take the reservation and she canceled in that moment. We arrived to pick up our car and no one was on duty. When we finally got someone there were no cars an available and we booked online the night before. The staff Jeanie worked very hard to get us a vehicle and was so very nice and understanding!! She made our day!! Vehicle was clean, new and nice. We had no problems with the vehicle.

So we got to the rental place at a few minutes to noon and they were closed. It appears they close at noon. We went to another Thrifty at airport and they said they could take care of it, but that Thrifty did not take the insurance that I paid for through your site. So we had to get insurance through them which was quite pricey. Is that true that they don’t honor your offered insurance?

Despite having received the confirmation on the website that a car was reserved, once at the airport location we were told we didn't have a car. We were also instructed to pick up the car at another location then the airport initially with the adresse provided on the confirmation through kayak. We walked 10 minutes off airport to be told the pick up was at the airport. But alast once back at the airport our reservation was useless since thrifty didn't have any cars available

I reserved a car online, I arrived by taxi from my hotel to be informed there were no cars! All of their cars had been fully booked since mid January. Thrifty employee stated the online reservations are not current with the availability of cars. I had no car and had paid a taxi fee for nothing!

When we arrived our reservation was cancelled so Ace never sent the shuttle to the airport. We waited in the rain for 90 minutes. Then we were not told to activate a button on the key fob to deactivate a theft protection and start the car. We spent $30 on tips to strangers trying to start our car.

The staff was overwhelmed and understaffed for the number of customers picking up and dropping off vehicles. Granted nobody was in a hurry but that may be a cultural issue associated with island life. But I watched car after car in good shape get brought out to customers. My suv was a pile of junk. When I rent for a week I would at least like a car that isn't a rattletrap. The headlights were cloudy and the floormats were junk. I get it that Hertz's inventory may be less than desirable but seriously this was not rent worthy. I would love to know how to get on the good car list. Is there a special code to get a nice car?

The main thing that needs to be mentioned here is that I booked this car with it listed as being at the airport. When I went to find the rental car booth, it didn't exist. If it wasn't for a guy in a van eating his lunch, seeing my wife and I wandering around, I'm not sure we would've found him. He had our name on a list and drove us in a van to another location to pick-up our rental car. When we were there, the gentleman at the place (not listed as Economy but as Smart Rent a Car) went through a laundry list of rules for the car, such as washing it prior to returning it (otherwise there would be a $150). All of this after charging me a $500 security hold. At this point, I was expecting a pristine, brand new car. Instead, I got issued a car with 24,000 miles on it. The radio was damaged, the driver's side window would go off track if lowered. I had to raise it and put it into place from the outside of the car. This car also had numerous scuff, scratches, dents etc. When I was ready to return to the airport, I couldn't go straight there. I had to take the car back, then get driven over to the airport. Extremely inconvenient. Especially since I specifically rented a car that was listed as being at the airport for pick-up.

They don’t have a sign at the airport and we asked locals who pointed where to wait for the shuttle. Car had a number of dings and was missing the cover shade to conceal the trunk luggage.

Car was just a small car, dinged up and not very clean, but it allowed us to travel all over the island. For the money, it was a good purchase. Staff was very friendly and prompt.

I had an uncomfortable experience when I went to pick up my rental car. Getting there was confusing and you hop into a van that takes you to a very weird back alley way. I had gone to pickup the car on my own and as a woman it made me very uncomfortable. The man who helped me was asking strange questions about whether I was traveling alone and then proceeded to ask if it was a group of all girls. On top of that I thought it was very strange that the car didn't come with a full tank of gas, mine was nearly empty when I went to pick it up. I wouldn't rent from here again.

We were disappointed when we arrived because we reserved an SUV and they had none. So my son had to get his own car. Very frustrating. Other than that the people at Dollar were great

We had to wait awhile for our paperwork to be completed and the car was disgusting. The front tire was going flat, the car was so dirty and when we turned the air conditioner on high, two dead cockroaches came out of the vents. The car type that we thought we were getting was not at all what we got. The car was the size of a shoebox. We will never rent from them again on the island of Aruba.

Cons:

When we got there, we were told they had no cars left. Not even in a different size. They told us they would bring us to Thrifty, who would match the price. Get to Thrifty and they want to give us a smaller car for $20 more (I'm a big guy, and can't fit into those little lunchboxes they call cars). They refused to come down to the promised price, and then told us it would be an $800 security deposit for damages. They wanted to charge my card $1000. Someone else was having the same problem and they couldn't get a car because they didn't have enough credit available for that. They also only take Visa or Mastercard, no AMEX. Went to look at the car and it was small and old, so we ended up never getting a car. Would NEVER try to rent a car at Dollar or Thrifty again.

Cons:

We made a reservation for a van amd when we got there there was NO van, there was also NO other vehicle that wohld fit 6 people available- we were given 0 options!!! We hace to take a small car and come back the next EVENING to get a van, disrupting all of our plans! Not to mention how RUDE the employees were, Michael was by far the rudest person!!! I hd to call Dollar US cuatomer service juat to complain because there was not even a manager in store!!

This rental was cancelled by the company 24 hours before we left leaving us without access to a car for our trip. I certainly hope this charge did not go thorough on to my card!! I’ll be checking when I get home. I already responded to this before we left. Not impressed with KAYAK sending this review for a reservation that never happened.
