Car was clean and well-maintained. My flight arrived early and my car was not ready yet, so they convinced me to upgrade to a bigger, more expensive car which I regret as I did not need a bigger car. Otherwise all was good and car was great.

Staff was friendly and helpful. We were having to wait a long time while they cleaned a recent return that was supposed to be ours so they just gave us a larger SUV that was already cleaned and ready to go at no additional cost.

Cons:

The key fob to our Jeep ran out of batteries on the 2nd day. As a result, had to get the car towed and exchange the car. While that process was fairly smooth, it effectively blew the entire morning. At the counter, the agent told me that the Jeep's key batteries commonly run out after 4 months. He also told us the trick on how to get the Jeep started again. Had we known, it would have saved the hassle of the tow.

Car was not clean. Water spots all over windows. Had to clean inside windows to see out. Staff didn't care. Also, parts were broken on door handle, lots of dents and scratches on car. Lots of small hairs on dash board? Staff generally seemed annoyed to have to get up from sitting around. Inside Staff were helpful, not outside.

The staff was so nice and friendly. I had to wait about 5 minutes before I spoke to an agent which was fine. Then we had about a 8 minute wait till the car arrived. It was clean and good for us.

Cons:

I’m not sure I agree with the “film the car as insurance that you got it in this condition”. In Maui I had a real person with a different company and I like that more.

We rented 2 cars for our group and one of the cars was incorrect. We ordered a “Chevrolet Suburban or similar” and got a minivan. Mistakes happen but the man working the pick up counter at the airport in Kona was the rudest customer service person I have ever dealt with. It was appalling. I wouldn’t rent through Hertz again because of this person.

Staff was friendly, very clear about the pickup and dropoff process, even though I didn't pick up my car from Enterprise (per instructions from the rental agency)

Cons:

I wish they'd had the car I'd reserved ready. Originally they tried pushing a crossover on me and even the car I got was not the one I reserved. Given how expensive gas is in Hawaii, I reserved a compact on purpose, and was disappointed to not receive one.

We were downgraded to a car we didn’t want. We reserved a Kia Soul but were given a Kia forte. The batteries in the key fob were drained and the key fob didn’t work. I had to manually lock and unlock doors. When we asked for a receipt when we returned the rental the representative at Avis was rude and unhelpful. I still don’t have a receipt for the rental.
