Make use of the QR code offered by JFK Airport to get through customs. It can save you about an hour when you land.
Verified travelerFlew with United Airlines-May 2025
Get to the airport at least 3 hrs early. The line for passport control in Rome is very long.
SherylFlew with ITA Airways-May 2025
I would not recommend ITA unless you are sitting in business class. All of the upgraded ITA seats lack lumbar support and are in poor condition. I would also recommend that unless you are ending your trip in Nee York or a close by location, that you not stop in New York on your way to a longer distance destination because the delay time can be very long. My delay was 4hrs, 45mins even though I only needed to fly to Washington DC Dulles from New York.
Verified travelerFlew with Norse Atlantic Airways-Apr 2025
Don’t fly Norse. Also always pack light. You won’t miss all the extra clothes and shoes, one set is fine, you can rewear items, but traveling light makes your whole travel experience so much easier!
