Cons: - The staff was mostly friendly and courteous. But during our stay, we encountered 3 hotel staff that were rude. - We brought our ROKU only to find out that the HDTV has a second HDMI port available, but it is DISABLED by the hotel (confirmed by staff). After looking around, we found the tiny set top box and HDMI junction box underneath the desk. We promptly unplugged the HDMI cord and plugged our Roku instead. Problem solved. - As other reviewers noted, the internet was comparable to 512k DSL speed. Streaming content was unbearable at peak hours.

Cons: no coffee maker no door or curtain on shower to keep warm air inside

Cons: The generator was struck by lightening and the hotel was out of power in the room towers and no A/C in the casino. There were no apologies and or notification from the staff.

Cons: I think for the price there should have been more amenities, breakfast etc. The escalator was down for a day for maintenance and kind of cuts you off from the tower side of the hotel, I feel a Friday was not the right day for this. Providing ear plugs was tacky

Cons: The noise level of the bars below. Also, the facilities were not all functioning (elevators and escalators). Also the location of the room was not very convenient.

Cons: When I arrived, there were dirty towels and linens left on the counter in the bathroom. Furthermore, the toilet had not been flushed, much less cleaned (there was still feces in it). Midway through my stay, the television stopped working. Disappointing.

Cons: One server at the S+O restaurant was incredibly rude. She very obviously didn't want to be there, and we caught her rolling her eyes many times. This was the only staff member that we ran into that was rude, everyone else was great. Getting to the strip is a little difficult, but the downtown strip is just as fun.

Cons: As a downtown spot, it's a great stay. If you're used to the strip ammenties and atmosphere though you may be put off by any spot downtown

Cons: The showers are a little odd, with their half-glass "door", and the water pressure left a bit to be desired. But the cleanliness more than made up for it!

Cons: The disconnect between players services and the promotions and also how the pool is always so ccold, even in the dead of summer.

Cons: There wasn’t much I disliked, about the hotel honestly. I can’t even complain, the only thing I can say when all guest check in give a guide of everything in the hotel. I didn’t mind walking around though, for real the hotel was really nice.

Cons: They put us on the 18th floor, which is the top and by the elevator... it was a Monday/Tuesday booking, the hotel was not busy. We had to deal with a warm room due to the fact it was the top floor, and elevator noise all night, it sounded like there was a trash truck outside our window all night, made it difficult to get to sleep.

Cons: There was a gap between the outer window facade and the adjoining room. We were "treated" to a lengthy telephone conversation from the guests. We solved the problem by strategically placing a towel into the offending space.

Cons: Didn't expect the Fremont experience to be able to be heard through the building, but they provided really nice earplugs so I slept fine.

Cons: the long walk from the lobby to the rooms in the tower.

Cons: we stayed in the pavilion suites it was like been in prison it was on 5th floor above the car park the wall were paper thin you could hear everything north/east/south the music stopped at 3.30am from freemont st. and west the maid knocked us up at 8am when I put a no service required on the door DO NOT stop in the pavilion suites .the tower suites are 100 times better

Cons: I booked online, and was offered an upgrade to a "Cabana Suite" for a holiday weekend. Mia culpa, I did not do extensive research since I know that a cabana is usually poolside and a suite is usually a large hotel room with a sitting area as well as a sleeping area. The El Cortez Cabana Suites are neither. It's an older looking motel that has had the name El Cortez slapped on it. My room was no more than a Motel 6 hotel room: a king bed, a chair, a desk with one of those metal-and-vinyl chairs you see in schools or churches, a dresser that you couldn't access because the mini fridge prevented the sliding doors from opening on one side (where the drawers were). The bathroom did have a nice shower, as some pointed out, but the location was behind the parking structure for the actual El Cortez Hotel. There was a security guard outside the door because the neighborhood was more than a tad sketchy. We couldn't have guests without coming to the lobby to open the door for them - they wouldn't buzz in our friends. When checking in (with bags in hand) they made me fish out my room key before buzzing me into the lobby; it was not very welcoming. Yes, there is candy on the lobby desk, but the person sitting at the desk almost didn't smile once in three days. Often at night it was a security guard talking on her phone with friends and didn't even look up to acknowledge us. I felt cheated out of a promise made by the name of the hotel - if you're going to offer someone who starts to book a room in the casino tower a "cabana suite" as an alternative, then it better have a pool or be an actual suite. A renovated Super 8 Motel is NOT what I think of when I read "El Cortez Cabana Suites". Had this hotel been $50 a night, I would have been tipped off, but at almost $200 a night for the holiday weekend (including their nightly "Resort Fee"), I was expecting MUCH more.

Cons: I missed having a microwave in the room (was expecting one). No popcorn at night.

Cons: The price and the people playing rap music until 2:30 in the morning. I paid $73 on line for my room and when I got to the hotel I was told I would have to pay another $11 "resort fee" and a $40 deposit. I was awoke at 12:30 to the sound of rap music and assumed it was coming from Fremont Street. It woke me up again at 1:30 and again at 2:30. This time I had to call the front desk and complain. I guess they looked in to it because about twenty minutes later it stopped. I will never stay here again.

Cons: Noise level was high at times, the casino on the main floor smelled strongly of smoke and febreeze/air freshener. The ice machine may have been from when Bugsy owned the hotel. The $5 charge for Keureg coffee cups is ludicrous.

Cons: WAter drainage in Tower room bath tub is bad , very very slow that may cause pooling of water when showering. Room floor is old and looks dirty.

Cons: Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, reeked of tobacco smoke. Walked into the lobby to register, was there for a few minutes, then went to "non-smoking" room. The room smelled of smoke. Seems like the smell permeated into the room. After the trip, everything smelled of smoke, even the clothes not worn. I will not stay there again.

Cons: When I did check in, they did not have my reservation. I had to make a call to get them to contact the hotel, to get everything straight. I have never had this experience before. this was not a hotel error. This was an error of Kayak.

Cons: Shower didn't work, unbearable noise from the street until midnight (they actually provided earplugs - instead of mints). Foul odor in hallway and room. Anything extra (refrigerator, decent TV channels, etc.) would cost extra. You get what you pay for - not much!

Cons: That when it says "free cancelation included" it's not really free. It should be more clear with the rules on the "free cancelation policy" and maybe have the rules right next to it in parentheses, instead of at the bottom of the page. Kind of sneaky how it's placed.

Cons: First day these the elevator in the parking lot wasn't working, had to use the stairs. The room smelled old and the music coming from Freemont street wouldn't let me sleep. Once the curtains were moved to look outside we found a McDonalds hash brown wrapper and pieces of has brown underneath giving us the impression that the room wasn't properly clean.

Cons: Stayed in December and no heater in the rooms.. Maintenance told us what do you expect from a 60 year old building. We were moved to the other tower with same results" no heat". Rooms were out dated and tiles were coming off in bath. Ceiling had water stains.. Not what you expect in a Vegas resort.

Cons: I've spent plenty of time at the Four Queens over the years, but exclusively on the Casino floor. The environment was always friendly and their tables provided some of the best entertainment value in the city... On this occasion however I made the mistake of booking a room at the hotel. Within seconds of walking into our room we knew that we'd made a HUGE mistake. Though it was listed as clean, it was absolutely filthy. The beds were made, but pillows were strewn about. The carpet in both the hallway and the room hadn't been cleaned in weeks and there were dirty towels strewn about the bathroom. Bare in mind that had it even been clean, IN NO WAY did the room we entered resemble the pictures online, and this was in the "remodeled" tower. We left immediately and went downstairs to check out. They allowed us to do so but would not compensate us for any charges given that we'd purchased the room online. After contacting the Kayak vendor, we went back and forth for nearly 2 hours and the best they could do was to refund half of the purchase price. So essentially, I was forced to pay for a filthy room that I stayed in for a total of 5 minutes. Just don't do it... if you need to stay downtown go to the Nugget instead!

Cons: Even numbered rooms in North Tower can be a little noisy due to Fremont Street Experience being directly below - but hey, this is Vegas, who's in bed before 2am anyway? If you are a family with younger children this could be an issue though. You could try requesting a room in a quieter part of the hotel?

Cons: Even on the 16th floor, the noise from Fremont Experience could be annoying. But on the weeknights during which we stayed, it quieted down considerably after midnight. So overall, it proved not to be an issue.

Cons: The hallways and casino area had very strong cigarette smoke odors. At night the street noises were very loud and there is no way you could go to sleep before 1 am. In addition, the bed pillows were way too firm. Very hard to get comfortable and go to sleep.

Cons: The hotel manager needs to pay attention to the administrative (hostess) Mellisa. She is very rude to the customers of the motel ... She herself canceled the reservation and promised to refund the money, but she never kept her word. Also she wears mask in the wrong way, she wears it under her nose. At the same time, she literally barks at others if they delay to put on a mask when entering the hotel ... a very unpleasant experience for my whole family. Please stay away from this kind of "service".

Cons: Room had a bad smell from ac unit. The shower controls were broken, it would switch between cold and very hot on its own. Also the shower curtain wasn’t big enough so water got everywhere

Cons: I tried to find outlets next to the bed to plug in my phone. Couldn't find any. There where two lamps next to the bed. I wondered what they were plugged into. Turned out nothing. The lamps where just there for decoration! Turned out you didn't need the lamps. There was a lamppost directly outside the window that lit up the room. It felt light late evening with all the light a out. I didn't realize this until it was late. I just went sleep. They need to provide curtains in that room.

Cons: The fact that they sent me to an side building and not their main hotel. Which meant I had to park in a public parking lot which lead to my car getting a ticket. Which now I have to fight to get it cleaned off my record. All because of either the incompetence or maybe they did it on purpose of the women at the front desk who gave me the parking pass and putting the wrong date on it. I was tired from the drive and did not check it, so now I have that ticket I have to battle to get cleaned up. So I would NOT recommend this hotel!

Cons: They never answer the phone and if they do they are extremely rude. Extremely bitter and unhappy employees. Our toilet seat has some red sticky dried liquid on it. Kinda gross.

Cons: No refrigerators and microwave in our room and people hogging up the ice in the ice machine by the main building. There should be ice machines in each building.

Cons: You could not control the water temperature when showering, it would either be too cold or too hot. Once adjusting the handle would give you the same result.

Cons: Longest check in process in my entire life. And I was the only one the agent was checking in! Asked for a quiet room, got put on a floor where people were arguing in the halls and banging doors all night Front desk originally granted me a late checkout but told no one so banging on my door the minute after normal checkout commenced. Clogged sink. Had to use the bathtub to brush my teeth and wash my face.

Cons: Hotel phone was not working: calls went thru an intermediary ("The Oasis") though answered professionally; so it was not possible to reach the Front Desk directly; only way was thru email; there are also no room phones, which was not per se a problem for me. Ventilation fan in bathroom was quite noisy.

Cons: The pictures of the rooms you are shown are the newly renovated rooms. The problem is not all of the rooms are renovated at this time. We had a room that smelled musty and one they would have been ashamed to put a picture of online.

Cons: Dirty, outdated, lacking in amenities, foul smell on hallway. The shower curtain is full of molds and dirt on the bottom side. Toilet bowl stained and not cleaned and was not cleaned during our stay. Electrical outlets are few and hard to access.

Cons: It would have been great to know about the $22.60 per day resort fee tacked on top of the room rate. Made a seemingly inexpensive vacation turn into a much more costly endeavor.

Cons: No hot water in late afternoon and evening. Reception told me that during afternoon and evening, I needed to run the shower for 20 minutes before the hot water would show up. They were close...18 minutes. Seems like a huge waste of water. Bathroom smaller than the backseat of my car. Room noisy starting late in the evening. Heater didn't seem to work. I had many contacts with staff to help me solve a problem, repair something, or give further instruction or how things worked, which I've not had in other hotels. My wife and I stayed here as a less expensive alternative to the Golden Nugget, where we usually stay because I were here for a conference and we'll be coming back in April. Not a good choice. Will never stay here again. Ever.

Cons: When you get upstairs think green mile. Valet seems to loathe their positions. Room was dirty due to lack of care. I work in international business so i can tell when a worker is given too many rooms, tht or a lack of training. Brittle doors slam all times of the night as the plywood hallway floors play lullaby late into the night letting you know who is up and heading where any time you like (usually 2-5am( Thumbs Down Kids

Cons: The hotel is long overdue for a remodel. The air-conditioning in the room was mediocre and would keep switching off. Some kind of construction was taking place that prevented me from being able to sleep. I could understand if work was being done during the week when there's less customers staying in the hotel. But no, on the weekend and in the morning I wake up to a drilling sound coming from the next room. I've learned my lesson and will never stay at this hotel ever again.

Cons: Once I paid for the room (and resort fee online) when checking in I am told about a $100.00 deposit that will be refunded upon checkout. When I check out I see Another $21.00 fee (Resort Fee) All and all we ended up having to pay almost $64.00 for that $20.00 room. The bathroom was so small the door hit the toilet, when I went to hang my towel on the hook on the back of the door it slipped and fell in the toilet. There are bands playing in the blocked off area on Freemont till at least 3am and it blared into our room. The food in the restaurant was outrageously priced for the tiny and outdated cafe. $11.00 for a hamburger and that was about the cheapest thing on there menu. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know how bad it was!

Cons: BEWARE!!! Upon check-in I was advised that I needed to make a $100 security deposit. When I checked out the next morning I was charged an additional $22 for a resort fee. The room was old, small and noisy. But what can you expect for what was supposed to be a $42 room charge (plus $22).

Cons: Not give a room next to the Fremont Street experience with super loud music until 2 am

Cons: $20 resort fee per day for only a very slow internet (no pool, no business center, not fitness center etc.)

Cons: The things they don't tell you when booking a reservation...like there's a $20 "Resort Fee" - yeah right, you call this a resort? It's more like an old sleazy casino/hotel. There's a rock concert that goes on outside next to the hotel on Fremont Street until 2 am every night - doesn't mention that in the booking info...try to sleep through Def Leppard and Journey covers going till 2 am. Front desk staff is rude and disinterested for the most part.

Cons: Well if you want to be able to sleep any time at night then do not ask for the Fremont street rooms lol. They asked if we wanted a window off Fremont street and our window was right above the stage. Cool for watching the bands but very bad if you needed sleep. When the front desk gave us ear plugs it should have been a giveaway then. But again we asked for it. The only other thing is it is an older hotel so if you are looking for large spacious bathrooms then pay for the suites, otherwise you will be getting a tiny bathroom that when you open the door it hits the toilet.
