They called an hour before my pickup to say my reserved car wasn’t available. They suggested that I come back the next day and wait outside before they opened to get a car. Not sure why I bothered making a reservation if they are strictly first come first serve. I am extremely empathetic given Covid limitations but I would have appreciated a little more transparency.

They was not friendly there was no consideration for the lack of understanding for how they work.Information on how there car service rental work. I was visiting another state the rental was for me to return with having to fly back. I was told by a rep I needed a return ticket which was confusing.

Clerk was helpful until I noticed a mistake in the booking and then she said she had no way to correct it.I had booked a one way car rental for La Guardia with a Drop off at Logan airport. When I called to ask if I could pick up the car a day earlier the customer service rep, said "yes" and also that I would save $25 . When I got there the clerk told me that the reservation said I was returning it to LaGuardia. I said that wasn't what I had told the clerk and she refused to honor the lower rate and if that wasn't enough she would't even give me the original price but said now I'd have to pay $80 more than my original reservation. I walked out and got another car from Thrifty. They made the mistake and they should have honored the price quoted. At least the original price, so I. don't think I will book with Enterprise again.

Domy was AMAZING. Well, the whole check in / check out experience was super easy and the staff that checked me in was great - but DOMY went beyond the call of duty, which I cannot say enough Thank Yous for doing what you did!!! Without going into detail, he turned what could have been a very stressful situation into a very calming one... Thanks for bringing midwestern hospitality to the east coast:).Truly... nothing.

I was upgraded with no hassle and no extra *final cost to a luxury SUV due to there being limited sedans available. The agent was helpful and efficient.The line to pick up was extensive and it took 45 minutes to be seen for my scheduled appointment. Also, the additional hold of $1,000 on my credit card due to being upgraded to an SUV was surprising. Since it was due to lack of inventory vs. client request I believe the additional hold fee should have been either waived or articulated earlier in the conversation by the agent.

The shuttle, the driver, personnel at the rental facility were all exceptional. We were a big party with quite a few luggage. They helped us to load/unload them and get the vehicle ready within a short time considering it was Thanks Giving. The drop off in NY city worked flawlessly as well. The only minor issue we had was that a previous renter had possibly smoked in the car and the smell could be still felt.

Pickup and drop off were easy, the car was new (2020 model, 14k miles on it).The car *reeked* of cigarette smoke and getting a tire replaced was a hassle despite insurance. We did not notice the smoke immediately on pickup because we were wearing masks and they had sprayed some cleaning product which covered it up for a bit. We left the windows open for hundreds of miles of driving over three days and the smell never quite went away. Considering that they charge around $200 from renters who smoke in the car, one should think that they do more about it afterwards. Or at least compensate renters who get the car afterwards. We also had a lot of trouble resolving an issue with a flat tire. Roadside assistance was fast, but the donut spare tire they put on only works for 50 miles. It took us over half a dozen phone calls to different Alamo/Enterprise hotlines and branches, trying to get a replacement car or a new tire. No replacements cars were available in the entire Albany, NY region due to the holiday weekend. We finally learned from a more competent employee that Alamo and Enterprise have a partnership with Firestone, so you can get a tire replaced there free of charge. It would have saved us about an hour to learn that from the first hotline which you call for roadside assistance. Also, when you book full insurance you expect that these kinds of things are covered more flexibly. It appears that totaling the car in an accident would have been covered but getting a replacement tire anywhere but Firestone would have not? How does that make sense?

Outside wasn’t washed, no floor mats. Kinda smelled like smoke and deodorizer all mashed together. Also no instructions before returning the car. So we were kinda confused. But all in all not bad. Car ran fine, stereo was decent enough. Had Apple car play. So it was ok.

The reason I am giving a low rating is for safety reasons. The tread on the rear tires were very low and this was pointed out to me by my boyfriend after I was 140 miles away from my destination. I just assumed that Budget would always make safety a priority. This is NOT acceptable. The car reeked of smoke and was poorly cleaned. I am not giving the worst score because even though there was a rather large line, the attendants processed us quickly. I will never recommend Budget.

Had to rent a car because my flight got canceled due to snow. The car was filthy and had an overwhelming smell of marijuana. The clerk at La Guardia said there would be a drop off fee in Boston, but wasn't sure how much it would be. He said it would ‘probably be 50 bucks since Boston isn't that far’. When I got to Boston, the employee scanned the car and said it was $200. When I said the employee in NYC said it would be about 50, he ripped the receipt off his machine, told me to ‘prove it’, and then walked away. I rarely rent cars, but if I ever have to again, it will not be through Budget.

The car had no antifreeze, and no windshield wiper fluid. I had to buy both for the car. After filling up the wiper fluid the Mechanism to shoot the wiper fluid on the windshield was not working at all. With the snow in the salt in the air my vision was obstructed and I had to stop several times to clean the windshield by hand so I can see while driving. Lucky to have not gotten into an accident.

NothingLiterally everything. Inconvenient location. Unfriendly staff. First car they gave me didn’t have a working radio. The second one had stains all over the seats and garbage under the seat. Spend an extra couple dollars and rent elsewhere.

We mentioned we were going upstate and it would be snowing. We were told the car would be fine but it certainly was not!! It was so dangerous and did not grasp on to the road so several times we thought we were going to crash as we had no control over the car. we would've gladly paid more to be safe

Car was cleanDid not have the car that I reserved. I reserved a full size and they did not honor my reservation. All they had was a economy car. It ruined my trip. Also, the shuttle took 3 stops (30 minutes) to get to the rental parking lot. Very inconvenient.

A big wate of my time.When I arrived to pick up the car I reserved a week in advance at 9:45 AM, it was unavailable because I was "late" for my 9 AM pick up time. Economy did not contact me and was unable to offer me any assistance. They also stated they do not take walk-ins only reservations, so it was easy to determine that a car had never been available that day. Two other customers present at the time with reservations also arrived to find that there were no cars available. An abysmal experience. I can not believe Economy can run a business this way.

Terrible rental car. Car was dirty and had something mechanically wrong with it. Workers in the office are half asleep and have no personality . Definitely DO NOT recommend this company to anyone. Also price was way higher than what it said online

Disappointed.The people were kind at the pickup locationCar was filthy I couldn’t believe the interior looked how it did. And the car had a horrible scent to it. I was in a rush and there were no other suvs at the moment so I was stuck but definitely disgusting I had to take it to a car wash immediately and get it detailed !

I asked for ez pass since I was traveling from NYC to VA and the lady behind the counter said the car had ez pass in it but the car didn't. She didn't walk me and my husband to the car only from 20 feet away she pointed at two of them and said to pick one. Lo and behold, no ez pass! Which we didn't discover until we were on the highway and had to back up and pay by credit card. Terrible! I will never rent with National again!

Ah details. All was great; only very annoying fly in ointment - entrance to drop off location not marked. Please go to Boston location and see there's construction everywhere, several garages in block and the address nonsensical - 2 given, one doesn't exist (at least from car) and other the starting with # 50 actually came after 100 and then 110. Not until a very stressful time (no one to ask on a Sunday early) did we find that 50 was indeed after 100 and 110. Not a sign for National to be seen anywhere (it was there AFTER entering very the messy garage with construction everywhere) that we encountered a sigh. PUT A SIGN AT ENTRANCE!!!!! Otherwise great, James G. who helped with car absolutely great, the woman at counter who directed me to James G. whose name I didn't catch also great, the driver of shuttle really nice and person who directed me to counter also wonderful. So you get al 5 stars, deducting nothing for your missing sign because your staff in NYC otherwise compensated greatly.

I had to call both Lynchburg and Queens National locations prior to pickup, and though my issue was not able to be resolved ahead of time, Cody in Lynchburg and Elena in Queens were extremely courteous and helpful. At the time of pickup, the counter staff was helpful and my pickup was smooth. The gate associate was personable and helpful as well.

The staff at the National pickup in Queens gave us the wrong information about adding another person. They insisted that my travel partner was not covered on the insurance and were very dismissive and unhelpful about how we could resolve the issue. Upon going to another National car service location at Newark airport (far out of our way to our travel destination) we finally received some helpful advice from the clerk there. I was very upset that the National Car service location in queens was not more informed on the issue and helpful. It seemed like they just wanted to clock out and didn't care about nay type of customer service. I WILL NOT be renting from National againThe customer service and transparency on terms.

Drop off was easy. Staff were very easy to talk to and accomodating regarding vehicle type and availability.The line to get to the counter before pick-up was very long, and like all car rental places, very slow. There was a bit over an hour waiting in line.

Hertz canceled my appointment and moved the rental to another inconvenient location the night before the rental was due. The new hertz also lost my ezpass and the car felt old and way passed it's prime.

Got into a small accident and was left stranded by Hertz. It took 2.5 hours to confirm a tow truck was even on the way. Then Hertz's solution was having me drive on a donut for 45 miles in the wrong direction to pick up a replacement car. This added 6 hours to my drive. Also, it was a 50/50 shot as to whether employees would be helpful. Was hung up on 2x by Emergency Roadside Assistance and had to keep calling back and getting put back in the queue. It was MADDENING and made a stressful situation way worse than it needed to be.

After waiting a while in line, the employee when I was checking in was very pushy to keep “adding” stuff to my rental - especially the insurance (when I already bought insurance through alliance) .. a $200 rental he was trying to push to a new total of $600. He just kept insisting even when I told him several times NO. That annoyed me a lot. Then I was told that the car I booked was not ready and he wouldn’t know when it was ready. But he told me if I upgraded to a midsize for another $60 it would be ready immediately. Overall the car itself was fine, but the experience there was not my favorite. I have mixed feelings about it and probably wouldn’t use them again.

I had a great experience at Fox Rental! The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive and they made sure that I had all my questions answered and explained the rental agreement in detail. I highly recommend renting a car here and I will be back soon!

My experience was terrible. An hour into the trip i see that my front left tire is losing air pressure constantly. I call the roadside assistance number who only pickup the phone after making me wait 30 mins. They finally send some road assistance. The mechanic realises that the spare tire is useless. Only good for 30-40 miles. I try calling drivo but they never pick up the phone! I had to pay the mechanic out of my pocket and buy a new tire! I wasted 2-3 hours doing this. I reached my hotel at 2am in the morning. I had to drive in pitch dark because I didn't want to lose the 300dollars i had paid to book my hotel. How can an agency not pick up the phone in the middle of the day! And not provide a spare tire for a 4 days trip! After i came back and explained this to the manager he refused to accept any mistake on his part.

Top tips for renting a car in Queens

  • Jaywalking, especially in residential areas, is very common throughout Queens. If you are in a residential area on a one or two-lane road, then it is even more likely to happen. Make sure you keep your eyes on road and you stay vigilant for any would-be jaywalkers that may pop out in front of you.
  • Planning on picking up a hire car before heading to Queens? If your flight is to JFK International Airport, the hire desks are located on the Arrivals level in each terminal. Flying into Newark Airport instead? In that case, you will find the hire car desks at Stations P2 and P3 on the AirTrain. As for LaGuardia Airport, the hire car center is located just off-site but there are shuttles in front of Terminal A to take passengers to passengers there.
  • Keep your eyes open for taxi drivers and stay out of their way. They are fearless drivers and will cross 3 or even 4 lanes of traffic if necessary. The easiest option is the path of least resistance, so simply let them drive around you and do their thing.
  • Queens, like much of New York City, experiences a daily rush hour. Drivers can typically expect the morning rush hour to pick up at around 7:00 a.m. and run until 9:00 a.m., while the afternoon rush hour starts at around 4:00 p.m. and goes to 7:00 p.m. In general, the Grand Central Parkway during rush hour is one of the roads hit by congestion, so drivers are advised to avoid it if possible.
